Got them mate, put them on my good controller to stop it happening again. Posting my faulty one off to Sony tomorrow so hoping for a replacement even though the warranty has expired.

Mines is silent and always has been but the heating issue is new because it was something I was keeping an eye on due to it being in such a small space. I've had it since launch and play it maybe 10 hours a week so it's not on for very long periods of time. That's not stopped me needing a new controller right enough due to the faulty left stick that seems to be a standard issue with every ps4 owner I know.

Got mine in a small compartment under the tv as well. Haven't noticed any increased sound but have noticed an increase in heat, think I'll need to be purchasing insurance also
