  1. During the war years we won the Scottish Regional League Western Division once, and the Southern League Division A six times. These are not Scottish league title and never will be. All of the big/important/decent clubs were involved in the same league as Rangers for most of those seasons so it was the Scottish Premier League (Division A) in all but name.
  2. It has already been touched upon but the reason WWII titles aren't included is because football ceased at the outbreak of WWII. In an effort to aid public morale it then continued with crowd restrictions in place but even then it wasn't long until big crowds turned up again. "Official" or not, all seven war time titles were won by Rangers and they were still competitive matches and trophies which add to the haul. So we are technically going for number 60 this season and have achieved nine in a row twice. Interestingly, our reserve side played in the North Eastern league while the first team played in the Southern League. The reserves managed to win the NE league, and should have won it twice but for some silly rules, so Rangers were champions of both leagues for a season.
  3. No, no, no! He didn't lay the foundations for Rangers. What people would refer to as the Rangers way was started by four young lads then continued by William Wilton and Bill Struth. The important factor in Struth's time in charge is that he coupled incredible success with the club's high status, which Wilton didn't manage to do to the same degree. Some dont agree, but our history is what has made us great. Absolutely and it is second to none. It can be frustrating at times. A number of years ago so few Rangers fans knew who Bill Struth was, never mind his record or why the trophy count is only half of his Rangers story. But without William Wilton there would have been no Struth at Rangers and without the founders and their attitude and efforts there would have been no Wilton at Rangers.

  5. Hartley was exactly the same last season. Knowing Ferguson was carrying an injury, Hartley tackled him at Parkhead to try and take him out of the game. The Ewok's first tackle yesterday was sickening. It was almost refreshing that it ended with a booking early on because an elbow smash at one of the games at the Piggery after kick off ended with only a warning. And to think we nearly signed this guy.
  6. Nice photo. I visted Moses McNeil's last home in Rhu a couple of years ago and took a walk up to the cemetery where he's buried. The people living in the house only became aware of its historical significance relatively recently and there's an old lady that lives nearby who remember Moses McNeil from when she was a young lass.
  7. It gets tricky around the 1880s because football was becoming more popular but there was no organised league. Also, Rangers was in a shambles so there was no consistency of line up.

  9. Good to see. The unfortunate part is that we then can't be quite so good against the bottom six. The most interesting part is that Dundee United are second! If Levein could get them playing against the 'lesser' sides they could be doing incredibly well.
  10. In what was has any of this shown hysteria or a lack of support for the team?
  11. So why can't we be run successfully and within our means? A caller on Radio Scotland earlier (possible Fraser Martin from the RST, I forget now) mentioned that our wage bill is close to being half that of Celtic's. While that doesn't necessarily bring success, the question must be asked how they can be run without a massive debt but we can't, despite millions less being spent in wages. Where is the money going? Why can't the people at Rangers come up with a plan to run a successful football club within budget? After all, that's what they are paid to do. The steel for the Club Deck was purchased a decade and a half ago. We were making money then and the argument is irrelevant to the current situation.
  12. I know of a guy targeted by the vermin because he appeared for 20 seconds in a programme about the Orange Order. They found out his name, his address and the location of his privately owned business, and set out to cause him as much hassle as possible. There's a very good reason for internet anonimity.
  13. The money spent isn't Murray's money. It's the club's money. Why should it be impossible for us to be run within our budget? Plenty of clubs manage it. Celtic are pissing all over us on and off the field in recent years yet they're subject to the same economic downturn and small time SPL as we are.
  14. In 1989 if someone had asked you who the sole owner of Ranges would be by the end of the year, would you have said David Murray? I doubt it, because you wouldn't have known who he was. If he can't sell just now, he should at least step aside as Chairman and allow someone with the ambition and will to change things take over the running of the club.
  15. That's one of the worst articles I've ever read in a supposedly quality paper. To try and ignore perfectly valid points because of a username someone has chosen is laughable.
