I think that's our only difference here: trust. I can't say that I fully trust everyone to toe the line. I will be happy, delighted, to be proved wrong though. Yes, we are were we are as a result of complete capitulation. No argument there. And it was wrong to accept it so meekly.

Well, here we agree - as longs as we keep it clean. And therein lies the nub of it. I also agree that singing about 'fenians' should not be a problem, but we are were we are. Don't get me wrong, I would dearly love to see the song back with agreed lyrics, but can we trust everyone to adhere to it? All we need is a sizeable minority to ruin it all over again. I also agree that we shouldn't have rolled over as meekly as we did, but again, we are where we are.

Believe what you like, it makes no odds to me. I'm telling you that the offending words were sung around me ...... row BBB seat 46 to be precise ...... that's the facts of the matter. The point is that, no matter how much we would like to see this song back, and I would, that it is fraught with danger for our Club. People will always sing the proscribed lyrics no matter how much we try and reach a consensus on alternative ones.

I can only say how it was round where I was, and that's how it was. I'd think Honest Tom would have understood that.

I didn't sing it on Saturday, but I enjoyed hearing it in a naughty schoolboy sort of a way! We'll never be able to agree on suitable lyrics IMO. It's just too habitual singing 'fenian blood'.
