Yes, Fergie sacrificed long term development for short term success. Very much the opposite of Wenger in that sense. He was a winner no doubt about it but I'm not buying the BS he came with in terms of leaving the club in the best possible state.
Their best players are coming towards the end of their career and the youngsters coming through are simply not good enough.
Also when he did spend big in the transfer market, it was increasingly unsuccessful towards the end of his tenure. £20m on Hargreaves, £17m on Young, £25m on Anderson, £30m on Berbatov...probably other examples.
Can't argue with Fergie's success but like you say, he left at the right time.

Spurs squad is only theoretically better than Arsenal's based on the reputation of their signings - the majority of which are totally unproven.
You also have to remember that the existing foundation of Spurs' squad is not actually that strong in terms of quality - they were carried by the likes Bale, Modric and VDV for years.
Spurs have increased in depth but lost out in quality IMO.
I would be very shocked if they came above Arsenal - their golden chance to do so has been in the last 2 seasons and they threw it away big time.
Arsenal look much stronger this year, personally I would expect them to widen the gap between them and Spurs if anything.

Some of you wankers in here need a reality check . Barca deserved what they got tonight , this game and the two before it showed that when the 300 passes are not working you have to change it , and for me Pep can't or is unable to change things .
The amount of times any of the Barca players have a shooting chance at the edge of the box during a game is unbelievable , and they choose to continue the passing . Thats fine when you are scoring , but pointless when you can't break a team down .
Chelsea are fuckin garbage and those two games showed how bad English football is , but if thats how some on here like watching their football , fair enough .
Barca will be back stronger next season and as for the Messi is done pish ......get a life , the boys only 24 and not reached his peek yet .

disagree, i think when a team like barca spend so much time going sideways and backwards it ruins it for the neutral.
sure you could argue that chelsea could have pushed the back line up higher, but look where that got AVB. When they came up against a fast passing side like Arsenal they conceeded 5 goals.
Barceloan don't play as cautiously as that against lesser La Liga teams, sometime barca just seem terrified of losing possession, so much so they would rather play a safe, 5 yard pass sideways or backwards, then try a riskier through ball in the final 3rd.

this scottish team is made up of shagger and naisy in the first team with whittaker and wallace on the bench. and when you consider that charlie, hutton, and millar are former gers, its not an exaggeration to say that rangers fc are responsible for the nucleus of this team.
