It makes sense to me to be honest mate. If you stop the ball from going into the net using your hand and then the keeper saves the penalty you have had an advantage. The person cheating shouldn't be given any sort of advantage. If we didn't send the players off everyone would be diving around using their hands to stop the ball because they wouldn't be sent off and the keeper could still keep them in the game by saving the penalty. As much as the decision pained me I don't see how the ref could have played it any other way. As you say if they missed the penalty and Kewell only got a yellow then Ghana would have been hard done by. As it is though it's rough being sent off for an unintentional handball and conceding a penalty. His eyes were closed for fucks sake. So instead of unfairly disadvantaging one side he's done it to the other. I'd say they should either give the red with no penalty and thus give the attacking team an advantage. Or better yet if the problem is the attacking team possibly missing the penalty, just allow the goal that was stopped. That way Ghana would have their goal and Australia wouldn't have been down to ten men because Harry wasn't able to move in time. If the ref deems the handball to be unintentional then it shouldn't be a penalty nevermind a red card. A handball has to be intentional to be a foul. Them's the rules.
