  1. You're all very welcome lads, glad to help. :)

Should have actually mentioned this in the first post, but there's a site where you can get streaming video as well.

    www.myp2p.eu

Different software is required, depending on the links. I haven't tried it all, but I've had reasonable success with sopcast and tvu. I've managed to watch quite a few scottish games for nothing :D

I'd like to offer a suggestion for the best way to listen to the radio on the internet. I use a program called vlc (www.videolan.org). Nice little program, and it's fully crossplatform, so it's available for Windows, Linux and Mac.

What I do is, I save each radio station as a playlist, and then I just double click on the playlist and vlc opens the stream automatically. (You have to first open the stream in vlc of course before you can save it!! ;) )

If anyone can suggest somewhere where I can upload, I'm happy to upload what I have.

    Karl

  2. I think its easy at this time to overlook the predicament we are in. I say this because a lot of people seem underwhelmed with the notion of this Ellis guy taking control and its largely because he doesn't seem to fit the bill of a mega rich investor.

I understand those feelings but am also quick to remember the current situation we find ourselves in. We have considerable debt and an owner who has bailed on us and is not going to solve our financial problems let alone invest in the future.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that any investor that comes in and clears our debt alone puts us in a better position than we are now ?

We have the appropriate assurance filters in place in the form of an independent committee to assess his suitability and intentions to bring long term stability to the club and I'm happy to see what develops from that.

Lets give this guy the benefit of the doubt for the meantime and you never know this could be a new and exciting beginning for Rangers FC.

Very fair point. Ok, you've calmed me down a bit with that :), but if it all goes pear-shaped I'm sending the boys round to sort you out OK? :D

  3. I've just had a text from Bain himself saying that Ellis giving us £150million to spend on players

    :P

Don't believe anything that that Kev says. He tried to sell me some Celtic shares a couple of years ago, telling me that Celtic were just entering a generation of domination.

He forgot to tell me that it would be a generation of Rangers domination!! doh

    :D

  4. From the Evening Times website..

The formation of an independent directors’ group to ensure a takeover of Rangers is in the best long-term interests of the Ibrox club was today welcomed by a senior fans’ representative.

It was announced today that the independent directors, comprising chairman Alastair Johnston, chief executive Martin Bain, directors John McClelland and Donald McIntyre and club legend John Greig, will examine bids for the club.

A statement released by the Glasgow club revealed the new body would consider the “full implications” of any offer and try to ensure it is “able to demonstrate the capacity and commitment to provide a stable and sustainable future for RFC”.

The move comes after it was confirmed this morning that Murray International Holdings had entered into discussions with certain interested parties, including the London-based millionaire property developer Andrew Ellis.

And John Macmillan, general secretary of the Association of Rangers Supporters Clubs, is hopeful the development will ensure that Sir David Murray’s majority shareholding is sold to the right man for the club.

He stated: “This is hopefully the safeguard which we need to ensure that whoever takes control of Rangers has the best interests of the club at heart and is the right man to drive the club forward in the future.

“I am not sure where Sir David Murray sits in all of this. He is the majority shareholder and anything that happens in the future has to have his blessing. Hopefully, though, he will be advised by the independent directors.

“This body has been put in place to ensure that nothing untoward happens. Some things can look quite glossy on the outside, but when you really get into things then all is not so rosy. Hopefully, this move will ensure there are no nasty surprises.

“I think the fact that John Greig is involved in this will please many of the supporters. He is a guy who genuinely has the interests of the club at heart. Hopefully, we are heading in the right direction and something will happen soon.”

However, Rangers Supporters Trust chairman Stephen Smith wants to see the supporters given a more hands-on role in discussing the future of the Ibrox club and urged the independent directors to get them actively involved in the process.

And he also expressed his unease about the possibility of another wealthy benefactor taking over the running of Rangers – given the serious financial difficulties the debt-ridden Scottish champions are facing at the moment.

Smith said: “While I have no personal doubt that Alastair Johnston, John McClelland, Martin Bain and company believe they will be acting in the best interests of the club, that may not be compatible with the interests of the support.

“The interests of the support have to be taken on board. Alastair Johnston can’t just tell the rabble: ‘This is safe in our hands.’ They have to do far more than that. They have to look to get the support involved in this.

“The support want to be actively involved. We need fundamental change, to bring the support and the club together. And not just the Rangers Supporters Trust either. We want the Assembly and the Association involved as well.

“We are fairly close to the existing board and are involved in regular dialogue with Martin Bain. But we want to build on that.

