We are also getting dangerously close to a point where the young Scottish players coming through who should know what Rangers is all about and what’s required aren’t actually going to know what Rangers is all about because we’ve been shite for the majority of the past 12 years and that’s all they are going to know.

that is a horrible but true thought :(

My point is simple…….  We need decent football players with a winning mentality that are highly motivated and competitive.

I couldn’t give two fucks if they are “Rangers men” or not. You start looking for “Rangers men “ you have immediately shrunk your talent pool.

that, I can get onboard with, like I said earlier, maybe the Rangers men bit is too easy to say, players who actually give their all with a winning mentality would do us fine. In my personal opinion I would like to see a Scottish core of players who have an understanding of what our traditions are, if that means they are a Rangers supporter or not then it wont matter to me as long as they give us 100%.

  3. are Ayr fighting on upto 4 fronts every season? are Ayr expected to win the premier league and possible 2 cups every year? , you know exactly what I'm saying with the expectations comment your just choosing to carry on being silly.

yes I live in Scotland, have done for 46 years, supported Rangers all my life, I know what myself and every other fan expects even though we all know sometimes its unreasonable, but one thing thats not unreasonable is that our tradition of winning and giving 100% is upheld no matter who plays for us, and we arent getting that in the last few years from the players, wether that means we need a Scottish core or some Rangers men or just professionals who do what their paid for is everyones own opinion.

    Plus…….

say you had the best young Scottish player in your sights. Would you refuse him because he supported Alloa?

what you on about now, nobody in this thread said anything about refusing players, as you pointed out, Souttar doesnt support us, but hes Scottish and hes been here for a bit now so he gets what its about as saw by his reaction at full time yesterday.

injuries 😂 we’ve injured the majority of our players at training ffs

So is this not the expectations of every club?   Do you think players playing for Ross County turn up and don’t give 100%? Or Falkirk or QOTS or any club. They might be a poor football player but I am positive they give their all.

your thread mate is a car crash

fans of other clubs outwith us and them dont have the demands placed on them we put on ours, but you know that your just trying to be a dick and if its that much of a car crash why you posting in it?

What exactly would they know regarding “expectations”?

I’m a bit thick so could you actually spell it out please.

That we need to win every game. That us as a support wont accept not giving 100% in every game, That they need to be prepared for every other teams players to want to injure us. That the refs will bow to fenian pressure.

the list is long and you dont need to be a Rangers man to know that, you just need to be clued up on what it takes to play for Rangers. Most players in Scotland dont need to deal with any of this outwith us and them.

I believe having 'Rangers men' or at least the best young Scottish talent, is an important identity of the club.

In hindsight, we should have signed Ferguson when we had the chance.

Souttar, Ferguson and Shankland wouldve given us a spine of Scottish talent, they would know that at Rangers the expectations are much higher than at the rest of the dross and we wouldnt have had to rely on Goldson, Lundstram and Dessers as our spine (or lack of)

Their most successful captain of the modern era was a “Rangers man”. As is, I’m led to believe, their current captain.

At least they used to be.

    It means absolutely fuck all.

plenty of their best Scottish players over the years have been brought up as Rangers men, but they knew what the rivalry was all about and how to deal with Scottish football.

John Souttar is dreadful, so if he's what you consider a Rangers Man we need less of them.

Our problem is the players are shit.

I dont agree with that, I think Souttar is a decent player who is Scottish and knows what it means to play for us, unfortunatly hes stuck next to a fucking idiot in Goldson and has hardly been played in his porper position, stick him on the right and get Balogun or someone else who can actually play and we might see why he was signed.

  10. maybe Rangers men was simply wishful thinking but I still stand by the fact that we need players who understand Scottish football and what it means to play for Rangers. You can have Scottish players who know what it means to play for Hearts or Dundee or whoever but the expectations are completely different. I'm not saying make McCausland captain or anything like that, I'm saying we need someone in there who will go the extra mile or that 10% thats been mentioned, we have had plenty foreigners in the past who "got it" I dont feel this currant generation of footballer thinks about anything other than pay day and it being a job, maybe Im too sentimental and times have changed though I can accept that.

Modern football is different from 30 years or so ago.

