  1. If we have to go into Div 3, then why not apply to the FA and start at the bottom of the English League? At least if we made it to the Premier League, the money would be worth it
  2. Not a fit and proper person ________no shit, Sherlock!
  3. Wee Willie was my all time Rangers hero, lots of my mates raved about Jim Baxter, but watching Wee Willie torment the opposition every week was amazing. T hen it was back home to play in the streets and I always was Wee Willie. Simply the best!
  4. Kyle Lafferty has had more effect on the team this season than most people believe. He is a decent player, especially when he has the ball at his feet and he is running at defenders. He played very well yesterday and deserves better support form the fans. We need him at the club, he, like Healy & Davis, are true Rangers fans and it means the world to him to play here. He will become one of our most important players.
  5. I think Mo Edu was reasonable yesterday. I wonder if that is because we were on the front foot more than usual. When we are constantly backing off and allowing opponents time on the ball, it is important to keep the ball much more, which as we all know is not one of his strengths. With players pushing forward, there were more targets for him to hit forward and therefore his distibution was better (yes, I know it wouldn't take much!) Once he got one or two passes to team mates, I think his confidence rose and he started playing better. He also was fairly competent at right back. He is not my favourite player at Ibrox and in recent games he has stood out in his terrible distribution and ball retention (all those who gave Barry Ferguson a hard time for passing the ball square so often should take note), but let's give him some credit for his performance yesterday. Speaking of which, Davie Weir's tackle on Samaras was pretty impressive, especially as he was restricted by the extra weight of Gary Hooper in his pocket!!!
  6. Lee McCulloch has had a good season, but for me Steven Naismith has been our best player
  7. I am not sure anything much will change, unless we sell the club and pick up some big money. Walter Smith is looking at what we have available and making us hard to beat. When Paul le Guen tried to shape Rangers in a different way, our wonderful "support" couldn't handle it. We were losing games by experimenting. Walter Smith was brought in to "steady the ship", make sure we don't lose. In doing so, we had the best European Run since 1972 and Walter Smith's tactics were ok. he has stuck by that, and when we had pace up front, it worked. With the departure of Miller, we lack that pace and therefore the tactics dont work so well. Waletr Smith believes in experience over youth and will always take that if offered. We sit and argue about all the things that go wrong, but we don't see the players in training, how they are feeling, are they fit, are they ill etc on a day to day basis. Walter Smith does. He also has had several year's experience managing football teams at the highest level, which is a bit more than me or anyone on here who is slagging him off. He has the job - so support him!
  8. You have to realise that Walter Smith's comments are taken by the media and sensationalised. He was asked the question about the supporters getting restless as we failed to break down the Killie defence. His response was to put into perspective that the squad is very thin on the ground and until they are all back fit, we will just have to scrap for every point. The Daily Mail, the amazing conspiracy seeking rag, then takes his comments and turns it into "Walter blasts fans". The Daily Mail, like so many other so called "news" papers will publish any story, real or not to sell more. Walter Smith saying that the fans were, as usual, very supportive but nervous and that their nervousness can affect the team, doesn't sell papers. Walter Smith has done a marvellous job at Ibrox with limited resources, and stupid comments by the Daily Mail and by people who believe articles in the papers should not detract from that. Now let's get behind Walter and his team
  9. The issue with Edu is that he has a poor first touch and he often gives the ball away - today was no different. Diouf dropped too deep in the first half, but started to push up and win a few headers in the second half. The real problem is that we lack pace. When Walter plays the defend and hit them on the break, we need pace up front to do this. Diouf doesn't have it, nor does Healey. It may feel like we should complain, but we are missing big players for us at the moment and we are still in a strong place in the league. Our second string (which was effectively what was on the park today) can win at St Mirren, but will struggle against better teams. For those who criticise Walter Smith, sorry guys, but when did you suddenly become more knowledgeable the him? He knkows the players, what they can do what they cant. He also knows how they are doing in training etc, none of us do. So let's get behind Walter and give him some support for his last hurrah. And yes, it bothers me that we have some players on the pitch who are not really up to the standard we are used to, but if they have a blue shirt on, I support them. I just wish they would pass the ball better!
  10. For the first time that I have ever seen, Rangers captain David Weir is substituted. Has he played his last game in a blue shirt? He was wickedly exposed in the last Old Firm game and needed to be baled out tonight as well. He has been a great servant to the club, especially considering that he was meant to be a six month stop gap. I hope he gets a final fling, but the pace and power of Bartley & Bougherra looks far more safe to me.
  11. What can you say? Let's be honest here, he is one of the least popular footballers of all time and we would NEVER have chosen him as a Rangers player. However, he has signed and that makes a difference. Pathetic rags, only fit as bog roll like the Sun will make a lot of money out of the spitting on a Celtic fan story. He might be a twat, but he is now our twat, so piss off to the sun et al I just hope that he plays well and DOES become a legend!
  12. Kyle Lafferty is developing into a very good striker. He is big, strong and quick. He has passion in spades and I think he will become one of our better players. I remember the same being said about Mark Hately when he came to Ibrox. He has made some stupid mistakes, but who hasn't as a young man? Most of us, if we had his money at his age, we would be seriously ill or dead by now!!! As a Rangers fan, I support the team and whoever is selected by the manager. If Lafferty is picked, I will support him. Let's be honest here, Mr Smith knows more about Kyle Lafferty (and about football) than we all do, so let's back his judgement.
  13. My comment straight after his debut was that he reminded me of a Young Jim Baxter, he has the calm elegance, strolling about the pitch and playing long accurate passes. Jim Baxter was once selected for the World XI, to play in Stanley Matthews' testemonial match, where the press called him "The Surgeon's Knife". Jamie Ness reminds me of him, but no-one should think he is that good. With time and luck though, you never know.
  14. For me, Jamie Ness looked like a young Jim Baxter - I dont mean in terms of ability or impact, I mean the elegance, the calmness under pressure and the ability to see a pass. A reasonable debut, a poor result.
  15. Sadly, I have also heard booing of Rangers players at Ibrox.
