  1. This seems way over the top to me. Wasting police and court time!
  2. I was 10 when I first truly understood what our armed forces did for me and they have continued to earn my respect and gratitude ever since. I attended Battle of Britain day at Bellahouston Park in 1965 - it opened my eyes meeting some of the veterans that day and ever since I have understood the importance of honouring our forces both in remembrance and in respecting day to day those who continue to serve. Saturday is all about showing that regard for those who currently serve and soon we can remember those who sacrificed so much be that in the skies over Kent in 1940 through Singapore, the Malay jungle, Aden, Northern Ireland, The Falklands right through to Afghanistan and so many other spots the World over. Let's do that with pride and respect and without any petty arguments!
  3. I will aim to go to that. One of my favourite Lodges as well. If I can I'll bring a few down from my own Lodge. Thanks for that info!
  4. I keep trying to get to one of your nights. So far no luck but I for one applaud you for everything you do and I really look forward to hearing you present hopefully at one of your visits to a Masonic Lodge.
  5. Reminds me of the days when all the wives of Ce+*€c fans loved Jim Baxter for the way he got their husbands home early - they were usually home just after half time!
  6. Done - please all get in there and do this. Fingers crossed this worthy cause wins it out of the park!
  7. A personal decision on this I think. I spoke to a guy before the game today who works in the City and he basically said - there isn't a lot of wisdom in investing but equally - as a fan - he confirmed he is doing it himself. I got my paperwork today also and I've already filled it in. I'm proud to have shares in Rangers but I did donate most of mine to Rangers First. I think they collectively can empower their members in a way no single small shareholder could otherwise be. I'm planning to donate a few more pounds to make sure they can take up the option on the donated shares. Through thick and thin - I will stick with my Club!
  8. Well done on that research - I confess to being quite surprised at Murphy's apparently reasonable and objective position. On the matter of sectarianism your facts match very well with the stories an old uncle of mine used to talk about. He also poke about how The King visited Ibrox and how Rangers became the focus of patriotism and indeed how Mr Struth adopted these tenets. I am too young (how rarely I can say that) to remember the days of the bowler hats but I do know and remember how our players had to dress in collar and tie at all times when representing our Club. It was on a footing of respect, discipline and loyalty that Rangers were forged into the greatest team in the country. Struth of course also developed the links with the establishment club in England - Arsenal. Neither Club was remotely sectarian but rather patriotic and loyal. The guys at Founders Trail have unearthed some fantastic stuff about our proud and loyal history. I was always told to be proud that I was a Rangers fan - I always will be and every Rangers fan should feel that way.
  9. No way they can do anything about it - SNP have paid for ads at lots of grounds so.....
  10. Two of the greatest players that I ever saw in a Rangers jersey. Two of the greates players not just in Great Britain or indeed Europe but in fact in World football. Two very different players but sparkling talents each in his own way. I could give you hugely compelling arguments for both. Both were just a joy to watch. Baxter perhaps the silkier player - the man who never seemed to need effort to outplay his opponents. A marvellous player in a great Rangers team which slipped a little when he left. Gascoigne - the same. Jim Baxter was a new thing in football when he burst on the scene. He emerged well before George Best as the playboy of football and his record in big matches was unbelievable. Baxter totally dominated the domestic game in Scotland and his International record was also amazing. If the bheggars were the biggest club opponents he regularly put them to the sword and often tormented them. At International level his record against Englan was simply incredible - 2 goals past Gordon Banks on his England debut, that keepy uppie in 67 - they must have hated his being. Paul Gascoigne - daft as a brush but exquisite talent and enthusiasm. Gazza sparkled in another fantastic Rangers side and along with sublime talent he could (and so often did) burst past defenders as he carried the ball 50/60/70 yards before slotting it home so casually. Gazza scored so many goals from midfield and rarely did he score an ordinary goal. Who knows what he might have done for England in Italian 90 were it not for the booking - they might just have gone all the way. Pick between them - not today I can't. Sometimes it is Slim Jim sometimes Gazza but there are other candidates too of course! Over the piece - I'm one of a lucky generation who saw them both and nobody can ever take that away. They both took great pleasure in beating the big opponents and they both achieved it so often.
