  1. In any workplace the attitude of leadership permeates through the whole team. If the leadership are cautious and risk adverse then people being pack animals tend to follow that line. Equally if the leadership are poor motivators and poor at inspiring confidence then you typically see that in team outcomes.
  2. Another good example. He didn't need an armband to be a leader. John Brown was another one.
  3. Yes for the people I've called out but there have been many captains who weren't close to being the best player. Two that spring to mind are Brown and Aitken for the scum. We hated them but I'm sure we would have welcomed a player of their mindset in our team
  4. You may be right and it would be mad to change captains at this stage of the season unless you really had to. But just maybe there is a new cadre of dressing room leaders emerging; guys like Sterling, Butland and Souttar who again if you divorce the player from the leader may well help drive a different mindset. It all could obviously all change depending on who comes in and goes out in the summer.
  5. The very best captains are not necessarily the best players, they're not necessarily someone who shouts and moans on the pitch. But every single one of them are mentally strong. Greig, Gough, Ferguson, Weir, Butcher etc, all very different men and players but they were mentally strong and focused on winning above all else. Tav and Goldson whatever you think of them as players are simply not cut from the same cloth.
  6. Potatoes potatos tbh it doesn't matter for this season. If the fenians fuck up and/or we can pull a rabbit out of the hat by winning at the paedodome and we win the title then no-one will care. Even if we do somehow win the league we still need a major restructure imho.
  7. Three at the back if Ridvan is out. Sterling in Central midfield. Sima on the left not right and Silva in the middle before Dessers or Roofe. For a start.
  8. Yes I agree to a point but pre injury Sima looked pretty good on the left. Since he's come back we have played him exclusively on the right where he's done very little. That simply does not make sense.
  9. There's no energy in the middle. Play Sterling there. Try a back three to include Balogun who has been our best CB at times this season but now can't get a shout. Rather than have Sima and Silva wide right and left respectively. Put Sima wide left where he was very effective pre injury and Silva in the middle. With either McCausland or Wright on the right. None of the above is perfect far from it but it's miles better than what we just witnessed.
  10. Because we were overrun in midfield. This and the last game is on the manager. If playing a wide game isn't working for whatever reason we need to win the middle of the park.
  11. Play him in midfield. Not wide right. Give Sterling the RB slot as his to lose.
  12. Yes but the manager has to cut his cloth accordingly. If they players are too shit to effectively play his preferred system he needs to adapt.
  13. We could of singned Shankland. We could have even signed van der veen or any other half decent natural finisher but we didn't. Roofe is done. Dessers for all his good movement can't actually score. It was a massive mistake in January not to bring in a proper striker even a decent journeyman.
  14. The system needs players who can play in that style. Having Silva and Sima neither of whom are natural wide players play in that system is fucking madness. At the very least put Sima on the left where he was so effective for us before he got injured.
  15. It's also quite clear that Clement's 4-2-3-1 doesn't work if our wide players are not effective in pulling the defence out to defend in a wide line and we get overwhelmed in the middle of the park.
  16. Dropping 5 out of 6 points to diddy teams in back to back games in a championship run-in is beyond any excuse or justification. Luke McGowan who Dundee signed from Ayr absolutely bossed the midfield tonight. He will be lucky to be on a tenth of Lundstram's salary. We need a clear out.
  17. There have been some games under Clement where Lundstram has been superb, 9/10 performances. Today as with some other games he's been 6/10 at best. As much as a like him as a player when he's at his best, I don't think he's worth £25k pw or whatever inflated salary he's on if he can't bring that level every week.
  18. Balogun is the best CB we have. The fact that the man is 35 shows how poor our options are. Three years ago Connor Goldson was superb. He was suspect before then and he's been suspect since. Souttar is a Hearts or Dundee United CB. No better than that and certainly not Rangers standard in any role other than a back up. Tav is not a RB, I dont care if he's spent the majority of his career there, a RB who can't defend is not a RB. There still could be a place for him elsewhere in the formation but the RB slot should be Sterling's from this point onwards. Barasic is a joke. Considering his old man is repudiated to be one of the most feared gangland godfathers in Croatia he's an utter shitbag of a player. Ridvan is orders of magnitude better but we need a backup.
  19. He's a piece of human filth who must be nervous about coming back to Scotland on the basis of what might be done to him.
  20. There's been talk for a while about Tav being moved forward on the right to accommodate a new RB, I think we tried it with Patterson once or twice. But given Tav doesn't quite have the engine he did say three years ago could there be a place for him in central midfield and give Sterling a chance to establish himself in his favoured position at RB? Tav playing alongside Lundstram with Diomonde/Cantwell in front of them would be my call.
