  1. Yes, serious. There's no need for any of these players to take a cut in wages. Each one of them, and every member of staff has had tax taken off them since May, it's not them who are in the wrong and have withheld it from HMRC. It's not the players who asked to be paid through EBT's over a number of years in a tax avoidance scheme (whether legal or not). Football can be a very short career, one bad injury and your source of revenue can be gone before you know it and your world is turned upside down (ask John Kennedy). So for him to take a drop of around £8k a week is fantastic, every little helps. Over 12 weeks it's close to £100k (or 1/3 of a Bedoya).
  2. Aye because we make ourselves an easy target. The club and the fans have worked hard to try and cut out the outdated chants, yet the day the eyes of the world are on us we scrap all the hard work and just add more embarrassment. Yeah Celtic supporters sing songs they shouldn't, but I couldn't give a flying fuck what there fans do. It only embarrasses their club. We sort ourselves out, they have nowhere to hide and the justice so many seem to want when they bring out the "oh but they sing pro IRA songs defence" will be done.
  3. The boys on loan at Partick have been saying that all the players have taken a wage cut in the hope that it saves some jobs throughout the club. McGregors went from around £25k a week to £17k, if this is all true it's a fantastic gesture.
  4. His passion and Edu's heart/effort today were really pleasing. We could do with more of this American spirit throughout the team for the remainder of the season. Let's hope that if players are released, that these 2 aren't on the list!
  5. That doesn't really matter though when put in context. Against Dunfermline Killie will be expected to be more open, whilst when they come up against us Shiels will have it drilled into them to be more disciplined. I've always found myself admiring their set up this season. Yes in the second half when we pressed them they made mistakes, but that's as much to do with the players, but the way they set up the 5 in the midfield: with a sitting midfielder to start up their play, and assist the back four when defending; 3 across the midfield with 2 of them offering width when attacking, while also supporting the full backs and tucking in to offer triangles and win the battle in the middle of the park; and then the attacking midfielder playing just off the striker and running along the whole opposition back 4 (which Shiels did perfectly today, especially for his goal). A very effective tactic as it allows for 3 passages of play in the midfield, whilst most other teams set up with only 1 or at a push 2 lines. Although it's not possible due to fitness and loans, if we set up in this fashion with Ness - Davis/Edu/Naismith - Fleck or Aluko it would be a joy to watch... though anything would be more suitable than Papac playing left mid and centre mid.
  6. Fuck! Ed Milliband talking about Welsh politics and devolution is on the breaking news bit too. Absolute disgrace, there's devolution in 2 other countries within the UK. When will this biased BBC agenda stop?
  7. The big thing is HMRC haven't won the tax case yet. Until the decision is made public they can't make a move and it would be unrealistic to make a deal on the issue.
  8. The spelling of "saddist" in the title was the saddest sight I had seen, until I noticed the celtic fan lurking. Teams top of the league and the best thing this guy has to do is go on the site of his teams rivals
  9. They never went to the wall or into administration, and changed their name when they went from being a privately owned company to a plc. Who gives a fuck though, only thing that matters is a good atmosphere at the game tomorrow, 3 points, and us emerging from administration in a stronger position! Fuck them and what they do/have done.
  10. Now only main stand restricted view tickets left. Great response!
  11. The basics of this model is that Ticketus purchase a number of season tickets for a number of seasons, it's usually for a couple of seasons but there's reports suggesting we've sold more. They buy them at a slightly reduced value, and then when the season tickets are sold at face value in the future they collect all of the money from the sale. So it's not as if they can call on us to give them back the money they gave us, because what they get in exchange is the set number of season tickets which they already have.
  12. Yip still tickets left! Heading for a sellout so if you know someone that doesn't have a ticket yet tell them to move their arse!
  13. Going by the online ticketing, looks like there's less than 500 tickets left for tomorrow now. Only 8 left in the Broomloan, and the majority that are left in the main stand are restricted view.
  14. Would any debt owed to them not transfer to their parent company Octopus Investments, so I would imagine them going bust wouldn't have a great effect. Though only speculation that this would be the case.
  15. Steve McManaman - "Valencia will find the game tonight harder than when they go to the Nou Camp on Saturday".
  16. Putting money in now is not an option. Until the tax case is settled and there is a CVA being worked towards then there is far too much uncertainty. The wealthy Rangers supporters in business got that way by not throwing money at bad investments, at the moment we are a bad investment. Once the tax issue begins to clear up and we become available at a lower price than we are worth, then it'll be time for serious bidders to come forward.
  17. Going by some of the threads in the BD this week alone - "No one likes us, we don't care"
  18. I don't think they really need to try hard to discredit Whyte further. He does most of that himself.
  19. Boyd scored plenty of goals for us at the level we are at. He's never been a top class player, but was always good enough at the SPL level.
  20. I've had Cole being described as being dodgy from one of the boys at Thistle, he also said Naismith is a tidy player but that he thinks a bit much of himself.
  21. To be fair to Brown, and I don't rate him that highly, he scored a really good goal tonight - particularly the build up. Benefited again from that rule that current and former Hearts players will not be given a goal if the ball is still within arms length of Forster when over the line.
  22. I think he does know what he's trying to do, he's trying to get the best out of what he has. Now I don't agree with his footballing philosophy and at times his team selections but with the injury list and the financial constraints it's a bit too simplistic to say he doesn't know what he's trying to do. He might be out of his depth, needs a full season at least before we can begin to theorise on that, but he knows what he's trying to do. Our passing and fitness levels haven't been great for years either, but again it's something that's only picked up upon when things are going badly. Again this feeds into the footballing philosophy of the club and whether we want to play a high intensity pressing game that requires an increased level of fitness. Unfortunately although I would like to see this I don't think it would be that easy to implement during the course of the season as it would require a lot of practice time which we don't have when we need to focus on the here and now of winning games. As for shoe-horning players into positions that they are not natural in, his other alternative is to blood kids who are clearly not ready for first team action into the team and have the fans on their back. Ibrox is a dreadful place these days for the fans just hurling insults and abuse at players and we've seen in the past with the likes of Ross and Malcolm, who could have been useful players, how this affects their careers and the likes of Burke and Adam, who have only really flourished when moving away from us. There's enough negatives around the club at the moment, for the next few months the best we can do is get behind Ally (whether we feel his tactics are right or wrong) and the team and try and re-ignite Ibrox to cancel out the shadow of the off the field stuff that is clearly beginning to take a toll on the players.
  23. He's looking quite good according to one of the boys at Partick who was just playing in the 5s game I'm in there. He also said that Cole looks a bit dodgy though.
  24. We should get in contact with MK Dons and offer them McCulloch for less if that's what they're after. Then we can save a chunk of wages and Ally might be able to bring players in that'll be useful.
  25. Is it already the time of the season that the kit maker discussion is returning
