Celtic don't have the money that people seem to think they have. I said at the time the vermin were winning the league that they should have been streets ahead of us given the money they had spent. They had the chance to really put us to the sword but Strachan/Desmond (depending on what you believe) failed to spend the money otherwise we could well be out of business by now. They are not much better off than us now financially. Desmond is their only saving grace and the whole Roy Keane thing smacked of desperation. If they had done something like that the previous season instead of signing Willo Flood then we might well be looking at Celtic going for 6 in a row this coming season. Just had a nosy on a Hull forum and it might not be as unrealistic as I first thought. Apparently Celtic had agreed with Hull to pay JB £15k per week each. The stumbling block was a clause that Celtic would stop paying him if he got injured leaving him with just £15k pw from Hull. Bullard wanted Hull to then cover Celtic's share which they refused. 15k pw would fit in our salary budget. Not sure how true this is but that's what the Hull fans are saying.

What are these positives you speak of? I'd say the main one is that it frees cash to spend on the wide areas, which in turn will allow the players we've shoehorned in there from time to time (Naismith, Davis, Whittaker, Lafferty etc) to concentrate on their 'natural' position. We were told previously that we already had cash to spend plus Smith has already stated that income from players sold would not necessarily be put back into the squad so I don't see how this can be classed as a positive. I'm not sure I totally believed that. Another positive is that at least we aren't selling Davis or Bougherra for a knock-down price. The fact that we've got this cash in for Thomson might mean that we don't need to sell either player, and if we do, it might mean we don't need to sell them for the first offer. A lot of 'mights', 'ifs' and 'buts' I grant you, but I don't think it should be panic stations yet. If you believe we have to sell Thomson to enable us to spend money on players then I see that as an even bigger negative! I'm not at panic stations by any manner of means and I'm certainly not one of the regular doom merchants on here. I just have a heavy heart at the thought of Thomson leaving for Middlesborough at a knockdown price and of another season with Big Lee in centre midfield. While I don't believe all the hype that Celtic are gonna be buying this player and that player, I know that Lennon will have a very committed and fired up team this season and it won't take a great side to put our current squad to the sword.

Getting more and more concerned about the coming season as the days go by. I've not been one of the panic merchants on here shitting themselves but if this is true then I would really start to worry.

Correct Jondaken. Don't forget these scumbags have been forced to put back the deadline for buying season tickets on 3 or 4 occasions now so disappointing (as far as they are concerned) has been the uptake of season tickets.