  11. BBC Scotland are frankly unbelievable - see below! 1 - sent to BBC today - Thank you xxxx for your prompt if entirely predictable reply. Your response does not satisfy me – it does not answer most of my points. To reiterate: the story need not have mentioned Rangers at all the association with Rangers is mischievous and a sign of the ongoing bias at BBC my complaint was about BBC Scotlan generally – not just the sports department you state your automatic systems caused the appearance on the Rangers pages and that it was remedied – has a long term fix been put in place? your colleagues in news have been careless and incompetent at best and disingenuous at worst – I suspect the latter In summary – your casual apology doesn’t deal with the real issue so I must ask you to take my complaint to the next level please? Thanks 2. received from BBC today - On 21/08/2014 09:37<bbc.co.uk> wrote: Dear Mr xxxx, Thank you for your email highlighting that a story about a women’s death appeared on our Rangers football club index. I can assure you that the positioning of this report was not intended to be venomous, have a dig at Rangers or be biased in any way. Let me explain how it happened. Our Rangers page is an automatic index. That means stories are assigned to subjects, such as Rangers FC, and then automatically appear on the page, rather than being placed there by a journalist. In this case, colleagues in news have incorrectly assigned it to Rangers football club. We would not want such news stories on our Rangers page. Since your email arrived, the story has been de-assigned from Rangers, removing it from that index. I hope I made that technical explanation clear enough and I apologise for any offence caused. Regards BBC Sport Sent via xxxx BBC Sport Broadcast Assistant 3. received from BBC yesterday - From: Audience Services [mailto:bbcaudienceservices@capita.co.uk] Sent: 20 August 2014 21:44 To: Sport Interactive Subject: Complaint - Reply Required BBC Scotland on the website today under the Sport/Football/Rangers section have a story (now taken down) "Rangers fan who killed woman in hit and run after match is jailed". Two issues - this was a complex case where guilt was in doubt but the football supporting habits of the driver are utterly irrelevant and what on earth was it on the Football/Rangers page for! I submit it is another example of anti-Rangers venom from Pacific Quay! I've never seen a story about a court case with the heading Tesco Clubcard holder..... or Fan of Emerdale...... Why then other than another dig or jibe at rangers was this written in this fashion!? If it were appropriate why has it now been taken down? Please refer to various previous examples of anti-Rangers stuff - e.g. CAS-2814843-FYVNCV, CAS2814149-OVOK3Z, 1300345, CAS-22299034-@BWGNN, CAS-2298129-NQT9BJ, CAS-1701868-QT96NB, 1200482 and CAS-1700243-Z7NNYT I'm sure this will be an error and a trite apology will be issued - this just can't go on - how many "errors" can these people claim and get away with?? maybe this time it'll be claimed as relevant because the guy was on the way home from a match - that of course is irrelevant he could have been going home from a knitting class and I'm sure that wouldn't have been reported NOR importantly would it have been on a knitting page! I wonder when someone outside Pacific Quay will cotton on to this dreadful and hateful attitude at BBC Scotland and conform the ongoing bias? BBC Online URL: Audience member: Mr xxxxx , , Scotland,
  12. God knows when this will stop! I've written to them again and I will again follow it through to the bitter end. I am pursuing them over serial anti-Rangers bias. They have "apologised" about various incidents and I'm asking them what is an acceptable number of errors on one topic (Rangers) and when do they start to become ongoing bias! I've told them if it is errors it is time they sacked some of the incompetent perpetrators - and if not then somebody senior - maybe I Small needs to carry the can - hopefully right out the door!
  13. I know I'm an old bugger that has been around a long time but I just don't get this fear of giving young guys a game. My memory may be adrift but: * Willie Henderson made his debut in 1960 aged 16. He ultimately replace Alex Scott a full international we sold to Everton for a good fee. * Willie Johnston broke into the team at 18 again replacing an International player. * Sandy Jardine made his debut at 18 and went on to have a marvellous career I could list many other examples of young players given a chance in a team fighting in the top league and featuring in Europe as well. Durrant, Derek & Barry Ferguson more recently but Derek Johnstone and Parlane in the 70's together with Bobby Russell at 20 who came straight into the first team from Junior football. Over the years it was common practice but we seem scared now. give Murdoch and Gasporotto game time and let's find out - otherwise we will never know!
  14. Was Chris Robertson the older brother of John Robertson?
  15. It is for all of us who care to make sure that doesn't happen. We have to keep saying our piece and keep banging the drum. For me we have to be in it to win - no boycotts or protests just keep grinding away and getting the message across. We can do it!
