  1. If you know anyone visiting this weekend please let them know they are welcome to join the BABs. If they cannot make it to the pub, the game is on CBS Sports Network which their hotel may have.
  2. Reminder that we are at Smithfield tomorrow. Also, it’s looking good for a return to The Spotted Dog for the game on Wednesday.
  3. We had a last-minute switch of venues for the Dundee Utd game last weekend, and it's the same story this weekend. A few folk turned up at our usual pub last Sunday (to locked doors) so hoping to get the word out as early as possible this time. If you happen to know friends or family who are over here, please do them (and us) a favour and make sure they know.
  4. Yup. We watched some of the earlier rounds (e.g. Dortmund) side-by-side with them. Later in the tournament, we moved to Long Acre (sister pub of Smithfield) because Smithfield wasn't big enough for both. Glad to be heading back for the final.
  5. Since we have bounced around a few different venues recently, there may be some confusion about where to watch the game. If you know anyone visiting NYC this week, please let them know we are watching the game at Smithfield Hall on 25th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). We have some good memories of Smithfield, including both legs against Dortmund.
  6. Yeah, closed down just after the New Year. New owners are taking over the space and are gonna renovate it. So we have plans for a new location - a new place being opened by the same owner as American Bar (and the Blue Room before that). It’s not quite ready - hopefully in a week or so. It’s still the Upper East Side. 1st Ave and 64th.
  7. If you know anyone visiting NYC, please let them know the old bar closed down and we have a temporary location for the game today.
  8. Haha. The description from K.A.I. sort of rings a bell. There are a few locals who seem to often be at the pool table (or hanging out at that end of the bar) after a midweek game. "Clint" may not be a big guy, but he sounds crazy enough that you would not want to take a chance :-).
  9. St Andrews closed last year. Glad you clarified. Would hate to think you had a bad time watching the games. Sounds like you went in the afternoon/evening when there was no game on. We don't drink there outside the games, normally. Sorry the regulars who were there did not make you feel welcome. Will take you about 15 mins or less in a taxi or uber - no traffic at that time in the morning. The game won't we on TV but if you don't make it to the bar, you will be able to buy it on Rangers TV - it should work fine on your phone if thats all you have. Legends is a great football bar in NYC - downstairs is a somewhat separate operation from the upstairs bar, and goes by the name The Football Factory. Some of us were in there last week for the Scotland game. You can watch just about any game of football in there - except for Rangers or celtic games usually. Jack, the guy who runs The Football Factory, is a top guy and sorted us out on Helicopter Sunday when we were unable to watch the game in the Blue Room (our bar at the time - the new bar has some of the same owners). The satellite dish we had in the Blue Room was good only for the celtic game - the station Setanta showed the Rangers v Hibs game on was only available via a different dish. Jack put the game on for us in the bar he was running at that time (Nevada Smiths). When people go in and ask about Rangers games, he gives them our details.
  10. Sun are now going with Kenny Black as #2: https://twitter.com/scotsunsport
  11. Haha. To be fair, the bar was never intended to be jammed full of Bears on the bevvy, all wanting a pee at half time.
  12. We are. It's called The American Bar. The same owners as the Blue Room. It's about a mile further uptown, on 1st Avenue and 77th Street.
  13. For over ten years, the Big Apple Bears RSC has been watching games at the Blue Room in New York. Unfortunately, the bar owners have lost their lease and will be closing next week. This Saturday, we will have a party to celebrate all the good times (and try to forget the bad) over the past ten years. If you are in the city, please join us. If you can't make it, we hope to see you at our new home, the American Bar, someday in the future. Full details are on our website or facebook pages: www.bigapplebears.com www.facebook.com/BigAppleBears
  14. Sorry if i am spoiling your fun. But on the off chance that you are serious, and not just winding me up CIC = Community Interest Company. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_interest_company
  15. rea is Richard Atkinson. He is working on the CIC and is from Supporters Direct Scotland. http://www.supporters-direct.org/homepage/aboutsupportersdirect/governan/councils/scotland
  16. I don't know much about Administration, but in the scenario I posed, we were out of Administration with a CVA before the FTT was decided. Is that not possible? Or if it is possible, why would their bill go to the Administrator? And again, what is the advantage to going into Admin before the FTT concludes?
  17. Could you expand on this? So, we go into Admin, 10pt deduction, we come out of Admin soon after with a CVA, and after that the FTT decides against us. Why would Rangers not owe HMRC? Or, alternatively, we go into Admin, 10pt deduction, before getting the CVA, the FTT decides against us. Would there have been any advantage to going into admin prior to the FTT decision?
  18. That wasn't really the question. Why (according to the Record and some other posters) there is an advantage to going into admin before the HMRC bill arrives. Why does that timeline offer us more protection. Are HMRC not allowed to present a company in admin with a bill? Are they not allowed to go after the company's successor?
  19. Not sure if that was a joke I didn't get, but regarding revenue streams, we don't have to get all the way to the summer on the cash we have in the bank. Do we give away access to hospitality for free? Are we banned from taking part in the Scottish Cup? Has the JJB money already come in? Are we not allowed to sell players come January? Has the money from commercial activities already been received for the season?
  20. Was wondering that myself. A trawl of MacGillivan's twitter gave me the answer (but now I feel like I need a good wash). He was talking about the Sherrif Officer (SO) story, when they visited Ibrox a while back.
  21. Can someone explain how going into Admin before the Tax Case is decided leaves HMRC high and dry should they win? What prevents them going after the company or their successors once the Admin process is initiated?
