Lovely wee article
celtic manager Neil Lennon has resigned from his role at celtic after enduring one of the worst seasons in recent memory.
The Parkhead club sit unfathomably far behind Rangers in Scotland’s top tier after a string of domestic failures, European humiliations and frankly confusing selection policies.
It puts a tin hat on celtic’s challenge for ten championships in a row, a record unparalleled in Scottish football, which would have been the culmination of the club’s ambitions for a decade.
Every social media post the club has made has been accompanied by a coordinated series of Lennon Out replies for months now, with the celtic hierarchy’s refusal to acknowledge the obvious, near-unanimous feelings of the supporters driving home the obvious disconnect between the PLC board and the paying punters.
A few weeks ago, to the joy of the vast majority in green and white, long-time club CEO Peter Lawwell announced his retirement. Now, Lennon’s departure offers the chance for something to come from what will go down in infamy as one of the worst seasons at least since the turn of the millennium.
Lennon’s departure had long been called for by celtic fans. Many hoped that it might come in August, after the club were unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League by Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in a European capitulation that fans had seen from Lennon’s teams before.
Then there was the series of results in the back end of 2020, when celtic were humbled by a COVID-depleted Sparta Prague home and away, threw away a late lead at Aberdeen, lost in the League Cup at home to Ross County (their first domestic cup defeat in over three years) and lost home and away to Rangers.
Even completing a third consecutive treble in December was maligned by many, as it took a penalty shootout to overcome second-tier Heart of Midlothian, in a tie that celtic should have won easily after racing to a 2-0 lead.
Now, celtic might well salvage something from this season by using the rest of it as a testing ground. There will surely be a huge overhaul of players in the summer, as young stars Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer will leave, while loanees Moi Elyounoussi and Diego Laxalt will return to their parent clubs. Few will be sad to see Shane Duffy return to Brighton.
Lennon’s assistant John Kennedy will take charge of the team. The pressure is now on incoming CEO Dominic McKay to make the big call on the new manager, and whether, as many supporters would prefer, the business model may pivot to the continental-style Director of Football/Head Coach system.
With a new man at the top and a new man due in the dugout, the time is ripe for drastic change. After Lennon’s tenure, it can’t get much worse.

all this season has done is completely smash the 9 years worth of self praise and propaganda they built while we rebuilt . They thought that a catastrophic season was never an option with them . That for us to win celtic would have to be extremely unlucky
reality and karma had gave them a proper boot in the balls and I have loved every minute of it .

The lovely Belinda Carlisle & the Go-Go’s know the score...
Can you hear them?
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well, that's no surprise
Can you see them?
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
There's a weapon
That we must use
In our defense
Silence reveals
When you look at them
Look right through them
That's when they'll disappear
That's when we'll be feared
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
Pay no mind to what they say
It doesn't matter anyway
Our lips are sealed

If they drop points on Sunday, they’ll be forever known as Cowards. Not willing to defend their own ground. Yellow.
