  1. Touching on some of what was discussed on pod.
  2. I'd agree with most of those 'bones'. I think it fairly clear that Whyte was moreso brought in to do the 'dirty business'. The whole thing (including post Whyte) has been an ongoing and fluid huge stitch-up with the club/fans the victims. - Follow the money,....... eg. Sir Duped today - Accountability,...........Who has been found to be accountable and punished ?
  3. Wrt to the podcast title,....the club advertised for a director of comms and marketing recently. Hopefully positive change will come from this. ---------------- Traynor and L5 aren't working, OUT.........'simples' ---------------- If some of the fans cry to make enemies of the media and tear down bridges then they can't expect to be able to 'control the narrative' with any real effect. ---------------- Team selection As availability stands: Our squad is very light in numbers/decent options
  4. Sounds as if it should be filed under 'fiction'.
  5. 1. Robertson isn't a CEO 2. IMO we need a hard-nosed and competent CEO implementing a 'joined-up' long term strategy, that we stick to and that encompasses the club as a whole. 3. Investing any money without a well considered strategy in place will see more waste. Good Strategy.. + ..Good personnel.. + ..Adequate investment = A chance to go forward. Remove any of the three and we'll fall short.
  6. Sir Duped was the main catalyst and is so obviously bullshitting with his side of the CW takeover 'jackanory'.
  7. BMG were the first team I saw put us out of Europe back in 1973. Germans (Cologne) would also put us out in the EC QF 78/79 (after beating Juventus and PSV). Makes you marvel at how we managed to put Bayern Munich out of the ECWC in 72, a team full of Germans who had won the European Championship and would go onto win the WC in 74.
  8. I think I've stated what I think and why, on various occasions. Try reading them slowly.
  9. No, I have said that the last 18 months has been an omnishambles and it is their own fault why they arrive at this juncture with so much in the air and uncertain.
  10. But if that person had suffered a bad bout of food posioning from his previous visit, he may have deliberated over his choice somewhat longer. --------------- I agree in that I'd have preferred a quick resolution with IMO the obvious candidate but all I'm saying is that I can understand why it has developed the way it has. However, it's the boards own decisions during the past 18 months that have pushed them down this track.
  11. I agree with most of that although given circumstances, I wouldn't blame the board for going through with the selection process as they had decided to do it. Where they are to blame, is why it has all reached this stage and for 18 months of omnishambles. I said a week or two ago that I thought they might end up getting the wrong man but with what seemed the 'right process'. I'd lean heavier toward that now. Post the Kilmarnock draw was IMO crying out for an almost immediate approach for McInnes but the board were probably divided and having got the Pedro appt. wrong on a systemic level decided they had to take their time and do it in a 'thorough manner'. ...but it's really more about getting it right. The AGM arrives at a time when the club needs to take stock and take measures/make changes at various levels.
  12. Good straightforward passage into the next round was what we needed. Gives a new manager some breathing space. I know one Bear who'll be very pleased with this draw and for once there won't be a long journey involved.
  13. Simply getting him off the wage bill would be a plus if the new manager was looking for some margin in the January transfer window. I commented on the match thread after seeing the Murty pre-match interview that the 'back-injury story' sounded a bit dubious and Murty himself, wasn't quite himself. If true, the whole episode would have done the group no favours. The Dundee match looks like another potential banana skin.
  14. Over the years (including the 20M when Sir Duped was around) DK seems to be employing a unique way of getting the "'pay-out" you mention.
  15. I'd agree that the dynamic needs changing. - Added business and political expertise in the boardroom would be a plus. - The overall current unseen dynamic wrt how decisions are made/ splits, etc. isn't working - A hard-nosed and competent CEO is needed to manage a modified longterm strategy
  16. Sir Duped didn't bring Souness in but yes he did arrive (late 1988) and find ways to bring quality players in. The sooner the better that the board and the support realise that the "pony-up" option (to the extent neccessary) won't happen under anyone,...the better. We need to stabilise the club and better manage a longterm strategy that seeks value for every pound spent....that sees us steadily improve as a sustainable business. It'll take years and is a significant challenge.
  17. Crowds were relatively poor even when we were winning trophies under Jock Wallace in the 70's. The vast increase in crowd numbers came with the Souness revolution, something that captured the imagination of the support and filled the stadium.
  18. I think you touch on the time that things started to go t1ts-up and a tendency that has continued, desperately needs halted, then reversed. Whatever the exact reasons behind it,....... it has developed into an ominishambles and the board have to answer for it.
  19. Sport has always been cyclical but it's increasingly more business than sport. The financial disparities that are emerging in football, point towards a pecking order that is very difficult to change.
  20. It was actually 'a cunning plan' ala Bain. Martin Bain called our board to request we make a false offer so that Sunderland would have to offer more.
  21. It begs the question...... What or who that is well intentioned and bears pots of gold........... comes in it's place ? --------------- This isn't saying they can't go, it's asking the practical question of what would come next ?.....
  22. What we have is the... 'hard of thinking Then'... attempting to justify themselves but only suceeding to show themselves as... 'the hard of thinking Now'. You can bet your last penny on most of them becoming 'hard of thinking Tomorrow & probably Forever'.
  23. In an ideal world, Miller wouldn't be near the starting XI but our squad is very light at the moment and decent options are few. Pena has been blacklisted, Kranjcar isn't mobile enough, Dorrans is injured. It could be argued that Herrera hasn't been given a decent shot at it and if Moreleos is going to play much of the game out of the box, then put the Mexican up front.
