  1. He played 5 at the back for a lot of the 9-in-a-row years.
  2. Jeez. All this talk among our support of a new way to play football, vague references to a 'philosophy' akin to Swansea and Dutch football and now the anti-thesis of all of that in Alex McLeish is mentioned to replace McCoist. While I rate him as a manager he isn't going to deliver Barcelona at Ibrox as so many want. 'Sorry for protesting outside Ibrox about you Alex, but come back and play that silky tiki-taka that you are so renowned for.' May as well dig up Helenio Herrera and stick him in the dugout.
  3. We won't be happy as a fan base until we start playing Tika-taka under Billy Davies.
  4. Genuinely feel for their fans considering we came so close to losing our own club a year ago. I know many will take a lot of joy in this, and that is up to them, but I hate to see any club disappear. Just my opinion.
  5. Quite glad that he is keeping quiet purely on the basis that we are getting back to speaking about football again. I just think back to last year when we had statement after statement from the club, the administrators, potential buyers etc.... Yeah, was good at the time for keeping us informed but now that our future is pretty much secure - finances are good, new sponsorship deals are in place, commission is over and BTC is more or less out of the way - there is no real need for him to be making many statements.
  6. I said 'maybe', as in, anything is possible but I don't believe it myself. I don't get the hype with him in all honesty. Yeah, he is decent enough but, as I said above, I don't believe that he is the answer to all our footballing problems like many try to portray him as.
  7. I love how Billy 'The Rangers Messiah' Davies pops up as the perfect Ranger manager every time something goes wrong. Purely my own opinion but I would be willing to put a few hundred quid on a bet that says he would turn down the Rangers job if he was offered it today. He is a decent manager and maybe he could be the best Rangers manager since Struth but to paint him as the guiding light to save us from Ally's eternal darkness is inexpedient at best.
  8. The Bear dancing about? Wouldn't mind having what he was on. Probably similar to the Elgin fan at Ibrox last year!
  9. Personally don't think that it is as important as it is being made out but a win after last week's disappointment would be nice and take us a step closer to winning the league and some silverware this season.
  10. 80s-90s especially. Great when you look back at the Advocaat years too and realise the quality we had. A team with the likes of Klos, Albertz, Numan, Van Bronckhorst, Ferguson, Mols to name a few. Some fantastic games from that period.
  11. Yeah, Walter celebrating down the touchline was something I will always remember!
  12. Zamparini is a nut case. Think he has went through 51 managerial changes in 25 years at Palermo and Venezia or something. Saying that, the longest serving manager in Serie A at the minute is Mazzarri I think at just over 3 years. It isn't really a league for stability.
  13. Considering the 'doom and gloom' kicking about recently I thought I would, as I often do after a few cans, take a venture to some games past. Love revisiting some of the games from the 90s considering The Battle of Britain was probably my first memory (barely) as a Rangers fan. Anyway, I remember the nervousness before this Old Firm game and the sheer joy when the final whistle went. Also remember trying to replicate the Di Canio free kick with my mates in school the next week, haha. It set us on our way to 9 in a row. Any other old games you want to share then post below - I have spent many an hour on YouTube going through them all. Enjoy and credit to 'therangers1872' who has a fantastic YouTube channel!
  14. This guy is amazing. His sheer, raw emotion when Pippo Inzaghi scored his last goal for Milan is fantastic viewing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOPQnEY2wAU Get him on Soccer Saturday.
