Some quotes from opposition players on the Ibrox Atmosphere
    Didier Drogba (Chelsea)
"All I can say when I try to imagine what it will be like at Ibrox is Ooh la la!' I played against Rangers at Ibrox with Chelsea in the summer and we lost 2-0, I have told Perrin that the atmosphere at Ibrox is absolutely magical. To my way of appreciating football, its truly really beautiful. That's how to support your team!"
Drogba goes on "Lyon played at Celtic a couple of seasons ago but Ibrox will be completely different!"
    Thierry Henry (FC Barcelona)
"I know the atmosphere that's generated here and that makes it tough for any team. I thought the fans were unbelievable again.
"They were not swearing or shouting stupid things, they pushed their team forward and that's great to see."
    Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
"The Rangers fans were awesome, all the lads were talking about it," said Lampard.
"The reception I got when I went to take corners during the game, and after when we were going off, was really nice.
"They certainly love their own team, but it was very special to get that welcome. It was amazing really, and a very good game to play in for us, certainly the best friendly we've had.
"With that kind of backing from their crowd, they will be hard to beat. And I expect to see Rangers in the Champions League.
    Hernan Crespo (AC Milan)
"I've played at Ibrox --the atmosphere in Scottish stadiums is sensational."
    Lionel Letizi (PSG)
"I'd been told about the incredible atmosphere but could not believe how loud it was.
"When we arrived and walked out on to the pitch, the stadium was empty because we were early.
"We went back inside to change and when we walked into the tunnel we could hear a rumbling noise.
"And when we went back on to the pitch I could not believe my ears. The sound was terrifying and the game had not even started yet.
"I then had to walk to my goal and when the referee blew his whistle to start the match the sound which came from the stand at my back almost knocked me over.
"It was amazing and I am really looking forward to experiencing this again - as a Rangers player."
    Henning Berg (When at Rangers)
"The atmosphere was better than anything I experienced at Old Trafford, even better than playing Juventus there. I will never forget this night.
    Dado Prso (Monaco)
"The atmosphere was incomparable, and I had goosebumps throughout the match," he said of the 2-2 draw, despite spending the first 56 minutes on the bench.
Since then, I have never experienced anything as intense in any of the other European stadia I've played football in. Rangers are the club I needed to join. They are a club in my own image, and their ambitions are on the same level as my own."
    Gary Neville (Manchester United)
"This was the loudest atmosphere that I have known, compared to any English ground away from home.

"But this was definitely up there with the best. It was fantastic.
"When we came out at the start I was looking around me and I saw people in the directors' box jumping up singing and I was wondering what was happening. It is not usually like that.
"The crowd beating us was never going to happen - but thank goodness they didn't score."

"Usually players don't even hear supporters when we play but it was impossible to ignore the crowd in Glasgow.
"When they scored, the noise was amazing, incredible. It was a very beautiful spectacle.
"I could almost say I was not totally sad when they scored - that crowd deserved it.
"It seems there will be 6000 Rangers fans here but only 4000 will get into the stadium. Well, it's going to be noisy inside and out.
"Their fans are great and it will help them but it was a lot noisier at Ibrox than it will be at our ground. The Madrigal fans support us a lot but in a different way."
    Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona)
"It is not just made up that players can suffer from an intimidating atmosphere when they play at visiting grounds.
"I know from Ruud (Ruud van Nistelrooy) that when we beat PSV at Ibrox in the Champions League he thought it was very frightening. He said it was one of the most atmospheric matches he had ever experienced - and now he has to face it again. For him to come back to Ibrox it will be the same experience.
"I know that Manchester United's players face all the biggest games and full stadiums everywhere, but I think most of them will find this Wednesday night at Ibrox a really different atmosphere.
"I've played in England and I don't think that any stadium in the Premiership can compare with Ibrox for its intimidating atmosphere - it is far above them."

