I wasn't making a direct comparison, I was simply making a case for the fact that you CAN be an employee AND a fan. I also believe that if an low EPL or Championship club came in for McCoist he would stay at Rangers. Maybe i'm naiive.

The poster I was replying to said that you can't be an employee AND a fan. I would argue that McCoist was a fan before he plated for us, when he played for us, and now that he manages us. I'd like to hear somebody argue otherwise. As for not having other options, are you serious? You don't think he could earn more money with 100% less stress doing TV work? So why is he still here?

Fair enough. I'd argue that McCoist was and is a Rangers fan though. Same could be said for McCulloch. So there are exceptions. I don't think saying that most players are money-grabbing traitors necessarily makes it OK.

Well he didn't turn up for training, declared himself a free agent and is in contract discussions with clubs that haven't asked our permission. I'd say he's probably left.

I should add that I don't think I actually levelled any abuse at anyone - as I said, just stated facts.

I find it bizarre, this attitude some other clubs have that we should feel guilty that they are in this position, saying things like "we're in this position through no fault of our own". We should only feel guilty for their loss of revenue if they get on their knees and thank us for keeping them afloat for all these years. Our money allows them to survive, and they hate us. Then they lose access to our money, and they still hate us! Why should we care?

Nice analogy! He appears to be saying that we are responsible for the financial well being of the other SPL clubs, and have been all along. Therefore they must all shoulder equal blame for what has happened, given that they were utterly dependant on the proceeds? Surely?

Absolutely 100% yes! What gets me is this "unfair for other clubs to be punished because of us" line. The only reason they are being punished now is because they have been living off us for ever. Not our fault they are totally dependent on our support to survive!

Is it not that the compensation is due if the club has trained the player for X amount of time between 18 and 23? Not sure half a season would entitle us to anything?
