We all know how it works though mate and it shows how much he is out of the game that he let that slip. It is a different world to what he knew though so just naivety.

Nothing against him but for me he isn't even in my top three Rangers managers in my lifetime. I would be wary of giving him too much influence.

Fair enough mate, I just think the fans going mad about it helps create the story. If they don’t do that then the story isn’t as big as it became.

    Thanks for posting mate.

Don’t think it helps the context as he’s basically saying Lampard knows the West of Scotland better than Clement is why he was his choice, which is bollocks.

Might be bollocks, but I still think it’s a massive overreaction to what he has said. I take it as he thinks Lampard has been more used to the media and fan scrutiny in the game here than Clement, which in his opinion Lampard might handle it better. And of course is debatable, but is not the most outrageous thing to ever have been said.

Thanks for that info mate, I have not listened to it.

I must admit I am a big Souness fan, but was disappointed what he had said about Lampard because as you say it is being used by the media to cause a split with our fans. I also thought Lampard would have been a disaster for us.

Hopefully if Graeme does get some kind of appointment with our Club, he will quickly realise that he needs to be very careful with what he says because the Tarrier media will not want him back with us, and will use every opportunity to divide him from us fans.

    100% agree.

What he said was naive, you don’t need an agenda when someone is giving headline creating comments like that. The stories write themselves. Stupid comment as shown by today’s press conference.

The main reason this becomes a question in the press conference is because of the Rangers fan’s reaction online. That’s why the article reads the way it does, to provoke this reaction and our fans fall for it. The full interview is good. And very complimentary on our manager.

No, its rank amateur from Souness and if he didn't see how it was going to be portrayed in the media then he is dumb as a fucking rock and either way, should have killed his opportunity with the club dead.

fair enough but I’m not going to agree. Just think his reasoning was fine and it’s our fans that blow it up into something it’s not. Clement dealt with it well as a non story

The small snippet is the headline for a reason, regardless of reasoning he shouldn’t be breaking ranks on the clubs ultimate decision. Imagine another club rep came out and said he preferred Lampard?

It’s a bonkers thing to say, pretty much indefensible and definitely makes you ask whether he should be in this role. And I was one who really wanted him back at the club.

I disagree. What he said was fair. It’s a headline because it’s agenda driven. Which Rangers supporters help make bigger. The context in what he was saying was fine

  7. Looking at the last 2 games (which is all I’m taking into account) I think he’s done well. 1st half he wasn’t great on the ball (no player was) but 2nd half I thought he was one of our better performers. And he’s only going to get better. Think his composure will improve as he becomes more experienced. Having a former belgium  international midfielder coaching him will certainly help.

Think there is a lot more to come from him.

  8. Tonight’s performance was exactly what we have missed for a while now. Players being absolutely desperate not to concede a goal and with a number of excellent blocks/tackles.

A teams make up is usually made up in the form of a manager’s personality. And already it looks promising for Clement.
Given a couple of transfer windows things could be looking good for us.

Even though it’s very early, he seems to have got to grips with the mentality of the squad. Even though things weren’t going well in the 1st half they showed great determination to keep the ball out the net. Something we struggled with over the last year… giving away easy goals.

I hope he can sort out our defending long throws though. As we look well dodgy with most of them

  9. This is a great move by the club. We have lost a few important figures at the club in recent years. To bring someone of the calibre of Souness is brilliant. He’s certainly too old to have a full time post at the club but this sounds perfect.
I don’t see any negatives in have him officially connected to the club again.

  10. Good performance today…. The 2 main differences for me were in midfield, where they actually played in midfield and not as secondary full backs and fewer passes… especially Lundstram. Against Aberdeen he had 110 passes, whereas today he had 55. As a team we played 50% less passes and looked so much better for it.

For me our best players were Tav, Lundstram, Raskin and Sima.
