  1. Agreed. The point I was called out on, and why I was explaining myself is that it is not unreasonable to say Sterling would be classed as a midfielder as he’s not a striker nor a defender. indeed, with the 4-2-3-1 set up he would undoubtably be classed a midfielder (and a defensive one at that).
  2. Just explaining beyond all reasonable doubt what I consider is midfield since he can’t seem to refrain from trying to make a cunt of folk on here at every opportunity.
  3. Always the smart arse, eh? He wouldn’t be in defence, or upfront. Nor would he be playing in goal so that leaves the middle third of the pitch most commonly referred to as the ‘midfield’. Id have Sterling playing in a 451 formation. ‘What is your definition of a 4-5-1 formation?” I here you ask. “The 4-5-1 formation has a back line of four defenders – two centre-backs and two full-backs. Ahead, five players comprise the MIDFIELD unit, with three central MIDFIELDERS and two wider MIDFIELDERS. A lone centre-forward operates as the highest player in the structure”. In other words, Sterling would actually be playing in MIDFIELD, maybe not central but certainly in the MID section of the FIELD for the majority of the game. Hence my assertion that he would be playing in MIDFIELD. its not really that hard to grasp is it? And before you try claiming Sterling would be deployed as a winger, “the terms winger or wide player refer to a non-defender who plays on the left or right sides of the pitch. These terms can apply to left or right MIDFIELDERS, left or right attacking MIDFIELDERS, or left or right forwards”.
  4. yep. Tav, Goldson, Souttar, Yilmaz (if fit) Lundstram Sterling, Diomande, Cantwell, Silva* Dessers (*possibly Lawrence instead of Silva and bring on Sima and Silva/Lawrence as the game progresses)
  5. I was thinking ‘as well as’ Diomande, not ‘instead of’
  6. Ah, well in that case Tav’ll need to place till he’s 40 😀 reread my Google search on koeman and i never noticed it was 182 league goals. Hence my misplaced optimism 😀
  7. Another 3 seasons and there is every chance Tav gets close to or pips Koeman.
  8. Would rather Sterling played in midfield rather than LB.
  9. that's not strictly true. its usually fantastic play by the rest of the team and then he goes and fucks it up. a fair amount of his goals have come from some individual brilliance... and there in lies the issue: he flatters to deceive AND deceives to flatter :)
  10. i was racking my brains as the colours reminded me of something but i couldn't place it. thought it was an old tv show or a chocolate biscuit from the 70s :)
  11. Well at least that explains the choose of colours. still fucking awful
  12. This has got to be one of the worst concept kits i've ever seen. Go the whole hog and pair it up with these socks!
  13. Dessers has a shot conversion rate of 20.7% in the SPFL. Shankland is sitting at 24.1% this season. Morelos shot conversion rate in his final season was 15.8% So for every 33 shots, Shankland will most likely score 1 more goal than Dessers. Dessers' shot conversion isn't really the issue. Its the glaring opportunities he totally fucks up. To a degree, these howlers are offset by the ones he scores that nobody expects, but the almighty cock ups leave the lasting impression of him being a complete diddy. I've fought his corner time and time again but he is a VERY frustrating player and does lack a strikers instinct when he has time to think. We do need better up front.
  14. he's a great player when fit. put the ball in his court and see if he backs himself by offering him 2 options: sign a pay as you play one year deal or sign elsewhere.
  15. There is a big difference between reading something and comprehending it.
  16. Fucked out, knocked out. Same difference. Its just a turn of phrase. Never once said the players shouldn't be proud of their efforts. We did however hand Benfica 2 goals on a plate. In that regards, we fucked it. Hence my use of 'fucked out of the competition'.
  17. Aye, competing every single season domestically. Rangers and celtic fight for trophies every single season. Does that make both European giants (which is what the OP claimed Benfica are)? Nope it does not. We've both won European trophies but, at best, we could be described as FORMER European giants. Benfica last won a European trophy 62 years ago. Since the turn of the century have they reached 2 Europa League finals. So have Rangers. So, how am i a 'fucking crank' by saying FORMER? And since you 'cant be fucked' replying to explain how i'm 'pathetic' and 'tragic' I'll assume you agree that 1. The 'best' outcome is not to get fucked out a competition (or 'knocked out' if 'fucked out' is too strong a phrase for your liking), and 2. We gifted Benfica their goals.
  18. So does the bottom half the EPL. Doesn’t make any of them European giants. Would you class Forest as Euro giants or FORMER Euro giants? I also notice you never responded to the other parts of my reply so I’ll ask again. Was getting knocked out the ‘best outcome’ and did we gift them their goals?
  19. Read the fucking post. It’s not a dig at the team. It’s a dig at the OP. And referring to Benfica as a former giant doesn’t ignore the fact they have spent 100 million on a squad. So have the entire bottom half of the EPL. Spending money doesn’t make them European giants. Winning European trophies does. Would you consider Nottingham Forest a European giant if we faced them In the EL? Rather than calling people bell ends and questioning their support perhaps you should refrain from fan boy reactions and consider the context comments are actually made.
