It’s all about confidence. I don’t know what the players would have taken from our friendlies. The Olympiacos result at Ibrox in particular will have put real doubt in to their minds I think, and Hoffenheim finished 16th or something in the Bundesliga and we really struggled there too. Now add to that today’s performance and the high pressure of a European tie on Wednesday and it’s hard to see where the confidence comes from any time soon.

You go right through those players in the dressing room for that. Right through every single one from new to old because that performance was fucking embarrassing. Embarrassing. The pressure on Beale and the players just went through the roof and it’s only 5th August. Nothing has changed and I think many of us saw this coming. Our pre-season was abysmal and it was obvious that would carry in to the domestic campaign.
