  1. I think you've mis-read my post. I said that Fullerton and Protestant Knife Gangs have nothing to do with a modern day Rangers. As quoted here; To which you quoted and replied; So I'm missing something here? Enlarged the links, for ease of understanding
  2. My thoughts first of all hell of a sponsoring pick! Good luck to him, hope he's better in enough time to get some games for us again this season.
  3. So you're telling me Billy Fullerton and Protestant knife gangs have something to do with the modern day Rangers FC?
  4. Is it?! Before that it would have been "A goal".. Before that "Marching Through Georgia".. The only way for that tune to comeback at Rangers is through change. The Billy Boys is outdated, as much as the "A goal" version is now. Knife gangs, Billy Fullerton nothing to do with Rangers Football Club in the modern age.
  5. Why "Billy Boys" though? In this modern time? Not Rangers boys? Just asking for thoughts in it.
  6. I'd love to see him come alive in this league. So far..
  7. The original ISN'T the billy boys. See above. Cut out the banned line, replace it with the "50'000 strong" line as someone mentioned above and replace Billy boys with Rangers boys.
  8. Sing the original; A Goal, A Goal Sung to the tune of Marching Through Georgia and if you replace the words A Goal, A Goal with Hullo Hullo then you'll realise it's practically the same as The Billy Boys Lyrics We are the people who sing of victory, And pull our football glory from Kilmarnock to Dundee. We follow Glasgow Rangers; are hearts are strong and true, We are the people who cheer the boys in blue. A Goal! A Goal! We're ready to acclaim. A Goal! A Goal! To claim another game. We follow Glasgow Rangers, our hearts are strong and true, We are the people who cheer the boys in blue. We'll be there at Ibrox when Rangers take the field, We'll follow onto triumph for we know they'll never lose. And 60,000 voices will cheer the whole game through, For we are the people who cheer the boys in blue. A Goal! A Goal! We're ready to acclaim. A Goal! A Goal! To win another game. We follow Glasgow Rangers, our hearts are strong and true, We are the people who cheer the boys in blue. A Goal! A Goal! We're ready to acclaim. A Goal! A Goal! To clinch another game. We follow Glasgow Rangers, our hearts are strong and true, We are the people who cheer the boys in blue.
  9. The original had nothing to do with celtic. A goal, a goal...
  10. Why sing about them anyway? Fuck them.
  11. Yes, it's pretty bad. Frame rate errors I believe, massive fail from Rangers TV, someone will get their arse kicked for that. Surely it was checked before being batch produced? I guess checking it on a computer is different to on a TV.
  12. Great letter, but should also include the others too, 1902, 1961, 1967 and 1969.
  13. It's not the end of the world, but it was a shame when he droppe the suit. Was always a decent tradition to see Rangers managers in suits.
  14. IMO if Queens Park had became professional Celtic wouldn't have became as big as they did, Rangers were already a force by 1888, and Queens Park started to dwindle quickly thereafter as the 'professional' game came to light. If they had taken the same steps as us, IMO the Oldest Derby in Glasgow would have remained the strongest. Celtic paid players to come from Hibernian to play for them in their early years. This was in a stricly amateur game, where payment of players was forbidden. Not like them eh? We started from very humble beginnings, the young lads worked hard at night, and fought against grown men for the Scottish Cup on various occasions, building the foundations of what became our great club. The beauty of it is, that it is being echoed now, with the young lads stepping up and helping to re-build the club to it's previoius place at the top of the game. Whilst they already have a fantastic fan base behind them, which the early Rangers did not - it'll be great to watch them grow and prosper from league to league.
  15. Nice poster! An actual one from the time.. Rangers version..
  16. Sadly there are no pictures or record (well very little) of Clyde Amateur Rowing Club from that time due to a fire in the war! I went along and did some research down there, photographs too, and eventually rowed with them for a while and the star is the same star, a 6 pointed Marion star (slightly different angled bursts) not a Star of David as incorrectly thought by most. There is a connection somewhere between the rowing club and Rangers especially with the star, but no research has found anything major about the star yet. In an early account by one of the pioneers, they stated that "There was a rowing club in connection with the Rangers in these early days" - I ponder that there might have been a 'Rangers Rowing Club" in the early days, the founders played many sports and other teams of the time too, example Vale of Leven had a shinty team with the same players as the football club. I noticed on an early club letter from 1874 it had "Rangers' Football Club" - notice the apostrophe on the S, meaning it belongs to "The Rangers". Maybe the "Rangers" in the early days had various sporting wings, rowing, shinty etc.. The Rangers' Rowing Club, The Rangers' Shinty Club etc (all amateur clubs of course). Just a thought. The rugby hypothesis would fit into that! Interesting theory about the ball, upon looking in my history of rugby book I see the ball does look similar to an early rugby ball, putting both of our theories together, maybe the photograph was a homage to their inspiration, their foundations of Swindon Rugby Club (almost a "this is us as the Swindon rangers") for the Cup Final..the rugby ball being further homage. The patch on Vallance's chest is due to his recent capping for Scotland! So that is an odd one!
  17. Agreed. Love the looking away to a tele-prompter of some sort
  18. Both very similar in the early days I believe? Would be interesting if they played rugby at the start! To be fair, football was a game split into "Association" and "Rugby" in those days! Kilmarnock started as a rugby team didn't they?
