We’re all well aware of what gets us into trouble. We’ve been warned, fined and asked repeatedly in the past to curb it. This is nothing new - why are supporters treating it like it’s a big shock ffs
Yet you want the board to tell you to behave

Thats because I was in the middle of writing player ratings and 700 word match report, two player reactions, steven gerrards post match interview and Connor Goldsons post match interview. Believe it or not, the inmediate aftermath of a big Rangers game is quite a busy time for a football journalist covering Rangers.

They are subtly telling people to fuck up before some arseholes sing about fenians tomorrow night, get us a third charge and get us kicked out of Europe.

Yes, we really really really needed to release it tonight.
As far as I know, we only found out about it today.
Since we found out today, and one more offence could see us thrown out of Europe, it was vital the fans were told about it.

Club 1872 Statement on UEFA Charges
    28 August, 2019
Club 1872 would like to echo the message from Rangers regarding the damaging charges from UEFA both in relation to the St Josephs match at Ibrox and the recent game in Poland against Legia Warsaw.
It is clear that UEFA has taken a decision to class sectarian singing in the same bracket as racism and as a result has a clear and rapidly escalating framework of punishments for any club charged with such offences. This means that we will quickly arrive at the point where Ibrox may be closed for a home European tie if outbreaks of sporadic sectarian singing continue. This will not only effect tens of thousands of our own supporters but also the management team and players, who would have to operate in such circumstances. This is particularly frustrating as the atmosphere generated at European games at Ibrox this season has been largely free of such sectarian songs.
To be absolutely clear, songs, words and terms classed as sectarian by UEFA include ‘The Billy Boys’, any reference to “fenians” or any pejorative terms about Catholics or the Pope. The charges do not relate only to one song but to anything in the brackets above, including add ons to otherwise inoffensive songs.
We share some of the concerns over the lack of transparency, accountability and consistency in the operations of FARE. However, those concerns cannot be properly addressed while we are in a position where FARE can provide UEFA with video evidence of sectarian singing involving even a small number of Rangers supporters, as was the case in Warsaw.
Club 1872 fully supports Rangers’ Everyone Anyone campaign. It is absolutely clear in the discussions that we have had in the past few weeks and months that the club will not tolerate sectarian behaviour. We will continue to work with them to ensure that there is constructive and meaningful engagement with supporters on this issue going forward.
Every single Rangers supporter must now take responsibility for promoting a positive image of our club and support. Ibrox is one of the most impressive arenas in European football when it is full and noisy. We have a host of ways to generate that unique atmosphere without reverting to songs which will see the club sanctioned. Let’s get Ibrox rocking on Thursday night and roar our team into the groups stages of the Europa League.

Nah, we're a Scottish club and we should focus on improving Scottish football not leaving it in the lurch
We are already pioneering youth football in Scotland with other clubs now beginning to follow our approach. Hopefully in time this will lead to a higher standard of league, more money etc.

If we are to get to where we want to be, we need to dominate games, and not give the referee a chance to influence it. That includes games against them.

Bluepeter9 reacted to To Be A Ranger in Steve Clarke hopes UEFA sectarian singing penalty helps Rangers ‘tackle fan behaviour’. ...by TOM ENGLISH
Overall it's not a negative as the op makes out. Clarke's quotes aren't just about us and he mentions he has been back at Ibrox with no incidents.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke hopes a Uefa punishment for sectarian singing from supporters will help Rangers eradicate unacceptable fan behaviour.
The club have been ordered to close part of Ibrox for Thursday's Europa League meeting with Legia Warsaw.
Clarke said he faced "sectarian" abuse from the "dark ages" at the ground last season while in charge of Kilmarnock.
"Maybe it will make some people think about what they're going to say in the future, hopefully," he said.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said he was sent off in April at celtic Park for reacting to sectarian abuse directed at him, and Clarke believes more must be done to tackle the issue.
"There are other people get it from the celtic fans," he told BBC Scotland. "It's not a one-way street. It's two different sides, two different clubs, two fantastic clubs, but they have to do a little bit more to stamp it out.
"Rangers have reacted very well to it. They're trying their best, as I'm sure the people at celtic are.
'Sometimes clubs have to try a little harder'
Rangers chairman Dave King apologised publicly to Clarke after February's 5-0 defeat in Govan. He also issued a strongly-worded statement in response to the Uefa punishment that means 3,000 seats on Thursday will be closed off, urging any supporter "unable to behave in a civilised manner" to "stay away from Ibrox and our club".
"I've been back at Ibrox since - no issues whatsoever," Clarke. "I had some wonderful supportive letters from Rangers supporters and not too many disruptive letters.
"I was actually very heartened by the response I got from a lot of people all over Scotland.".
The Scotland manager believes Hearts owner Ann Budge's decision to close a section of Tynecastle last season helped the club tackle fan misbehaviour, adding: "The clubs have to clamp down on it. And the clubs do try, but sometimes they maybe have to try a little bit harder.
"I thought the move by Ann Budge was brave and it's worked well for them because it gives people a little lesson and says 'look, you can't go into a football stadium and behave like an idiot'. You have to go into a stadium, support your team, sing all the songs that are supportive of your own team, rather than try to be negative towards the opposition."
Clarke says he "lost it" in an emotional press conference after Kilmarnock's 5-0 defeat back in February.
"I'd come back to Scotland and you think times would move on, Rangers were much more inclusive," said the former Chelsea defender.
"To get that on that particular night, listen, the chants started, it was fine, I was whatever I was, I was a 'W', no problem, it was their night.
"They [supporters] deserved their moment, I was happy to take that, but the sectarian singing, you don't need. If it happens in the street, it's a crime. If it happens in a football stadium, there are so many people doing it then suddenly it's not a crime. That can't be correct.
"I would love to think that in years to come it won't be an issue in Scotland and hopefully with education, with time, it will get better and become a thing of the past."

I'm actually hopeful that this Uefa decision can  be a catalyst in finally getting the message across to supporters that the times have changed and that it's no longer acceptable to continue with certain references in our songs, I'm talking here as a long time supporter ingrained in our history but inside Ibrox we must accept that change has come.
I'm of the opinion that we never really thought that stadium  or partial stadium closures would actually happen so just continued along on our merry way and dared anyone to try, well now that reality has stepped in and it's happened I think it's been a shock to the system, hopefully now that it has we will swallow our medicine, grudgingly accept what is expected of us and follow the clubs advice and get back to doing what we do best, supporting The Rangers and be able to celebrate come the seasons end like never before.
