  1. Thus increasing our chances of winning the title infront of the scum, sounds good.
  2. Sportsound website has it down as starting at 22:30

    First time

Well with some time to kill I figured I should probably attempt this malarky, C&C welcome.
  4. What attack? Nothing happened. Honest. Now...
  5. Hemdani and both for me, Thomson really seems to up his game when playing along sided Hemdani. Which leaves those to holding and Fergie pushing forward (as seen against Caley). The problem with playing all three limits our options elsewhere and we end up with the much maligned though very succesful 4-5-1, given our performances against Hearts and Motherwell, perhaps we should be playing 4-5-1 away from home?
  6. Actually last night, whilst trying to soak in the result, I thought to myself "I wonder what Shogun thought". The man's a legend! Hopefully he'll make it back to dry land soon.
  7. Brilliant from Hutton, nice finish from Adam too, time to go for it!
  8. Pretty sure that if we started using Ba ba blacksheep, they'd still use it against us. They're a minority in the sheep community and thus it would be bigoted to single them out. Not to mention the fact that singing about sheep is apparently offensive to Aberdeen fans and the SFA have said it won't be tolerated. We'll be silent by the time they've approved what we sing.
  9. Could have been a whole lot worse. Neither team should be underestimated, but when you look at some of the teams we could have had, we should be fairly happy. Obviously we're not through either qualifying round yet, so here's hoping we don't entirely screw up. The fact the unwashed got Spartak makes it even better. Ideally now the tic crash out and we go through and get the whole financial allocation.
  10. As mentioned we couldn't afford him, wouldn't want him even if we could. Nowt to do with his attitude or his ties to them. Good player when he turns it on, but four clubs in four years says it all, fecking mercenary.
  11. A lot of players manage to shove Burke out the way fairly easily. A signing like this doesn't really have a downside, he's not likely to be thrown straight into the first team and it can't hurt to have a larger squad with youngsters who can come in if/when we need them.
  12. What's stopping us from selling Gow for a few million in a few years. If premiership clubs are interested now and he comes in and performs, what's to stop them from offering a few million for him in 4-5 years time?
  13. I don't buy into this theory about Celtic dominating. Are they really? Granted they've consistantly been top of the league for the last four years and it's been a while since we ran away with the SPL. But man for man are they a better team? With the exception one or two European Class players we proved in our last encounter that we can more than match them on the pitch and the current situation lies on the fact that they've been through the "penny pinching" and brought through some good young players. Which is where we are now. They've cut their debt and can now spend their Champions League money on higher quality players, which is what we can do if we buy good young players for less money now. As for my high expectations, there's no reason why we can't mount a challenge in atleast one of the cups, with the luck of the draw our "Worst Rangers Team in recent memory" made it to the last 16 and deserved to go further. There's no reason why we can't do that again with the right motivation. As for the league it shouldn't even be considered we MUST win the league next year Celtic aren't everything they claim to be. They only difference between us is that they're taking their chances in games when we weren't. Logically we can cut the gap this year.
  14. Is it time to reassess the term 'Rangers Class'? Especially now when we're in the midst of the transfer window, at least one member of the forums is coming out and criticizing every player we're being linked with, oft citing the reason that these players are "not Rangers Class". I just wondered what it was exactly these people are looking for. Considering the current transfer climate; a world where a fairly standard midfielder like Owen Hargreaves is valued at around 20-25 million, where mercenary footballers can hold teams to ransom for contracts heading towards the ?100,000/week mark and where even English Championship clubs can offer 2-4 million on a single player whilst offering them five figure multi year contracts. Added to the fact that it's the mid season window; at which point most clubs are settled and don't have to sell and as such can add a million or two to a players value. In particular people who claim SDM should cough up large amounts of money, who is it these supporters are looking for us to bring in? When evaluating some of our stronger targets, people were more than happy for us to bring in Brown and/or Thomson at the start of the season and at the start of January now it looks as though they're likely to move (the paper talk of club preference being irrelevant) would fans be happy to spend the 4-5 million to bring these two in as opposed to the 2-2.5 million we could spend to bring in Hartley and Gow? Bearing in mind of these four players none of them have proved anything more than midtable mediocrity with the exception of one Scottish Cup against a then second division team? Is it possible that given the current market, young Scottish players could be the way forward despite not being the same class as the Laudrup's, Gazza's, Numan's and DeBoer's? Looking back to the NIAR team players like Cleland, Durie and Ian Ferguson were never European or World class players yet they did their job and played their part in one of the most successful periods in the clubs history. Even Super Ally was never going to be the driving force behind Euro success. Yet players like Svensson, Hemdani, Murray and to a lesser extent Boyd (who was criticized around the time of his signing for not being Rangers Class) are heavily criticized when they can help to balance the ship before you can take it forward. Weir could easily help us for 6 months at the back so we can take second and secure the chance of Champions League Football and money next year. Do these fans looking for the top brass to spend millions remember what happened last time we started spending big money? Did the money spent on Flo, Kanchelskis and more recently Buffel bring success? So let me pose a few questions; What does Rangers Class mean to you? Would these fan's consider any of the current team Rangers Class; a team mostly full of bosmans/cheap transfers? Say for instance you've got 10 million this January, who would you realistically try to bring in given the market? Would these fans spend 10-20 million now for five years of short term success only to find ourselves back here in ten years time? Personally I'd be happy to see the likes of Gow/Hartley/Webster/Weir pull on a Rangers shirt if it means we end up second this year followed by some success (the league, a cup and at least another last 16 cup) Next year and building ffom there. Just thought I'd throw this out their and see what people's opinions are.