"There have been certain nights at Old Trafford in European games - the ones against Juventus comes to mind - when the atmosphere was incredible.
"But this was definitely up there with the best. It was fantastic.
"When we came out at the start I was looking around me and I saw people in the directors' box jumping up singing and I was wondering what was happening. It is not usually like that.
"The crowd beating us was never going to happen - but thank goodness they didn't score."
    Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United)
"I'll never forget that night we played there. The atmosphere was unbelievable, very hostile.
Villarreal will think they've experienced a lot of good atmospheres but I really think the Rangers support could startle them.
    Marcos Senna (Villarreal)

A lot moan about Ally not being a manager, never in my life have I seen fans ask their manager to leave when they are on a 15 gaming winning streak. In fact I would have thought it would be the other way round extend his contract. Aye I hear you say he brought in SPL players to win the league, if we can afford them why not, we should walk leagues to get to the top again. The way I see it he has to bring in better players as he cannot risk not winning a title to get back to the top. Who picked these players and what was the two reason these players joined our club?? Yes that right they see us as a big club and Ally was the other reason they join, every interview etc all of the players look to Ally for guidance, there must have something that some fans don't see that players do in Ally. I am not say that every game this season has been good but at times even in the top league we battled and got a result, ya we all went home think that was a shite game but its 3 points, these lower leagues are not different not every team in this league are PT players which a lot forget about but seem to think every team and players in this league are cooks and plumbers is just being narrow minded and disrespectful to team we play, no wonder some the fans don't like us. Anyhow said my piece.

Does the op think McCoist reads this forum? How many times has he posted these threads? Who will Rangers be able to get in right now as manager of McCoist did leave?
He's just as bad as the people who shout sack the board but they don't know who they want to replace them.
I don't think he's the right man to lead Rangers to win the SPL and compete in Europe but i'm happy to let him continue until we get back to the SPL.

Remember when I was a kid and even as a teenager following the parades and ahead of each lodge would be, as now, the ubiquitous band to entertain. Difference is now that band members appear to outnumber Lodge members by quite a substantial amount. It also seems that members on parade are either getting white on top or are bald. Makes you wonder what will happen when this generation of lodge members have passed on. Will the tradition continue??
The age of the members of the Lodge on parade IMHO blows out of the water the theory that these people do not attend church on a regular basis. A myth often perpetuated by certain elements within Scotland's media.

What an absolutely appalling and ignorant statement, which I will deal with in due course.
But firstly its amazing how many people within this thread are claiming it has no connection with Rangers whatsoever. Perhaps in my advancing years my ears are suffering from some kind of hallucination, but I would swear that the song repertoire I hear Bears singing reflects something completely different to that. The Sash, Derry's Walls, Build My Gallows to name but a few...are they not reflective of a Protestant/Loyalist culture which appears to be very much alive within our support ? So to suggest that there is no connection to Rangers would appear to be completely at odds with the facts.
The Battle of the Boyne had a significant impact on the whole of Europe. The Grand Alliance (League of Augsburg) was a European Union of States which sought to halt the advance of French colonialism under Louis the 14th. Both King William and the Holy Roman Empire were part of that Grand Alliance, in fact it was on the advice of the former that the latter actually formed the League of Augsburg or Grand Alliance. Pope Alexander the 8th was part of the aforesaid alliance.
On a more localised scale Irish Protestants (many of them Ulster Scots) supported William whilst Irish Catholics favoured James. The armies reflected such allegiances and also supported the wider European context of this battle previously alluded to. The Williamite army consisted of Dutch, Danes, Prussian and French Hugenots as well as Scots/Irish and English Protestants, whilst the forces of James consisted of French troops augmented by Irish Catholic infantrymen.
William's victory at the Boyne was a major factor in the shaping of the country we know today as the United Kingdom. Perhaps even more so in Scotland, where following the Scottish Reformation, Presbyterianism was still in something of an infancy, but was to go on to shape the Scotland we know today and its ability to do so was in no small part as a result of William's Boyne victory.
Of course opposition to Orange marches is a fairly new thing, not only in Scotland but Northern Ireland also. Ruth Dudley Edwards explains the sinister motivation behind it in her book "The Faithful Tribe".
