Haha. Cheers Craig.
If it wasn't for unfair fixture congestion then the most successful manager in Rangers' history could have done the quadruple with an inherited team. In a worsening financial situation ( which is also worse than Celtic's), he is still competing against the most successful Celtic manager in the open era.
Cuellar, our best player, who Smith signed, had to be sold through no fault of his own.Bougerra will also have to be sold this season. What hope does he have of building a team (or any manager) when he is slated in the face of diversity and unable to keep his signings because they are good and are sold for financial reasons- not to mention the fact that fans with the memory span of about two weeks have no appreciation of his (even recent) achievements.
He might have made decisions we disagree with, but looking at the whole picture, he has been (in both his terms) a fantastic asset.
In my mind, Smith won the league last season. He did the job asked of him, then fixture congestion brought on by the SPL caused Rangers to faulter.
Even in the previous season (06/07) when Smith inherited the team rangers' form was title-winning form, but Le Guen had us so far behind that the title had already been surrendered in January.
