I'm not sure I've got the guts to put forward such an uhpopular view, especially as I am far removed from Ibrox, but.... Ally has obviously been a source of great inspiration in the darkest days, but does that make him a great manager? Remember the criticisms of his performance before the disaster - his Europe failure, the early exit from the cups, Rangers losing its lead in the SPL, his eccentric team selection ( and of course his signing of Matt McKay and then failure to give him a fair chance). The financiers may be looking for someone with more imposing managerial credentials, especially if his presence does not guarantee the retention of the players. In such a case one would hope that he could occupy a post that would better exploit his qualities and status.