“I don’t doubt that these guys are Rangers fans, we just want them to act like Rangers fans. I have no doubt that Donald Muir would say he is a Rangers fan too, but that doesn’t mean he is going to act in the best interests of the football club.”

He added: “I am quite happy to sit down and talk to anybody who is willing to invest in the club, but I don’t think we want to swap one rich owner for another rich owner. We have had one rich owner who has run us to the brink of administration.

“Unless they engage the support and examine a membership scheme and make changes in the way Rangers is run then we are going to end up in this position again. We have had a paternalistic model before and it didn’t work. We are in a situation where the club is working hand to mouth.

“I would say there are many many successful fans-run clubs out there. The fans of Barcelona, Hamburg and Bayern Munich, as well as many other clubs where the fans own 51 per cent or more of the football club, would say so. They have control of their clubs in the middles of a recession and face the problems we face.” Trust chairman Smith also voiced his scepticism about the timing of the Ellis takeover bid – which comes the week after Rangers took a huge step towards retaining the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title with a 1-0 win over nearest challengers Celtic.

He explained: “The Old Firm result basically secures that the club is going to qualify for the Champions League next season and bank between £10million and £12m. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that is why this bid has come in now. A business which has a turnover of £40m all of a sudden has a turnover of £52m.

“At a time when Rangers is having difficulties bringing in players, it is insane to think about selling Murray Park. We have to be more creative.”

  5. he may have other finacial backers on board, i want to know who this far east consortium is? are we talking japan, china, bin ladden??? i want to know now GOD DAMN IT.

I agree. Never mind all this 'due diligence' pish, meetings etc.

Get someone on here now to tell us exactly what's happening, then we can all get on with our work without having to spend the whole afternoon desperately scouring the internet for more information.

    That's only fair, isn't it? ;)

 its hard to work and read the threads isn't it, come on somebody knows more.

Exactly - but ANYONE who starts their post with something like 'I've just had a text from..' will be immediately ignored!!

(Actually, no they won't. I'll believe anything! )

  7. I dont hate Celtic because of there religion, i hate them because they are Glasgow Rangers Rivals. If Celtic had 11 protestants and we played with 11 Catholics i would still hate them the same.

    (tu) (tu)

Although hate is probably too strong a word. I do however THOROUGHLY enjoy watching them lose, and seeing how wound up they get on their forums talking about conspiracies, 'The Establishment' etc etc...

  8. Very well said indeed, but can I just add that, while sometimes understandable, hatred of anything is a destructive emotion. Don't waste your life hating someone or for doing something out of ignorance or lack of education. Hatred is like a cancer inside you, it can only do harm.

Peace and happiness to everyone - especially after such an amazing result yesterday!!

    :)

Oh dear me,we've got a live one here! :sherlock:

Well of course I'm a 'live one'.

Alive and VERY happy after that result. :P

  9. It's quite simple really. Celtic supporters say all the time that they're "The Greatest Supporters In The World", and that they could unilaterally leave Scotland and the EPL would welcome them with open arms.

    Oh really??

Just keep this picture, and the next time they are playing in England, or the subject of them joining the EPL comes up, show the English that photo.

I'm sure they'll be made *really* welcome down south when people realise what they are REALLY like.

Dont you think Karl that those who abused Simon Weston spend their lives hating anything British ? And I can assure you its not caused by a lack of education.

Oh absolutely. There is no question that the hatred coming from these people is as substantial as it is wrong. I was actually meaning (and I should have made this clear) that we should not respond to hatred with hatred of our own. If I let myself, I can feel my blood boil when I think of the sacrifices those brave men have made defending our country, but as I said hatred is a destructive emotion, and I think it's better not to succumb to it (no matter how great the provocation).

  12. Fellow Bears, don't get mad about it. Just have a quiet smile to yourself. The paranoiaometer is at the highest it's been for a long time.

Just think of all the paranoid tims, daily scouring the internet desperately looking to be offended about something.

They are TOTALLY rattled. We've NEVER been in such a weak position, and yet we're STILL 10 points (or 7 with a game in hand) ahead of them. Think about that for a moment. Let's be honest, we are utter SHITE at the moment, and yet we're still top of the league. :-)

Leave them to the irrational outbursts, and the calling of almost every referee in Scotland a cheat. (As well as the SPL, the SFA, the Scottish League, The Salvation Army, The Samaritans etc etc..)

Enjoy the view from the top...

    ;-)
