  1. Ferguson has to bow to the wishes of the editor when writing for the Record otherwise it doesn't get printed and he doesn't get paid.
  2. You're right we stagnated under Gio whether the board couldn't or wouldn't release the money needed to buy those special players we needed to go up a level. I also think a lot of people including lots on here who underestimated and poo pooed the appointment of big Ange because he wasn't known outside of Australia and Japan and wrongly assumed he would not be up to the challenge. He targeted players he knew could play in the SPFL and either our scouts couldn't pick their noses or the board or Gio rejected any suggestions. Either way we have been left in their wake in the early part of the season and we have to beat them in the two league games left and the cup final to put real pressure on them going down to the end of the season.
  3. RIP Billy and condolences to the family.
  4. McGregor may be past his best and we need a new No 1 but good ones don't come cheap. McLaughlin is not a bad keeper and McCrorie would be ok as backup. We need money spent in the midfield and strike options before a new keeper.
  5. Happy New Year to all the Bears wherever you are. May all your troubles be wee.
  6. RIP Robbie. Condolences to his family and friends.
  7. A huge part of my life since I was 10 yrs old. I am now 75. All my school pals were Bluenoses and we were all names when we played in the park. Moving to OZ when I was 15 with family made it more difficult to support as media here did not carry too many stories about scottish football. Now we have the internet and sites like this one it makes it much easier. Rangers til I die.
  8. I don't think there will be too many signings in January. MB will want some actual playing time to sort out his squad, who's in and who will be allowed to look elsewhere. The summer we may be looking for a new GK, CM and possibly right sided mid.
  9. Welcome back Michael I hope you can instill some pride, desire and fitness into this squad because it seems to me all three are missing.
  10. Agreed, but we don't play with speed. McGregor passes the ball out to Tav or Barasic who take it for a little run then it gets passed back and as you say the opposition has all shuffled back into the 18 yard area and we have to reset. We are missing a creative midfielder and I think Hagi is that type of player that sees a opening and can put the ball in that space. I think Lawrence and Tillman have that ability as well.
  11. There are some doomsday merchants on here. Hagi may not be the fastest player but speed is not everything especially against the majority teams in the SPFL with nine man defences. The ability to see a pass and deliver it is a far more important skill.
  12. We have eight first team players out with long term injuries at the moment and I don't care who is in charge this has got to affect the performance and results of the team. Tav is out of form at the moment and it seems some of the new players are not up to standard yet. Even Alfie is not fit or performing neither is Kent. We are struggling to get any consistent performances because of these facts. Lets hope after the WC break we can get a few more back and refreshed.
  13. That would also be my question to the medical staff, why does it take so long to get players back on the pitch? Having played the game at an amateur level and having had hamstring tears and torn knee ligaments which took eight weeks to heal. But with the improvements in sports medicine and training and conditioning compared to fifty years ago, it worries me it is taking so long for players like Hagi etc to be back on the field.
  14. We've been in decline for the last two seasons. Gerrard left for two reasons first the board would not spend the money needed to revamp the squad. Second because the money Villa offered was streets ahead of ours. Meanwhile our board are skiddling around in the bargain basement for new players so Gerrard told them to stick it. Then they roll out Gio a hero as a player and a pretty good record as a manager in Holland, the messiah. He was going to perform miracles, loaves and fish type of miracles. No need to spend money on good players instead bring in players nobody has heard of Gio will wave his magic wand and they will be great and he did a reasonable job in the Europa cup, made money, got us into the Champions League, more money going great guns, no need to spend our money. Everyone is out to hang Gio and his tactics are bewildering at times but you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear ( old saying ). The real culprits are those sitting in the boardroom soaking up the kudos for being on the board of the Glasgow Rangers ( look at me ). They are the ones who employed Ross Wilson and his team to find new talent on the cheap. In the mean time we sell some of our brightest young talent for big money and keep the dross, the ones that should have been moved on two years ago. The board and Wilson are the main problem here but Gio is the one that will shoulder the blame.
  15. RIP Jimmy one of my heroes as a boy.
  16. The board are the main problem I see at the moment their reluctance to spend money on players of quality. Maybe the the advice they're getting from Wilson and his team is the problem, I don't know, but it seems we are buying players that are not fit for purpose. Gio has all sorts of cover stories as to why these players are not ready yet Souttar has hardly kicked a ball for us, Yilmaz is taking time to get acclimatised , Helander, Hagi, Ofoborth, Roofe all long term injuries. Now we have Goldson, Jack and Lawrence on the long term injury list, I know injuries are part and parcel of football and some take longer to heal but we are supposed to have the best most up to date equipment and technology to treat these injuries so why does it take so long to get them back on the field? Or are we not investigating players properly before we buy them or is that just the market we are dealing in, players other more affluent clubs want to unload because they are injury prone. Because the modern day player is treated and protected so well in this day and age and receive the best medical treatment yet the injuries seem to take so much longer to heal than they used to.
  17. What a player he was, a standout in a very good team. Just to have a couple of players of that ability in todays team.
  18. Thought McGregor, Davies and Goldson were the only ones to show any fight. Nearly all the team lacked any confidence and couldn't get rid of the ball fast enough didn't matter where or to who. We were too slow in our thought and execution of passes, continually caught in possession. Those on here who want McGregor gone should be thanking him without his saves could have been 6-0. Need to smarten up for the return at Ibrox.
  19. Sorry to hear that. Wish him all the best for the future whichever path he chooses.
  20. Why do we buy players that are not fit for purpose...... Soutar, Davies, Yilmaz all defenders yet none are first team starters for whichever reason. Yet we sell players like Bassey, Katic, Balogun. If you are going to sell players at least make sure their replacements are as good if not better. But primarily they are fit to step right into the first team not have to spend half the season getting up to speed or learning to fit our style of play FFS.
  21. Sincere condolences to Ally and his family.
