  1. I'm swinging round to the idea that Broner just isn't that good. Unless he's fighting Maidana again I've no interest in watching him fight. Usually a loud mouth boxer will have something to give in the ring, whether that be through skill or just being an exciting fighter to watch, Broner gives neither.

  2. Find it really hard to care about the Ward-Smith fight.

Broner-Porter would have been better had it been at 147 instead of this daft catchweight nonsense that seems to be rife in the sport just now. Porter began his career at something like 165lbs, so just wonder if 144 is a step too far. Hopefully Porter knocks him out, but can see Broner sneaking a decision.

  3. Ok, some thoughts:

Thought Khan looked good last night; was a must win fight on a big stage and he delivered. Sure Collazo is older than when Hatton fought him, but very few fighters really dominate him like that. Didn't like Khan's holding, but if the referee isn't going to stop him then he's within his right to keep doing it if it's working for him. Would like to see him have another fight at 147 before securing the Floyd fight.

Mayweather won in my eyes (116-112 is what I had), but it wasn't one of his better nights. Needed to use his legs more than he did, but credit to Maidana for not letting him and making it a competitive fight.

For the most part, I felt Floyd landed the cleaner and better punches all night with Maidana working more and looking busy. And even when Maidana had him trapped on the ropes, Floyd gave as good as he got when on the inside - such an underrated facet of his game. Easy to forget how comfortable Floyd is on the inside.

I can see how some had the fight a draw and don't have a problem with it, but I can't make a case for Maidana winning.

And I don't think Floyd even enters the discussion as GOAT. He'll certainly go down in history as one of the best, but doesn't come close to being THE best.

  4. When Floyd moved up to 147 he became safety first and focused much more on his defence. For that reason I doubt we see him knock anyone out in the remaining four fights of his career. Well, actually, he may KO Khan if he really wants to.

Thing is with Floyd, when you watch him have his own way with fighters, you get the impression that he could knock them out, but he chooses not to. The Floyd of 130/135 was a beast.

  5. As said I can't understand why he did what he did. It doesn't make any sense, even then he wasn't getting totally outboxed by Pacquiao and didn't need to to do too much more in rounds 6-12 to be in them... but he chose not to.

I'm unconvinced by Pacquiao last night. Obviously he hasn't became rubbish, and is still a top fighter, but I don't so much think he won that as Bradley just handed it to him.

I came away thinking the same. I'm certainly not buying all the talk of Manny being "back".

  6. Pac v Bradley was an odd one. I was expecting it to be pretty lopsided looking at the scores, but watched it there and it was closer than the cards suggest. Not

what was Bradley thinking though? Tactics all wrong and didn't change them. He only needed to swing rounds a little bit and it he is winning them.

I thought the first 6 rounds were pretty close and Bradley was doing well, boxing and working well to the body, then he just seemed to neglect all that and look for one big shot.

  7. Frampton v quigg is a massive fight , frampton has looked superb recently but quigg is a very talented fighter , class fight but won't be made as mcguigan is a bellend an won't deal with matchroom

Other way around I think; Hearn won't be putting Quigg in with Frampton any time soon.

  8. Provided both avoid an loss, and one (or both) pick up a strap.... It's a domestic superfight in 12mths time. Both fighters need bummed up though!

Frampton needs better exposure though, for a great prospect, he's fighting on a Friday, on a PPV channel with a very low audience. Taking it as a next fight, currently the fight wouldn't generate half the interest it deserves!

I think his exposure is fine. Sells out arena's and he was trending on twitter after the fight, so people are watching him.

  9. Unification fights come before mandatory so they would have to wait if he was fighting Stiverne/Arreola winner

I can't see it being accepted and most boxing journalists have laughed it off too

I don't mind if it is. Rather see Klitschko fight Chisora or Fury than the likes of Lepai.

  10. But if the request for it to be an official eliminator is granted, and with Chisora being ranked number 2, should Chisora win he would more than likely become mandatory.

If Klitschko can fight Lepai and Pianeta he can sure as hell fight Chisora or Fury.

  11. I laugh at Warren saying its a WBO title eliminator and that Wladimir will get the winner

    Absolute nonsense

They've requested it to be an eliminator, so if their request gets granted why wouldn't the winner fight Wlad? Klitschko doesn't have a great deal of opponents out there.

  12. Something defo no right mate but I backed Ricky last night cause I expected him to turn up n give it 100% I don't think he did that tbh..

TC defo wasn't as good as was made out n I would expect a short reign from him as champ..Beltran is in a title elimination match in his next fight(forgot who against)anyway I expect him to be champ by year end.

I don't think Beltran has much more success against Crawford than Burns did to be honest.

  13. Don't know if it came over on TV that well but Crawford's footwork is immense. Honestly, Ricky couldn't get close to him and whenever he did he got caught. I left the arena disappointed at Burns losing but mightily impressed by how easily Crawford dealt with him.

If I'm Ricky's team I pursue Richar Abril. Tough fight because Abril is tricky as hell, but it's more winnable than a rematch with Crawford or a fight with Vasquez.

  14. Seen a lot of criticism over Burns' performance which I think is pretty unfair on Crawford. Aside from the first two rounds Crawford controlled near enough everything. Like Mayweather and Hopkins, Crawford has that ability to make any opponent look worse than they actually are.

Burns has slipped quite a bit though, doesn't use his legs as much as he used to and as a result spend too much time taking punches on the ropes.

But congrats to Crawford, really good performance from him I thought.

  15. As much a don't like khan he made a good point while trying to get the mayweather fight he's been draining himself to make the weight. But when he was comfortable at the weight he took everything maidana threw at him and he was bossing Garcia in every way before getting caught. With a great punch. Ad like to see khan at 147 see how he comes up against some of the top fighters

Was he drained against Julio Diaz at 143?

  16. Burns is in tough tomorrow night. He really has to pressure Crawford otherwise I think he'll get picked off all night.

As for Mayweather-Maidana, well, it's not a great fight, but at least Maidana earned it by fighting.

And for everyone who says Khan's speed would/will trouble Mayweather: Mayweather has dealt with speed before, and it's not as if Khan is hard to time. It's fighters who pressure him that have had the most success against him: Castillo, De La Hoya, Cotto, Emmanuel Augustus to name four.
