  1. The current squad doesn't have a hope in hell of playing like that. Ally's responsible for many problems, but this isn't one of them. We could definitely close down more quickly, and press higher than we do. That's one half of the equation. But none of our players (maybe Templeton at his best) could play the fast accurate passes/one-touch control game quickly enough to make the system work. We'd try it, and every third pass around the centre-backs would go astray. Opposing strikers would know to run on to these, and we'd ship a couple of goals more per game than we do already.
  2. England think of Scotland the same way Germany think of England. The funny bit is that Germany and England have roughly similar resources, and so are broadly comparable. England's poor record, as compared with Germany's, is therefore rightly embarrassing. Scotland, meanwhile, are only about 10% the size of England, so have by any measure continually out-performed their rival massively.
  3. This would definitely give us the best chance of success.
  4. More like the management of a bank found to be embezzling millions, so the junior staff of the bank get punished.
  5. It's just physics mate. He only needed to be an inch further into his dive and the ball would have gone well clear of danger. His extra timber slowed him such that he couldn't quite get to where he should have been.
  6. Seems stupid to mention it while we've still got no proper manager but- Simonsen is a couple of stone overweight, minimum. He'd have saved their goal had his belly not been holding him back.
  7. The bastards are so crooked they'd probably insist that any compensation went towards outstanding debts of the old holding company.
  8. Scotland has a similar problem to Rangers right now- The people at the top are very bad for the organisation. All the piss and wind surrounding both stem from this simple fact. Is it sufficient reason to hate either?
  9. Sit doon.Too much energy has been wasted on what turns out to be wishful thinking. The way to fuck the dhims is with a strong football team, not fevered imaginings.
  10. So was this just a figment of our imagination all along? I tried to read PZJ's stuff, but could never quite see a smoking gun. While I'd love for that lot to get what's coming to them, I hope the next time we start shouting about this kind of thing we 1) Get our own house in order first, and 2) have a properly constructed case to pursue. Embarrassing.
  11. Not that I agree with Findlay about being a new club, but there are a few home truths which, as long as they remain unacknowledged, represent a weakness to be exploited by our enemies. For starters - We fucked up in a huge way allowing the holding company to go bust.
  12. There's no doubt that Ashley appears to have had a negative impact on Newcastle. Average position went from about 8th (in the 7 years before MA) to 14th (in the 7 years since). With the amount of cash he takes out yearly, that's hardly surprising. But until a better bet comes along, I'll take him over interpol fugitives, convicted criminals and whatever other assorted chancers rock up at our door. This isn't yet about doing well, it's just about doing.
  13. Bhoycotters are wrong for sure. But 'Billionaire wants to run Rangers'?The evidence so far says 'Billionaire wants to harvest money from Rangers without becoming the owner'. I'd love to be wrong, but the last few years have taught me to analyse, rather than blindly accept the press spin. This is no takeover.
  14. Me too.The question isn't whether he'll fail, but whether success will be measured in terms of league position, or Mike Ashley's revenue.
