Sterling has only played 820mins for Rangers, so just over 9 games worth, and in that time he has played right back, left back, centre half, centre mid, left mid and right wing and remarkably has excelled in every position. MoM in midfield (2nd half in EL v Real Betis away and Cup final v Hearts) then 'outwings' a winger (albeit a limited one) yesterday and could have scored 2. Just as effective as a starting player or coming on as a sub. His 'natural' position is quite possibly his weakest. Mental Clement must surely love the lad.

You were commenting on the number of posts I have made on the Dessers thread (you called it my ‘shrine to Dessers’) but you chose to quote one of the very few posts on the thread where I didn’t mention Dessers at all). Also, I’m not sure how my previous reply suggest ‘don’t question me!’

And then by way of examples you pointed out Miller and McDonald scored more goals for old firm teams , presumably because it was easier. They both improved by a factor averaging 1.4. Im pointing out if Shankland were to join, and its easier to score for Rangers then it’s reasonable to expect his tally should increase by a similar ratio….so we should all look forward to a 53 goal season.

So are you expecting Shankland to improve his goal scoring rate at similar levels to McDonald and Miller? If you applied the average improvement in the two you mentioned (a combined goal tally of 337 rising to 478 is a factor of 1.41) that would place Shankland on an expected 53 goals next season simply due to the fact he plays for Rangers 🤣

Dessers and Shankland are pretty much like for like in terms of return on a pro rata basis/current form basis (bearing in mind Dessers is considered ‘shite’ by many and Shankland’s clearly in the form of his life) so a high performing Shankland is (at best, marginally better) than an improving Dessers. Not really seen enough of Danilo but when he was played he’s missed some absolute sitters. No point in flogging a player who’s settling/settled only to bring in a replacement at roughly the same cost with no real uplift in return. And that’s what we’d be doing bringing in Shankland to replace on or both the players you mention. Would love to be proved wrong but i just can’t see Shankland improving the team.
