There is a gap in quality and numbers between the squads. They have forwards and sub forwards who score goals. I try to think every match who will score for us and think Tavenier with a penalty or free kick is the most likely. This should not be the case for a team our size. Front three are miss more than hit and midfield have not pulled their weight for years in the scoring dept. Even central defenders are below average in set piece goals.

The gap in quality is obvious; they are faster, smarter and look fitter than us. They have strength in depth, players, especially upfront, who can come on and make an impact. We have Wright and Matondo!! They have proactive midfielders, we have midfielders who always seem to be at full stretch just trying to get the ball. They take quick set pieces which still seem to catch out our players. We have a superior keeper and arguably a better back four but we really need to find money to do what has been needed for ages: clear out the deadwood, the permanently injured and the plodders, replacing them with players who can play at pace and have the ability to pass and control ball and game and strikers who can fulfil the description. A hard ask following years of shoddy recruitment and criminal waste of money and I have no clue of how to fund what is needed. Maybe get rid of the youth setup which apart from 2 players in 20 years has only benefited other teams in our league and below. Yes I am sick at what seems to be continual disappointment and heartbreak my grandkids feel when we fall down to them and worse teams when we think we have a chance.

Honestly was surprised he wasn’t hooked earlier. Watched the highlights and astounded he was back on after half time; clearly was not able or willing to do the job he was supposed to do. He was so far off McGregor it was embarrassing and was playing in his own little world not for the team.

I think it is because t shows how poor our squad is.

There is a huge gap between the squads in terms of numbers and quality. Still relying on Wright, who was not deemed good enough for Aberdeen, to come on to rescue the game is shocking. We need another couple of strikers as well as Silva since Dessers was shown up yet again as a donkey unable to fashion a clean strike, hold the ball up or even link play.Patience must be running out regarding Cantwell , we played with 9 men with these two. Up front the only threat came from the youngest player on the park and in midfield Sterling was the only one who looked the part. Despite my reservations Yilmaz did well in defence and going forward -

Faster, fitter and smarter, able to pass and move but above all they can finish. -

When will this team stop being surprised by the quick throw in, corner and free kicks? McGregor getting to boss the game again. -

The biggest worry for me,I do not rate him defensively or going forward. Wonder how long he will last today. -

I actually agree that at Motherwell the decisions were more than tight and VAR disallowing goals down to mm is ridiculous. However, since he arrived he has been stupidly and clearly caught offside far too often when just a look would keep him onside. -

The number of times, in all competitions, he has been caught offside is more than ridiculous. Even with his lack of pace just timing his run or looking across the line would help him. -

Just wish someone would teach him the offside rule. -
Hope not, looked like an awkward central defender trying to play midfield when Dundee utd tried that briefly.

Tractor boys standard issue.

Walter had proper defenders, hard working talented midfielders and forwards who could nick goals. We cannot defend corners and sadly it goes downhill from there. -
Like Sands a star in MLS but unable to work out what to do in a situation where any thought or imagination is needed or where an opponent does something that is not on the play book. i did think he was hard done by with VAR.

Leon King linked with a loan move - Questionable source
docspiderman replied to Fergieblue's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Is it two players in the last twenty five years who have been on loan and become first team players? I find it embarrassing that most of our loaned out players rarely get starts in the lower leagues and get a few minutes late in games. We need to have some way of making sure that loans are beneficial to club and player because the evidence over the past quarter century show that it is not. -
Sands was supposed to be a superstar as well. Our MLS signings have been found out as players with no ingenuity or spontaneity and little on field awareness, in fact the only success I can remember is Edu. Our real USA successes; Beasley and Reyna had experience playing in Europe.

He had chances but seems to have difficulty in decision making and sharpness. Not convinced he is an improvement on Sakala.

You are right, it really is depressing, especially as Lawrence has been very poor in the time he has been on the pitch. Cantwell has been mediocre since the start of the season, not just the last few weeks. Our squad is turgid when you look at how our regular and back up players perform. When a youngster comes on and shows up the so called stars maybe time to make hard and honest decisions about our signings over the past two years.
-
The bottom line is that our squad is one of the poorest quality in the top division since the early eighties. A lot of similarities; players brought in who have no history of consistent performances. We have relegation regulars, failures from other leagues, one dimensional plodders even at SPL level who can put in a decent performance once in a while. We are suffering for poor choices at coaching level and even more in player recruitment going back to the crazy hiring of conman Pedro. It is a damning indictment that our two most consistent players were signed seasons ago one by Warburton and one by Gerrard. Good teams have a strong spine; keeper, central defenders, central midfield, striker. We have Butland and Goldson and nothing else. Midfield has been a huge factor for a season and a half and our front three combinations are lower league quality.

I would give pass marks to McAusland , Lundstram, Butland and maybe Barasic but the rest were nowhere near good enough to justify a wage. I thought the international break would have been a chance to get the players fitter and gel into a system but if anything they are toiling for fitness and looked as if the ball was a stranger and team mates invisible.
