  1. exactimento!Fair enough todays game was for the most part a complete nightmare BUT we are there. When the famous old cup is in the trophy cabinet nobody remembers the manner of the win.
  2. well, its difficult to define what is more intense I suppose but I have been to 3 Boca/River Plate derbies and I thought the level of dislike among the fans was was a good deal more intense than the OF.My girlfriend is Argentinian, she is in Buenos Aires now,and her daughter is a huge Boca fan and no way will she hear mention of River Plate without cursing like mad.A guy they know, punkie, has Boca tattoos all over his body-yeah,ALL over-and its the same with him.Mentioning River plate is almost as bad as saying "Falklands" instead of "Malvinas"-believe me,its a real "I,ll get me coat" moment Strangely enuff theres lots of parallels with the OF.Boca see themselves as the club of the poor immigrant community and River Plate are called "Los Millionares",supposedly the establishment club with all the money etc.River Plate call the Boca fans "los puercos"-the pigs and so on.
  3. All of this begs the question why Aberdeen cant do this on a weekly basis in the SPL.If they did they would win the league.they,ll probably get pumped by Gretna in their next game!having said that credit where credits due.I watched this game tonight and the comparisons with our performance are not good.Basically they went out to win the game-TO WIN.Against a Bayern side packed with quality that takes some guts.Sure theyve probably sold the jerseys but at least they had a go-they werent ruled by fear!Nothing to lose?Against a team like Bayern they were risking a real hiding with 0-5 or so in prospect but, they went for it all the same. This "too much to fear" shit wont wash.We were at home ferchrissake-AT HOME!Against a passable Greek side-not of the class of Bayern-and perhaps its ok to start the game with some caution, fair enough, but it should have been obvious that after a short while the Greeks were there for the taking. The fact we did nothing suggests that the tactics are strangling the team or we just dont have the players to do it.Personally I think its a bit of both but the managers tactics must come under question.Last night we looked as if we could play forever and hardly make a single incisive forward pass.Long ball?Aberdeen did that tonight but used the tactic well and to some effect.not just aimless humping it up the park. They passed the ball well, worked hard for each other, tackled and kept possession well...............................everything we didnt do.I better stop now because this is getting on my nerves big style.
  4. Who cares how we play if we win the league? Its the end result that counts over the means surely?Well, yeah.Like everyone else I,m sick of watching the dross served up at Ibrox these days mainly because its a complete eyesore but,Im sure I,m not alone in this,I get the feeling that,if this is the extent of our ability,we are living on borrowed time.Even the best teams lose a few games but playing like this surely its only a matter of time. The poverty of play is really terrible.every back pass, square ball and,oh christ no again!,big punt up the park give the impression of a team barely able to master the basics of the game and as for retaining possession.............f*cking hell.Well,it stinks but maybe the strategy will see us through and we can look forward to another championship and, surely to christ, spending a few quid on some FOOTBALLERS.
  5. "an Ibrox insider".....uoh......this phrase in any article concerning the Gers makes me think this is baloney.Reading through the various articles there is no substance whatsoever just some quotes from the ubiquitous "insider".So what is going on?These stories used to appear when Murray wanted some smoke to deflect from some of his failures but,we,re on the up now so..................its a puzzler.Yes,the old bird needs some touching up but NOT into just a bigger breeze block arena ala "potato bowl" style so when can we expect some action and not just vague articles in the rags?Ach who cares-title time for us soon anyway!!!! :bouncy:
  6. There is nobody in the Scottish game never mind Rangers who is world class at the moment.Anybody of that ilk plays in the money league down south.Certainly NOT at Inverness Caley on a wet Sunday afternoon!!
