A memorial Service what a wonderful thing to do to remember all those faithful fans that were so tragically taken from their families on the 2nd January 1971. But to have this at Inbox l don’t think this is a good idea. They had it there before and to be honest it turned out not to about the people who died but about John Gregg and his statue. It was about Rangers and not the people who died. For this memorial service to mean what it’s meant to mean it has to be done properly somewhere away from Inbox. The Rangers Club and the fans can do something to remember that terrible day but on the 2nd January 2011 it’s about the 66 people who so tragically died no one else. One fan wrote on this page that it might be held at the Glasgow Cathedral but due to the wishes of Dr Whitely wanting the high clergy of the catholic church involved with the service it might not be held there, surely it’s not about religion but about remembering and everyone regardless of age, gender or religion coming together to remember and if we can’t come together as one then there is no point in any Memorial Service because then it’s not about the people who died but something else. My mum said no one should ever be allowed to forget the Inbox Disaster and that everyone should come together to remember and celebrate their lives.
