There comes a point when you have to disengage and say we're not prepared to be a part of this. The board have to tell the SFA they will no longer take part in any disciplinary matters, let the SFA do as they want and then go to court and let the law of the land decide. We cannot expect justice when those responsible for drawing up charges, deciding guilt and handing out sentences have previously tried to destroy us. If we keep going along with this we'll keep getting shafted.

The buxom Victoria Coren, "Welcome to Only Connect which is like an old firm game without the hatred, sectarianism and football. And instead of being played at Ibrox, we're in a Welsh studio." Found it amusing.

English Football League to consider Celtic and Rangers
WishartsAshes replied to Ace's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
It should be the ambition of every sportsman and club to compete at the highest level so if there is a chance to step up we should take it, even if that means taking a few steps back first. If people think we would struggle to get out of The Championship they must be terrified of qualifying for any European competition. If this happened investment would be guaranteed. The prospect of a share in the wealth of the EPL and The Championship on the way and the subsequent increase in the value of the club would make investment inevitable. Our brand would also increase in value as part of a bigger league and reaching more people. Or we could just stay in an ever decreasing same old same old Scottish system where the best we can hope for is occasional qualification for the Champions League group stage for which we are competitively and financially unprepared. As I've already said, I can't see it happening but there's no doubt if the chance arises we should jump at it. -
English Football League to consider Celtic and Rangers

First of all, I don't see this happening but this is exactly what we need. I hope that when the clubs are deciding they look at what happened in the lower divisions while we were there. 1. All the clubs benefitted from us being in their league. That is, nobody lost out because of our presence. 2. We added value to the competitions we played in with increased media coverage, larger crowds etc. 3. We progressed up through the leagues reasonably well. 4. The leagues we weren't playing in suffered, as did the teams in those leagues. In short, if the English clubs ask their Scottish counterparts they'll be told that we bring more than we take away and that leagues and teams go downhill in our absence. I don't see it happening but our experience over the last few years shows that it would be a win win situation for everybody involved. -
Sectarianism Usual story: all about Rangers and anti-Catholicism with a wee bit tagged on at the end to say it's not only Rangers.
-
Now there was no sectarianism in Scotland before the 20th century. You couldn't make it up but the BBC could.

BBC scumbags rewriting history. A quick rundown of everybody who's in Scottish football just make money before announcing Fergus McCann, a lifelong Septic fan, came into Scottish football to save Septic for the fans. Ridiculous.

Urgent Food Bank Appeal - Motherwell game
WishartsAshes replied to 50ShadesofBlue's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Is this what is known as a car crash of a thread? Here's my opinion. 1. Food banks are a disgrace. They are used in place of a proper benefits system that should be there to meet people's needs rather than throw money at whoever is the cause of the month while leaving others destitute and hungry. It's bad enough that we have food banks in 21st Century Britain but it's an out and out disgrace that the benefits system furnishes some with a reasonable lifestyle while handing out food bank vouchers to others. However, I'm not sure that's a good argument for not supporting them if they are genuinely meeting people's needs in a crisis. 2. Anybody that thinks that we should not renew Trident because of the cost is an arsehole. If Trident maintains our freedom then it is worth every penny. Arguing that it costs too much means that you are only prepared to spend so much to defend our freedoms and anything above that, well, we'll just have to accept defeat and subjugation. Only an arsehole would hold such an opinion. 3. Anybody who thinks we shouldn't renew it because we will never use it is an arsehole. No explanation needed here. Arseholes who argue this are basically just denying the effectiveness of deterrents. 4. People who object to Trident as a matter of principle have to accept that there are consequences to their actions. They may believe that pacifism is the best way for humanity but they must accept that if they refuse to defend themselves when attacked they are going to suffer. Pacifism is not a magic spell that pacifies your enemies. They may think it is morally wrong to threaten billions of people with mass murder but that moral position does not have any impact on those who wish to threaten them. So let's renew Trident and do whatever we can in whatever way we wish to help others. -

That's the way I saw it. I like what I'm seeing. I like to see players going forward, forcing the other guy back, forcing him to make decisions, maybe make mistakes and, to be fair, I even like it when the other guy does well. Going forward, that's great, but there's an immense amount of work to to be done about what we do when we don't have the ball.

Not read the full report but what I have seen is basically disgusting. The first thing in the report, a list of historic pitch invasions: Rangers v Motherwell, Rangers v Celtic, and Rangers v Celtic. Maybe I'm just being paranoid they they're suggesting that Rangers is the common factor here. In the paragraphs dealing with the Rangers v Motherwell invasion, the report says that only one set of fans was involved. It does not identify which set of fans. That's equivalent to identifying two people as being involved in a serious assault without making it clear who was the victim and who was the guilty party.

The rhabid bigot is so blinded by hatred that even though he knows the business dealings don't mean that the club has ceased to exist, he wants the club to have died so he is going to believe the club has died and can't cope with the reality that we're still the same club. That's a mental health issue. I don't say that as an insult. When someone can't accept reality they are delusional. When this becomes a psychological problem (anger, frustration, obsession) it becomes a mental health problem. The unfounded belief that you or somebody close to you is the victim of an injustice is classed as a persecutory delusion. Listening to him it's easy to think he's just another Tim having a go at Rangers but if you see by that you can hear him reaching out for help. He knows he's obsessing about this; he classes his behaviour as an "addiction"; he's tried to give it up but says people keep dragging him back in; he reads self help books to try and get a more positive outlook on life; he says he's more relaxed at work than at home with his family; he can't sleep; the list goes on. This man is unwell and needs help.
