It’s a bit of a cliche, but I would be more worried if we weren’t making any chances. We had enough today to easily win the game. Also, why is the manager messing about with the defence? Jack Simpson isn’t good enough in my opinion and I don’t see him getting any better. I don’t think we will go much longer before we hit some decent form and when we do we should have far too much for the rest of the league.

Seen people tonight describing Lyon as an average side. I don’t think they got out of second gear and in my opinion would win our league by a fair margin. They’re better than average and it’s no disgrace to be beaten by them. That said, we are not at the levels we were last season when I think we’d have given them a better game. I’m not too despondent though, I think we’ll get out of the group as our battles will be with the other 2 teams. We’ll hit decent form at some point in the league and I think we’ll have enough to win it. It won’t be the skoosh it was last season though.

The biggest single episode of racism in Scottish sport, took place on Jan 2nd 1988. It was at the home of the bastions of morality and FairPlay, celtic Fc. There has never been anything close to matching it yet it is rarely mentioned when this topic is discussed. Prior to that in the 70s , racism was rife on popular TV programms etc. I don’t mention the Mark Walters incident purely to score points or engage in Whataboutery, it just to highlight how common it was back in the day. Nowadays this type of incident would never be allowed, which shows how differently racism is treated today. Therefore old Shug was talking shite. As a man who’s now in his 70s I would say that the behaviour of fans back in the day was much worse than it is now, but on the other hand I think the hatred between the supporters is much worse. I am totally against all forms of discrimination including racism, but I also feel that Rangers are seen as an easy target too often. Until all the clubs accept ownership and responsibility for the actions of their fans. I don’t think it will improve any time soon.

Just my opinion my friend. I wasn’t actually counting the keeper in my assessment so I’ll agree with you there. I thought Joe Aribo was blowing out of his arse after half an hour. For me Davis was the most industrious player we had , which is fucking ridiculous given his age. He didn’t have a great game but I thought he was the best outfielder we had. Again, as I say, just my opinion.

We got what we deserved, fuck all. Very poor performance with only Davis getting pass marks from me. Not panicking just yet but we need to fucking waken up quickly.

I only saw the game on Rangers TV but have to say that they really added to the atmosphere. They put so called top 6 Scottish clubs to shame. Having said that, they still went home fucking sick though.

I have a certain amount of sympathy with these youngsters as when I was their age I was fucking nuts and sang a lot worse than what’s doing the rounds at the moment. However, times have changed and we really have to box a lot cuter now. They have been hung out to dry a bit by the board and appear to be the fall guys for the “naughty singing”. Hopefully they will suck it up and get on with it. I appreciate that they’re not everybody’s cup of tea, but they do make a better atmosphere these days than I think it would be without them. I can’t get to games now unfortunately but I’m pretty sure that if I was following the team now I would be a lot more careful with my choice of songs. We are very lucky that we have loads of great songs we can sing that no one can take offence to. I’m including loyalist songs in this (without the add ons) as we’re as entitled as anyone else to celebrate our culture. I appreciate that there are supporters who don’t want to sing these songs but that’s ok too. This is a very serious situation that we have to deal with at the moment and every other fucker outside the Rangers family is just waiting to pounce. So sing loud and proud guys and gals but please don’t give them any more ammo.

If you have a discussion with any tarrier then they will point blank refuse to accept that they are sectarian in any shape or form. They will openly tell you that calling someone an Orange bastard is perfectly acceptable as it’s not racist. They will refuse to accept that most Protestants are not in the OO, and will tell you that the word fenian is ok as long as it’s not followed by bastard. I would be annoyed if players weren’t giving him daggers. Every one of them should be busting a gut to play. If they’re not then they shouldn’t be at Rangers. I think Gerrard knows and understands this, and is poking them with a stick to get the proper result. He’s been around changing rooms for a long time and knows how it works.
