  1. I first made contact with Tam on the Old Kinning Park web site about six years ago and then on the Rangers media forum.Tam loved his music and was into an English singer songwriter ,Tom Baxter. We both shared a passion for music and Tam got me tickets for the Tom Baxter gig in the Arches and we met in the Drum and Monkey in the city centre before the gig and had a few beers .He really was a big guy and we got on really well from our first meet onwards . Jacques was with him and you will not be surprised to hear that she was a beautiful looking woman. I attended a few gigs with Tam and Buggleskelly after this and Tam really had an ear for good music.Check out LA band Fitz and the Tantrums, another of Tams favourites who we saw in King Tuts. Buggleskelly tells a very funny story about this gig in the What Are You Listening To Now thread.Check it out. This is one of Tams favourite songs , hope you enjoy it big fellow.
  2. The reaction to Tam passing away has been quite overwhelming but also very heartwarming.Gers fans have surpassed themselves with their kind comments.I thought you might like to know a bit more about Tams photo. It was taken in The Old Toll Bar in PRW in September 2017,it was to be the last time that I would see Tam on a face to face basis. He phoned me to meet in the Grapes where we reminisced about our favourite subject...... childhood days living in Plantation over a few beers and we then headed on to the Viceroy He asked the young barmaid if he could pick up the £50 that he had left behind the bar after a Rangers game in 1978....the barmaid went along with it and said she would find it and post it out to him.....We then headed into the Old Toll Bar and that is where we had our last drinks together...... What you can't see in the photo are the young Irish lass and her young Polish pal........Tam had some great banter with them and they really lapped it up.....he was always winding folk up ......even if he hadn't met them before. It really is a sore one to lose the big man....taken far too young.
  3. So you knew that he nearly killed someone whist drink driving.? Not looking for a response mate.
  4. I worked with Jinky in the 1980s at Lafferty builders and found him to be a decent enough guy and he was always pleasant when I spoke with him. I got talking to Willie Henderson at NARSA in Vancouver and he told me he visited Jinky in his death bed. They were great friends.Jinky was a superb player, one of the best of his generation but like many others the demon drink got the better of him and badly affected his family.. I think Jinky was involved in a car crash when he was drunk and the other driver was seriously injured and it made the papers back then.It was ironic as he got the job of driving Frank Lafferty about as you've guessed it...Frank lost his DL for drink driving.I don't think that drink driving was viewed as seriously in the 1980s as it is now.It certainly didn't stop the celtic fans voting him as there greatest ever player and erecting a statue for him.I guess times and attitudes change over the years
  5. Got to know Tam very well on here and met up with him on many occasions to go to gigs and see the Rangers along with Buggleskelly He is a Plantation boy like myself and absolutely loves the Rangers His spat with Fury was epic on here. When I think of Tam he always brings a smile to my face. Its been a pleasure to know you big fellow.
  6. Kubler Ross would agree with your sentiments.
  7. For me as a wee boy in the 1960s it was Jimmy Johnstone. He was hated by the Rangers support in that era .As fate would have it I ended up working with him when he was a driver with Lafferty builders and I got to know him pretty well. ĺ told him how much I hated him in those days and he just laughed it off Tommy Gemmell was also much hated by Rangers fans back then and we even had a special chant for him. Can anyone remember what it was ?
  8. Hibs at one point in the season looked certainties for promotion through the play-offs but given they have several games to make up and face the prospect of six play-off games in two weeks at the end of what has been a very tiring season for them. When you also consider that they are in free fall and could well meet an in form Raith Rovers before the prospect of taking on a very good Falkirk side and that's without even think king about taking on a well rested premier side..Their prospects of promotion don't look good. You could see them struggling next season as well with the likelihood that John McGinn will go and possibly Cummings with Stokes and Henderson back to the tarriers. It' will be very fitting if they get to slug it out with their Dundee counterparts next season considering the parts they both played in sticking the knife into us four years ago.
  9. There will be no Rangers players left to hate soon.
  10. He can't say we anymore because nearly everyone on this forum has disowned him mate.
  11. Perhaps if Ally had time to reflect on some of the decisions he made he would admit that he would have acted differently He was way out of his depth as Rangers manager but his ego would probably have got in the way of self awareness. He is like the rest of us in that he is a human being and does not always make the right decisions. I would like to think that fans will forgive him in the fullness of time.Souness was also hated by many fans when he left to go back to Liverpool but I believe that most fans are supportive of him now, and time can be a great healer. When we win our next title maybe some fans will be more forgiving of him, then again judging by some comments on here, maybe not. He should not be a part of the team celebrations but I hope he has a private celebration with family and friends. In my opinion Ally still loves Rangers.
  12. Ally Mcoist was a poor football manager but he was a great leader in our time of crisis. We needed someone when we were all traumatised by events and Ally stood up for our club and helped to galvanise the fans as best as he possibly could have.I think he was instrumental in refusing to give up our titles and we should be eternally gratefully for that alone. He may have made the wrong choices at the end of his tenure but when you compare what he did for the club as a player and as a leader in time of crisis then in my opinion he will always be a legend in my eyes. He gave me some of the greatest moments and experiences I'm my time following Rangers. If you choose to continue to hate Ally after all he has contributed to the club then the that is your right as a fan. He will always be a legend in my eyes.
  13. Dave Smith at an icebound Celtic park.He was immense that day as everyone else around him could not keep their feet.Read the game superbly.A truly skillful player.
  14. His colleague Anthony Haggerty did a piece in Fridays edition stating "the infamous helicopter sunday".Guess it's a matter of perspective and what team you follow whether one thing is famous or infamous.
  15. Played against Andy Gray in schools football when I was at Kinning Park secondary school and played with Bobby Shearer for Lafferty builders against St Mungos FP at their open day .Played up front with Jimmy Johnstone in that game and we won 2-0 with Jinky scoring one and me the other,
  16. No ...im that as well.................at least we have established that you don't give a fuck about a lot of things , your disrespectful and you know fuck all about football given your abject response to my question............ I think we can let this go now....have a good night mate whoever you may be......oh aye.....remember the deep breaths..........
  17. .....and getting aggressive.....which is not a nice way to speak to a fellow bear. Perhaps you could try to explain to me why you think McGinns lunging tackle is not a red card and why you think that Jack McGinn is not his granda. Im all ears.........
  18. You were doing so well there............. and now youve went all delusional on me.
  19. Thats better mate ........big deep breaths..........you soon will give a fuck again .....I promise.
