Sutton himself was one of the biggest cheats around. Every old firm he’d win free kicks in dangerous areas for backing in to defenders and throwing himself to the ground. This was in the O’Neill era when just about their entire team was 6 foot plus and we had the likes of 5”10 Michael Ball marking 6”5 Varga at set pieces.

He’s terrible. Awful first touch, can’t run in behind, can’t hold the ball up, most of the time he wrestles defenders for high balls and either commits a foul or doesn’t even jump to compete for a header, can’t get the ball under control, doesn’t link up play very well, fairly stagnant movement… I’m not sure if there are any positives.

Was that the square ball in the middle of the park? Unbelievable. Their second goal involved a comedy of errors and one was him not even bothering to challenge for the ball which Cifu scooped into the air.
