Was he the last man, or not? Didn't manage to see the incident that great at the game. The last 5 minutes or so was just a total shambles. Not even any words for how the referee handled the whole thing. When Candeias finally took the penalty the ref was waving at something again.

Yes we are. Our squad is really short of quality and cover. We've only one natural no.10 in Pena who is terrible. If Dorran gets injured we've nobody really to replace him in centre midfield with any creativity. We've really no natural left midfielders. If Morelos gets injured we're really short up front. Only really Herrera to call on from the senior players, with Miller out the picture. If Tav or John get injured we're relying on Hodson.

It's very easy saying no he's not good enough, but that doesn't really provide a solution to our current problem. He's a better left midfielder than Josh Windass. Our current first choice and therefore would improve the squad. And until January we can't get anyone else. Also our squad looks very light at the moment for cover.

I expect to get slaughtered for suggesting this, however, if we have a clause in his loan to recall him I would definitely do this. I'm not suggesting he is good enough long term, or the answer to all our problems. However, I do feel if we recalled him he would be the best left midfield option that we currently have. He played left back/left midfield in the English championship for Blackpool and some games for Middlesborough too. And Ferguson spoke favourably about him in this position. Holt and Halliday might not be the long term future of the club, but for me they would be good squad options. And currently until we can bring in other players in January for the next two to three months I'd rather go in to games with Halliday and Holt over Windass and Pena.

Or more of a 5-4-1, it's pretty flexible, hence why it's a good option. We couldn't play a straight 3-5-2 against celtic as we'd then get destroyed out wide. Tierney and Sinclair both bombing down our right against only one of our players would have a field day.

The two playing off the main striker drop deep to support the midfield as required. They can be quite hard to pick up.

Anybody else think this could work for us? Think McCrorie, Alves and Cardoso would be a good back 3 and you'd have Wallace or John and Tav or Candeias to play wide midfield/wingback. Jack and Dorrans in the middle, or Rossiter if he can ever find fitness. And plenty of options for the 3 forward areas. I'd personally give Nemane a chance on the left to see what he can do alongside Candeias and Morelos, but there's quite a few options. I'd go: Foderingham or Alnwick McCrorie Alves Cardoso Wallace or John Jack Dorrans Tav Nemane Morelos Candeias

That would be my team too, as we look outnumbered in the middle with just jack and dorran's in the middle and two wide players. Will hopefully give dorrans a bit more freedom. Ideally, we'll get two quality players in to replace candeias and windass. Maybe walker and naismith being the most realistic, unless we can pull out an epl loan player.

Surely there's only two options for the appeal: 1) Red card appeal successful 2) Red card appeal unsuccessful and Anthony Stokes retrospectively red carded .....

I've got a season ticket and I'm working before the hibs game, but don't know what time I'll be able to get finished. When's the latest time I'll be able to get in to the ground? As even if I miss kick off, I don't want to miss the game? Cheers.

Obviously very few positives to get out of today, but again I thought Hill and Miller were two of our best players. Not only that they're the two that put their foot in and made some really good, strong challenges. Realistically, we're not going to spend millions in bringing two or three new centre backs in so I think Hill deserves a 1 year extension with Miller. His experience, aerial ability and positioning is excellent and I think the squad is better with those two in it. I'd also happily see them both in a coaching/management set up in the future.

Would be happy with that. Like you, that's what I was thinking about Hyndman in there next to Toral. Would have two players capable of picking out passes and holding on to the ball better. And I agree about KM.

That would be my team too. Only other option would be Hyndman next to Toral and Miller playing just off Garner and dropping Holt. Feel we need to go with direct pacey attacking players on the wing like MacKay and Dodoo. Bates has done ok, but Hill's our best defender imo.

Thanks! That's a shocker. The keepers was just as bad. Though apparently according to some newspapers Garner was fortunate to avoid a red after incidents with Jack and then the Aberdeen goalkeeper..

Anybody got a replay of it? Looked like he just fell over to get a free kick with little or no contact from Holt. Nothing was made of it during the game - not a surprise with Walker commentating (if it had been Garner he'd have been called an embarrassment). There's countless replays being shown of the Garner incident. It wasn't the only time Holt got penalised for blatant dives against him too. There was another one just before that.

Both been really good this season and probably deserve an extension. Even if they're just squad players next year, they are both great professionals and can only benefit the squad and in particular younger players coming through.

Came to Arsenal from Barcelona's academy with Bellerin and was extremely highly rated. Done well for Brentford, Birmingham's player of the year in the Championship and played a few games in la Liga with Granada. Over 6 ft, only 21 and got a decent scoring record too. Looking forward to seeing him! For where we are right now, looks potentially a great signing.

Really surprised people aren't more excited about this signing tbh. Looks exactly what we need. And is a really good coup from MW to land him imo. Hopefully, we can get Rossiter back fit during the winter break too.

Some rubbish gets posted on here. Also how else should he have handled it? If he had let Barton get away with it, he'd have been slated on here too. He can't win at the moment. MW obviously feels Barton overstepped the mark and has punished him for it. Think our 'supporters' should get behind the manager and his team.

I don't like Barton and Rossiter both starting, think they're too similar. I'd play Barton dm for this one. Also feel we need a mobile, attacking midfielder in there, ones that's going to run with the ball and make runs in to the box. If Windass is fit enough I'd go with him, if not it's likely to be Forrester. For this game I'd probably go with Halliday as the third one, after his performance in the last old firm game and he'll be up for the battle. Then potentially bring on Niko in the second half when the game starts to open up a bit. Lots of tough decisions, and good players that won't start.
