  1. Sad to hear a Bear passing at a match. Condolences go out to his family :-(
  2. I don't know - I would have to take the situation on it's merit if it were ever to arise. I asked the question because we have had examples in the past of fans being vocal in their condemnation of players signing but ultimately most change their opinions over time. I know it's a sore point for us and perhaps it will never come to anything but put it this way - if he was a shite player then no-one would give a fuck about him, the fact there are so many threads created when his situation is publicised shows that many still think he is a good player as well.
  3. You care enough to open a thread and post a comment. I care because like others, can see he is a good player (probably not as technically good as Johnston but better than Miller - two players who most of us didn't want to see play for us) and I felt the question should be asked about if he could return or not.
  4. Can anyone ever see him back playing for us? I know it sounds a totally ridiculous question to put out there as obviously feelings are still very raw for a lot of us, however I remember shouts of "You can shove yer Kenny Miller up yer arse" shortly before Sir Walter sanctioned the purchase of him. Going back a tad further in time there was the little matter of a certain Mr M Johnston signing. The fact is we don't know all the ins and outs of every players situation at the time, we can all declare we would have done this, that, or the other but most of those declarations are made on the back of our feelings toward the club as fans.
  5. It must be challenging to try and write a blog everyday without a bit of rehashing going on. I think he does write a fair amount of things that certainly make me want to question things but may not interest others, and then there are times where his continued posts about Spiers can get a bit tiresome. To sum up, I click on his site every other day at least, and have a quick scan of the subject matter - if it interests me then I'll read on, if not then click on to the next webpage. I dont think I can argue too much against someone who is providing something for free on the net and it is my choice whether I visit it or not.
  6. But, but, but Petrie, the likes of you were peddling this crap about fans boycotting season tickets if you were seen to be supporting us in our hour of need. The likes of you were peddling this myth that x amount of extra fans would flock through the turnstyles to make up the loss in revenue from two visits from us. The likes of you were peddling this myth that the SPL was thriving. So much peddling Rod - time to get on your bike!
  7. It will really depend if the next manager appointed has a backbone or not I guess. You can't see the likes of Alan Hutton getting started when not getting first team action at Villa when the likes of Wallace is continually playing (and flourishing) for us while not even being picked for the squad.
  8. Thanks for the help guys!

    CoD

Looking for a bit of guidance here folks. The laddie would like CoD for his Christmas, so I've been searching about for deals online for it however when we got him FIFA for his Birthday, we bought him what we thought was the full game only for him to ask for us to buy points so he could unlock players or something. I've heard that you can get extra maps/levels/whatever it is for this game as well but wondered if you could buy the game anywhere with everything already on it? Know this makes me sound old but when I were a lad when you bought a computer game it was the full version you bought, now the producers are selling the games for 30-40 odd quid and then a further 10-15 for extra parts. Is this just the norm now?
  10. Thanks for the find, have saved it and will watch it later.
  11. If he was any kind of man he would have said he believed what he had written at that time. For him to try and worm out of it the way he did was pathetic especially when he had published his thoughts on social media sites, surely he must realise that there will be people out there who will take whatever he says and redistribute when caught out/proven wrong etc? Surely now media outlets such as newspapers, radio & tv programmers will see he is discredited, his opinions are questionable which naturally follow that those seeking his appearances are questionable.
  12. Must be one of the worst things a parent can go through in having your child pass away before you. Hope the rest of the family get through this difficult time and remember all the good memories of her life.
  13. In your eyes it looks like that, in my eyes it's trying to deal with the situation in an objective manner. If it were up to me we'd be able to shout/sing/scream what we want at the football. Times have changed though, and we have been singled out first for getting punished therefore I see this acceptance of "h**" as unacceptable, which in turn means we still have to watch what we say. Might be different from what you think but don't just disregard it with the ever so obvious questioning of the OP, hats off to you though - at least you didn't do the classic "sniff sniff"
  14. Please spare me that nonsense! I knew as I was starting the thread that someone would try to start that.
  15. But do you not see the irony in complaining about sectarian terms being used when it could be traced back to users using it openly on a forum? It's like screaming at the referee for not giving a penalty for you and then when the same incident occurs in the other box you scream that it's never a penalty. If you want to treat this objectively then imo we have to cut it out as well, otherwise we would just come across as being hypocritical.
