  1. I agree with some of the comments on here. I think McCoist would like to play more attcking football and include a few more of the youngsters. I know it was only Hamilton (and they got put down to 10 men) but the team he sent out there was much more encouraging than anything Smith has put out this season and it showed in the play. He likes to play the younger guys such as Aaron and knows that the fans like to see attacking football. I think McCoist is getting unfairly labelled because of his association with Smiths teams. My only concern with Ally would be discipline. I think he might be 'one of the boys' which I don't think you can be to bring the discipline that's needed. I think he should be given a go.
  2. I actually thought he looked like one of our better players today. He looked really up for it, all over the park.
  3. My grandad said Motherwell have always been a bogie team for Celtic and it's been proved again today! Great to see them hit back. Looking at livetext on the BBC it sounds like it was Motherwells only attempt on goal just about which makes it pretty sweet!
  4. Edu had a good game tonight. Good control and calm under pressure. I also agree that no matter what he does he won't get a game ahead of Barry. He may get a game if we play 5 in midfield against Celtic, but then again Walter may prefer big Lee!
  5. You won't have to rack your brains too much to guess who's got my vote!
  6. I can't see Walter risking too many in the league but I thinkthe cups are different. Last nights game was an ideal opportunity to get the youngsters playing. Fleck got 10 minutes but that's not enough. I'd also like to see Aaron and Edu get a chance. I've heard Wilson looks promising too. Perhaps Forfar is the persfect game to play a few more of these players.
  7. If we can't spend heavily because we get in debt and all cheap buys become deadwood then there is only one solution, a decent youth system. That was the idea behind the PLG appointment but that didn't quite work out. Walter goes to the other extreme and signs players that are too old and are past their best. If it wasn't for Advocaat coming in all those years ago Barry Ferguson may well have been out of Ibrox without being given a chance. How many more gems have we got unearthed because of Smiths unwillingness to play them? To me we need to reply more on youth if we can't spend a lot of money, but the youngsters never get a chance.

  10. Haven't had the chance to meet Schwantz unfortunately. A lot of the Rangers fans in Barrow go to the Bar Continental on Abbey road.
  11. I personally rate Burke. I don't think there's another player in the squad who on his day can beat players like Burke does. If he keeps injury free I think we'll regret selling him.
  12. It's a stark contrast to 10 years ago. We had Dutch internationals on our books and class acts such as Amoruso, Ferguson etc... We would never have sold our top striker off for such a poor amount of money all those years ago. Granted times have changed financially and we're paying for our extravagance now but how come we have so little to show for the money we got from Cuellar and Hutton, we certainly haven't got a £17m worth of players back in the last 12 months. P.S. Nice to see a bike fan who remembers the golden 500cc era. Schwantz is a legend.
  13. It stinks to hear Boyd and possibly Ferguson, Mendes and Bougherra might be on their way out. What is worrying me just as much is how Walter will react and what sort of a team he'll pick if these players do go. Will Edu and maybe Fleck replace Ferguson and Boyd, or will my gut feeling be right and the likes of Dailly, McCulloch and Adam be brought into the team? If we are struggling for cash I would be much happier to see the club building for the future and giving young players a chance to shine instead of playing the deadwood, who should ideally be the players to be going, not Boyd and Ferguson. I'm sure every fan will struggle to accept our best players going and the club struggling with money, but I will be mortified if we have to watch a team like the one that got beat by Kaunas again. Just shows how costly that european loss was, who would have thought selling Cuellar was just the start...
  14. I'm from England but my grandad's from Belfast. As my dad isn't into football my grandad was my football influence. The first I can remember of Rangers is their run in Europe in 1992 and getting the white Adidas away kit for Christmas. The only pain is telling everybody why I support Rangers but aren't Scottish and explaining the Ulster connection!
  15. Ferguson will play from the start, of that there is no doubt. Niguez has been poor in the reserves and plainly isn't ready for the 1st team yet, although he has shown some signs of improvement in the last 2 weeks. When did you last see a top side start with 2 natural wingers in a 4-4-2? It's a luxury we can't afford at the moment, but playing with 1 natural wide player shouldn't be. Whether that should be Burke on the right or Beasley on the left is a matter of opinion, but personally I'd prefer to keep Davis in the side, which means Beasley on the left. I don't think Man utd do too badly playing with wingers. I know Burke and Niguez are hardly Ronaldo and Giggs but it's all relative and the SPL full backs aren't Bosingwa and Cole. As for Burke tracking back against Villareal, when do you really see Ronaldo, Wright Phillips and Figo tracking back? Nobody would be saying they played a poor game solely because they failed to track back.