  7. You're right, that is was makes it so painful m8. Those last 2 goals were salt in the wounds - agony to witness. Yes well we certainly lost to a better team fair enough. But the pain goes on.Surely Lyon are not THAT much better that we cant expect to hold out for 90 minutes AT HOME?Overall we werent beaten so much as outclassed and outplayed all over the shop.Yes,this means Lyon were better but this is no excuse for our performance.Poor, very poor. Also the argument that as Lyon are technically better they deserve to go through holds no water at all.If this is the case how the fuck did Celtic make it then?I dont know what it is with these bastards but they seem to pull it out of the bag so often.Flukey last minute goals and teams who slaughter them away-Shaktar-suddenly turning into shot-shy twats at Celtic Park-Shaktar again-whatever luck is going they seem to get it.The only consolation is they are out on their arses in the next stage while we COULD,not saying we will,go on a bit of a run in the UEFA cup.Except thats the diddy cup in comparison to the CL.What a night of disappointment.Well, life goes on............................
  8. haha, nice one.Yeah, manure would be good if only to see wee Rooneys coupon when they get horsed out of the CL by the glorious Rangers.AND the chance to watch sundry English commentators eating their words after writing the Gers off.Tasty combination.
  9. CL without a doubt.Firstly,no one in Europe gives a shit if we win the SPL for the next 100 yrs in a row.....mickey mouse contest to them.Winning the CL though is the pinnacle of the European, and therefore world, club game.OK,winning nothing for the next 5 yrs is a real bummer but given that the smeltic fans have harped on about their feckin win,in a period when the competition was much more even than it is now,for the last feckin million years-and how many anniversary DVDs can they fuckin make about this?-the opportunity to parade the big cup,as well as the European kudos it would bring us,down the Copeland road AND the look on the timmies faces as we brought the cup home is just TOO much to resist.Fuckin priceless.
  10. exactly. No negativity only BELIEF.On the night, teeth gritted, sleeves rolled up and lets welcome this lot to IBROX.Send them on their way with a sore face and the sound of the rangers fans celebrating in the night.
  11. I dont think theres any worries about the Lyon game.On the evidence of the CL campaign so far surely to christ we can be confident of at least a point!
  12. Keevins is just a symptom of a wider problem in the broadcast and print media. In my view none of the so-called "pundits" give a damn about the quality of their output or providing a decent service to the listener/reader.The radio shows are the worst.A collection of buddy fests where various chums massage each others egos and bitch about their latest hate topic etc etc.I,d sack the lot of them and install some real professionals, assuming they exist in scotland,NOT ex-footballers as most of them seem to have trouble stringing two words together never mind sentences.Break open the cosy world of sports "journalism"-a misnomer if ever there was one-boot the muppets out on their arses and lets get some decent coverage-no matter how many priests were at their effin Daughters wedding(sheesh!)
  13. I,m not so sure it is simply because to many English folk this guy is just a transparent arse licker. All this "British this,British that" is designed to impress middle England but,in my experience anyway,a lot of folk think he is a pain in the arse Scot on the make and dont believe a word of it.To them he should just piss off back north of the border and take his scrounging scottish chums with him.Unfortunately,IMO,the Scottish Parliament has exacerbated this situation. How would you feel if Scots MPs are voting to deny you access to a local hospital or to increase tuition fees but your MP has no influence over these issues in Scotland? It just aint fair. Then when stories filter south about the scots proiposing to abolish tuition fees, prescription charges and examining PFI contracts and actually STOPPING some hospital closures its easy to see where the sense of grievance arises. For me Brown is doing nothing to sort this out anf having the SNP now in power, alongside a demoralised Labour--Libdem-Tory opposition just makes matters worse.A week,as the saying goes,is a long time in politics but the prevailing trends in British politics make me fear for the Union.big style.
  14. Well, its the old conundrum-how the hell a country with so many top quality players can so often fall on its ass?Look at the players at their disposal-Gerrard,Lampard,Rooney etc.I think they really missed a trick in not appointing O,Neil as their manager.Whatever might be said about the wee prat he knows how to get a team together(as he is currently doing so well at Aston Villa?Eh,well......)Anyway,Steve McLaren just looks like one of the usual,rent-a-gub mediocrities that English football seems to produce on a regular basis. If a manager cant at least compete convincingly with the squad available to McLaren then he should pack it in tout suite. The day England manage to ally their range of talent to hard work, organisation and discipline is the day they will finally come home with the big trophy they crave. :beer2:
  15. What has this sectarian mince to do with Rangers?