  16. I'm glad that after the incident with Stirling Albion's secretary and his use of sectarian terms has been dealt with promptly and with no little dignity from the Club, but I have to ask; For all on here who complained/emailed/got in touch with media outlets about the use of "h**" and it's general acceptance by Scottish society, are we going to start self policing on here to eradicate those terms labelled sectarian? We can't have our cake and eat it, and if we are going to be proactive in getting the message out that we won't accept being called "H***" then we must make sure that we keep our noses clean as well, otherwise there will just be this constant back and forth complaining at everyone without it ever being dealt with.
  17. The 3g pitch may have played a part in the injury, but to say there shouldn't be games played on it because of injury is as daft as saying if a player catches his studs on a grass pitch, that games should no longer be played on grass. If we know we are going to be playing a match on 3g we should have the guys training on it so they can judge movement, turns, pace of the ball traveling over the surface etc so they aren't caught out on matchday, that seems to me to be simple preparation. You wouldn't expect to get through a game against a team who deploy a 6ft 3 target man and the long ball without working on facing that during the week at training, what's the difference here?
  18. It's just another example of people in Scottish society having a general acceptance in everyday use of the sectarian term "H***" to refer to us. Oh and I agree with the poster above who says if we boycott Stirling that it will be the ordinary fan that suffers. Just the same that there will be a percentage of us who let the club down at times, there will be percentages of other clubs who do the same.
  19. Its relative really - SPL player moves to Rangers = lack of ambition EPL player moves to SPL club = great for the SPL profile In fact, it isn't really relative the way it's been reported is it? ;-)
  20. People can dress it up how they wish, be it because he plays for us or because he used to play for Hearts. The real question is what kind of person are you when you want to actively single out one player on your side and boo him? How is that meant to inspire them to try 100% for the supporters? We've all tutted or FFS'd when a team has been read out or a sub comes on but it's just not cricket to hurl abuse at them, its not the player's fault that they have been asked to play. Most rational people realise that it was an embarrassment, that the behaviour was immature and frankly pathetic, but then we don't have anyone out there willing to publicly state that fact and shame those who did it!
  21. It's only natural that there is a sense of disappointment from us that two promising young players have left our club to join what we could consider "smaller clubs" but to suddenly have this massive shift in opinions of certain players doesn't sit well with me. The fact is if we hadn't just gone through what we have done, I'll bet most of us would have had one or both of them in starting lineups for any potential Euro qualifier we could have been facing in the match threads. Some of the posts I've read since the likes of Whittaker, Naismith et al left, in terms of hoping they suffer serious injury are frankly nothing better than what we would read on that lot's sites. It may be the case that Ness and McCabe never reach the heights we or they think they can reach but to label them as "pish" or whatever is frankly wrong. Fwiw, I'd have liked them to move to a team on the Continent rather than down south as I think they would have a better chance to flourish with the skills I believe them still to possess.
  22. If it's agreed that we gain our license and have an embargo from 1st September for a year then I suppose its a compromise that suits both sides. We have time to try and gain a few bodies to bolster numbers to get us through to at least January window of 2014 while the governing bodies safe face to an extent in that they are seen to be enforcing their punishments. I only hope that in setting up this compromise, we don't then leave ourselves open to further draconian sanctions in the future ie the "no right of appeal"
  23. I agree in principle but that will take patience from the support, we were a pretty unforgiving support at times when we were chasing titles in the SPL and that was in a two horse race, imagine what it may be like in a potential one horse race if we have a couple of young lads struggling for confidence - the cries of get the baw up the park will be louder than ever!
  24. One of the potential negatives of us being in the 3rd division is that our better talents at the u17's and u19's may decide that they would be better served by getting moves elsewhere. It may be harder for us to keep or even attract new talents to our club with some favouring a move to even a mediocre SPL team. Or it could be the case that the younger players see this as the best opportunity to make the next step in their careers in that in previous years, we have farmed out a few of them to teams in lower leagues to gain experience - surely with a mix of more experienced pros we should have enough to get up through the leagues, especially if we are looking to keep them on full time. In terms of the experienced pro's I think we may see stop gaps from year to year, ie signing players who will do a job for that particular division. Time will tell, but I hope we manage to keep some of the better talents and try to impose a new style of play, but I realise that in the lower leagues it isn't always easy to play silky stuff when up against a group of bruisers.
  25. I've seen a few of those now but they never get boring! :-D
