Really such a post of nonsense / there was nothing half hearted about how he went in ( nor anything wrong with the defenders tackle) - he went in full blast and hurt his knee in a purely sports related injury!

It will be absolutely heartbreaking and horribly cruel that the guy has been pretty much an ever present through all the shit and may then end up missing the homestretch to us winning the 55. I really hope that doesn’t turn out to be the case because he has played such a huge part in us being a very good football team again.

I’d actually say nobody deserves it more than him in the playing squad right now.

Let's hope it's not as bad as feared and if it is then some Marv Andrews luck needs applied.
Guys been top class and deserves to win it on the pitch.
A true leader who has put it all on the line for us this season.

Looked lost every time he passed the half way line for his first 15-20 mins, but no faulting his efforts. Put into an extremely difficult position and can leave Belgium with his head held high.

I am an Antwerp supporter for over 29 years and happen to have lived in Scotland for over 2 years so do have some idea about both leagues.
For me Rangers is light favorites and this is the general feeling among Antwerp fans, but everyone thinks it can easily go both ways as well.
To give a bit of an idea who you are up against, Antwerp is the oldest team in Belgium established in 1880, a very traditional club. It had alot of financial difficulties in recent history and relegated to the 2nd league for 13 years. Now having a wealthy owner with a big fanbase and located in one of the biggest cities in Belgium they are back at he top of Belgian football and there to stay.
This season Antwerp has a better team than Standard and very unlucky not to win away there this weekend. At the moment I would say after Bruges who is miles away we are the 2nd best team in Belgium at the moment, with Genk being close.
Many Rangers fans see us as an attacking team with an open defence but this changed in 2021 after the previous coach has left to China for money. Our current coach plays more out of the organisation and as a result we score less/concede less. In the first games under the new coach it wasn’t good at all however there is a system now and the team is getting better every week creating more chances. We also had a good run in the league recently and get more points on average vs the previous coach.
We are missing a few key players, our Captain Haroun and our main striker Mbokani, both considered unmissable in this team for different reasons. Our only player who can play instead of Mbokani is Lamkel Ze who has been in magnificent form since he returned from the reserve squad after issues with the previous coach, but he is suspended for the first leg, we only have one other striker “Avenatti” on loan from Standard since January who funny enough faced Rangers in the group stages as well. He hasn’t performed well lately and still to be seen if be cause any treat against Rangers...
I expect a closed game due to missing firepower up front on our side for the first leg. I expect the coach to rely on Lamkel Ze pace on the counter attack in the return game at Ibrox

The Belgian league is overall a bit stronger as it has several decent teams with Bruges, Anderlecht, Standard, Genk, Gent and Antwerp, but Rangers probably had the slight edge I would say over Antwerp.
Both Hagi and Roofe played in Belgium last season. Hagi at Genk but hardly made the first 11 and Roofe at Anderlecht but didn’t really convince their either. This is also because the belgian league  is considered more tactical and defensive in comparison with other leagues like The Netherlands. Eg. The topscorer in NL came to Genk this season and is hardly scoring goals. It doesn’t mean the Belgian league is better than the Dutch but just very different to play against.
I couldn’t help noting some compared Antwerp to Willem ll but they aren’t at all similar, Willem ll has a smaller budget and also at the bottom in the Dutch league, defending in NL is generally weak and more naive as more focus on attack. Although some might have seen games under our previous coach where we did indeed defend naive at times but this unlike Antwerp today.
Wish you all good luck tomorrow and that the may win!

With blue tinted glasses I'd like to think he would stay but the reality is whenever Liverpool come calling he will be off.  And with all our best wishes.  So let's just enjoy this whilst it lasts.

Probably sooner than he would want, but if they came calling I don't think he could or would turn them down.
He'll leave a hero on my eyes whenever he does go.

Tbh I've not actually read any of the stories so not sure how it's actually been framed by them. If they've gone down the 'season could be stopped' they've taken what he said about not wanting the Gov to step in and stretched it out.
He also made the same point about not wanting the Gov to step in after Celtic went to Dubai and Lennon claimed loads of clubs were breaching the rules.

    Here's his full answer:
"It’s really disappointing to hear what’s gone on over the weekend with the Rangers players.”
“I don’t hold Steven Gerrard or Rangers Football Club responsible for this. The players who are involved in it need to take full accountability for their actions."
"No doubt Rangers will punish them financially and take as much money off them as possible. And no doubt the SFA and SPFL will step in and dish out the suspensions required.
“The last thing any of us want is the government stepping in and cancelling football. That’s not good for any of us. We’ve come through a hell of a lot together in terms of the challenges and the difficulties we have all faced and we all want to get the season finished. Unfortunately, like in any society, there are one or two individuals who let you down and that’s what’s happened again on this occasion."

I was in Jim's Presser yesterday. He didn't say anything close to that.

Yep, I've heard it's true as well. Sacking offences, given previous breaches by others, tbh.

And after Jones and Edmundson months back and the clear warnings given, then fuck them get them to fuck and don't let their feet touch the ground as they're booted out of the club.

I think he's becoming less of a luxury player. He has improved physically and seems happy to put in the hard yards defensively and puts the tackles in.

Jack, Davis, Barisic, Hagi and Goldson had it in abundance today.
Augers well for the European games coming up.

Och not really mate I’ve made an arse of myself in plenty threads on here and dare I say it Ibrox with certain opinions
Any Rangers fan - or football fan for that matter - that says they’ve never got something wrong or went a bit overboard is lying
We all want the same thing at the end of the day, rarely is any criticism on here out of malice

The last thing Rangers need is a rookie manager! ( when Gerard signed)
I hate when we sign players at end of career - Ray Wilkins and Defoe!
    😏

    My first Rangers hero.
Have luckily met him on two occasions, had a brief drink with him on one, and he is just a brilliant guy to be around who takes a genuine interest in fans.

I can’t help but love the guy. Love seeing him on the tv and hearing him on the radio. More than anything I’ve lost count of the amount of times I left stadiums growing up with my old man after McCoist had put the opposition to the sword, especially the tarriers.

You will never hear me say a bad word about McCoist even if he was a shite manager. He bleeds blue and such a likeable soul.

I enjoyed the article fwiw. He was my hero growing up and while he wasn't the best of managers he had a lot of shit to deal with that no manager should have to deal with. He'll always be a hero to me and having met him on 3 occasions I count myself very lucky as he is a genuinely good guy.
