I know nothing about journalism, so might be totally wrong here...but...
For any journalist to know that Gerrard is interested, he himself would have to have told them (or told someone who told the journo). Given no official approach has been made, It just seems unfathomable to me that he's been telling people he wants the job. Even if it were true, I don't see what he would gain by speaking about it. Strikes me as more likely that there is a source, but one who's speculating based on what they think Gerrard wants to do.

No absolutely not. I think we're going to win the title fairly comfortably this season (not as easily as last) but ultimately, last season is over and done with and it's a whole new one.
Totally agree with you on Europe. It's been fantastic in recent years - and I think the entire package (Europe, league, cups) is the only accurate way to measure a manager or player's success and Gerrard's European results have been his most consistent success here.

Why are they completely ignoring the fact that we've won Old Firm games, easily the highest-pressure fixture in the country, in front of crowds at both Ibrox and the Piggery?

Mind-boggling to me that anyone would want him anywhere near our club.  Is it purely on the fact that he's managed in the EPL? Someone with his record in any other league would never be quoted.

We're estimated to have paid £300,00 -£600,000 for Pedro.  Big jump to the rumoured £2m for MPH.  I just think if we were willing to pay that we'd have done it when his agent was touting him for the job.  The fact that the board gave Murty the job until the season's end make me think they'll look for a cheap option.

I think we need to stop thinking of him as a 'number 10'. He's not that type of player.  He's essentially a second striker who takes a deeper starting position but he's not really a midfielder who'll get a hold of a game.  If we play him we have to accept we're essentially playing 442.

Miller shouldn't be starting games for us now but anybody who thinks he doesn't still have power in the dressing room and at the club is kidding themselves on.
I said before that it's like a budget remake of PLG vs Barry Ferguson and I wonder (and have said that I suspect) Alex McLeish will be the one playing the 'Walter Smith' role.
We've seen this movie before and although I don't think it will be this weekend this only ends one way, and that's with Caixinha out the door and us paying a costly price for an appointment that was always a mistake IMO.

Whether he is a ned or not is subjective and immaterial but a few things that are more relevant...........
 
- Played a big part in refusing to adapt to and the undermining of a Rangers manager, using the mhedia to help in that. Lost Captaincy+
- Off-field Irresponsibility with Scotland see him stripped of Captaincy and further appearences
- Disrespecting another Rangers manager see him lose Captaincy AGAIN and cold shouldered.
- As Clyde manager, is sent to stands after getting involved in abusive exchange with Clyde supporter whilst in charge of a team being horsed by Spartans in the Scottish Cup.
- His repeated highly irresponsible and sometimes deceptive behaviour shows that he doesn't learn lessons very well.
- With one of the highest budgets in the 4th tier, he fails to get Clyde promoted and leaves them in danger of losing league status.
- Works with the Daily Record and BBC Scotland and has his contacts for the day when he reverts to type and briefs against mgmt. team when results don't go well and will be hyped by the same people (Keith Jackson/ghostwriter) to fill any vacums that may arise in the future.
- On BBC Scotland a week or two ago, he actually said that he thought the foreign route was a mistake for Rangers and they should go for McInnes. Fine to have an opinion but not an opinion that marries well with him getting a job within the foreign route.
- Listening to him talk about football is like going back a decade or more. He doesn't seem to be an advocate of progressive methods. Again, a bad fit with new set-up.
 
In summary, Ferguson has a off the field history that screams 'NOT Suitable & Dangerous' and has a coaching/mgmt. history that doesn't suggest he has a lot to offer (failed at Clyde).
Quite how the board saw him as a candidate for this job is beyond me and IMO can only be via the Parks family influence.