We just need professionals who take pride in their work, who listen to instructions from the manager and give it their all. It’s not a requirement that they are supporters but if it’s possible to get that as well it’ll give them that 10% more determination in each game.

Being able to handle pressure isn’t something you get by being a Rangers fan.

I think thats what I'm looking for tbh, that extra 10% because it actually hurts to lose, I just dont get that from any of the currant mob, your right though professionals who take pride in their work is whats needed, these idiots put on sad faces because they think it will appease the fans, last night showed that a sad face an a clap wont appease the fans any more, they are sick of it.

In recent years we have had Allan McGregor, Ryan Jack, Andy Halliday, Scott Arfield & Steven Davis at the club and we have still collapsed multiple times.

It’s never brought up as an issue until we go on a bad run and then suddenly there’s a clamour for it among a small section of the support.

its always the case that when you have a bad spell you look to the things that might have made a difference. McGregor is a good one but there was only so much he could affect by being in goals and it looked like he had a good relationship with Tav and Goldson who I feel are our main problem. Steven Davis is another good shout and I do feel he shouldve been club captain but he was never the guy to bark at the others like a Gough or Ferguson.

  13. as the title suggests, we have nobody who gets what it means to play for Rangers, closest we have is Alex Rae in the dugout and maybe John Souttar on the park but we have nobody who would run through a brick wall for us or someone who would tell the truth in an interview. I've always felt in the past to be successfull we need a strong spine of people who have grown up supporting us who would put their body on the line for us, the last person we had like that was Halliday but he was a limited footballer.

Everytime I watch these footballing nobodies we have playing for us I just dont get the feeling that they go home sad to have drawn or lost, I dont get the feeling that they feel sorry for the fans. They most likely get home, have a smoothie, slippers on and watch Netflix then go to training next day and have a laugh with their mates.

Although I agree to a certain extent and some of our signings have been questionable even when we where in talks with them eyebrows where raised but I think the issue lies deeper here.

I genuinely believe the mindset in our playing squad right now can be so weak when facing adversity that it has an affect on other members of the playing squad and that goes for new signings also. New signings are coming in and being around that pish attitude and performances and joining in.

If any of us go to a new job and we are put in next to guys or girls with stinking attitudes and lack luster performances it's only a matter of time before we start dipping due to frustrations

I bet that when any new signing comes in you have Tav and Goldson at them saying "welcome to the team but wait till after xmas the fans demand so much from us and they dont realise that we are just humans with feelings" honestly can just see them two instilling fear into the new guys because they cant handle it.

  15. what I dont get is why can we see the problems but the guys in the dugout cant?

we can all see that Lawrence is total gash

we can all see that using Sterling at left back doesnt work

we can all see that Tavs form and fitness has dropped off a cliff

we can all see that Goldson is brutal

we can all see that Tav, Goldson, Lundstram and Barasic are bringing us down

why the hell have Gerrard, Gio, Beale and Clement not seen that those 4 idiots are costing us big time, they are huge earners, they have too much influence and they have a terrible mentality, I wouldnt be surprised if the 4 of them are going about thinking they run the team and undermining managers leading to them getting the sack.

  16. Sterling - stay                              Souttar - stay

Butland - stay                              McCausland - stay

Ridvan - stay                               Sima - stay (hopefully)

Diomande - stay                         Raskin - stay

Cortez - stay (maybe)               Cantwell - stay

Danilo  - stay                              Lowry - stay

    --------------------------------------------------------

Tavernier - out                           Dessers - out

Goldson - out                             Silva - out

Lundstram - out                         Wright - out

Lawrence - out                          Matondo - out

Roofe - out                                Balogun - out

Jack - out                                  Davies - out

Barisic - out                               McLaughlin - out

Dowell - out                               King - out

    Lammers - out

Thats who I'd keep and get rid of, but theres no chance of that happening, thats a massive turnover needed that we wont have the cash to do and we wont generate anywhere

near the needed amount of cash from player sales and to sell them we'd need other teams to want them. This last few years we have failed miserably in bringing in the right

players so make us better on the park and to make us money when they go. I think we have finally found a manager who could do something with us but my biggest fear is

that we lose him because we cant afford to back him properly.
