  1. Couple more images for the history buffs amongst us.
  2. We'd abandoned it at the time to prepare ourselves to cause The Wall Street Crash of 1929
  3. Bit of history on Alex Craig - played for Rangers, Greenock Morton and Ireland. He was born in Galway in 1886, and had two spells at our club (144 appeaances) but never won a medal
  4. A quick trawl through online dictionaries provides a variety of similar and succinct definitions for “Lifeblood”. “a vital or life-giving force or component” “the indispensable factor or influence that gives something its strength and vitality” “the thing that is most important to the continuing success and existence of something else” RSC’s are not comprised of people who view themselves as “uber fans”, who consider themselves better or more deserving than others, they are just a group of bears who, most probably for geographical reasons, have aligned themselves together with the common purpose of following and supporting the club we love. They have evolved significantly since the days of their forerunner – the brake club, a name given honouring the mode of transport. A brake was large horse drawn carriage which could transport 20-30 people and brake clubs often had their own distinct banner in much the same way our modern RSC’s have their distinct logos. What a sight to behold that must have been! With the development of both motorised transport and the railways the days of the brake as a form of transport were numbered, but not so the recognised value of Rangers fans uniting together with the common purpose of following and supporting the club they loved. The modern-day RSC is a vital component part of the Rangers community with many more far reaching benefits than just transport. It serves to bring together like minded Rangers supporters who otherwise would have been strangers. I have in my phone 23 names which would not had been there had I not joined my local RSC. These are guys I speak with, rip the piss out of (always reciprocated) and socialise with on an almost daily basis. Our local RSC is effectively networking, bringing together people with a shared mission and vision. Collectively it serves to ignite the flames of passion for our football club. It is vital, it is strength giving and it is indispensable. Networking with other RSC’s is a further benefit, and on several occasions now we have enjoyed the hospitality of our friends in the Toryglen True Blues. Their passion and desire for our club is epitomised on the Rangers website “Buses leave 20 Social Club, Rutherglen for every Rangers game in Scotland and to every away European game that is reachable by bus” One can almost feel the “come hell or high water” oozing out of that! For a club which draws its support from all over Scotland and beyond the local RSC serves as the focal point for the Rangers diaspora, and one only has to look at the incredible work and achievements of the Plymouth True Blues, @ThePTBs1988 for those on twitter, as a shining example. Of course, irrespective of the many collateral benefits of an RSC, transport to and from games remain their primary function. The local Rangers Supporter Bus provides not only an essential service, but also by their character and nature, an indispensable service. They bridge the gap in the lack of provision afforded by public transport. With their localised pick ups and unique dropping off points they can make the difference between success and failure in our desire to follow Rangers, particularly for those who find themselves less able these days. In short, they offer affordability and accessibility. It is probably no co-incidence that the largest RSC in the world is in the far-flung regions of Lewis & Harris. As an RSC member I consider myself no better nor deserving than the bear who jumps in his or her car and makes the solitary journey to watch our beloved team. Having done that for many a year myself, I have the utmost respect for them. But having joined my local RSC, the energy, vitality and sense of belonging it provides is a drug of addiction I couldn’t be without. Our RSC’s are our lifeblood in so many ways – let’s make sure we sustain them.
  5. Dreadful news, wishing him all the best for the fight ahead
  6. My pleasure GB I along with many others have been members of this fund for some time now. Our donations make such a big difference to the lives of many, as can be attested to by the examples given along with the joyous expressions on so many faces. I would urge all members to consider joining & making a donation, no matter how small as this is such a worthwhile cause.
  7. So Dude, Still awating that link to the Record article condemning Rodger's comments. Unless of course, despite your assertion that there was widespread media condemnation, the Daily Record was one publication that failed to do so.
  8. Why should they ? Perhaps they are more comfortable carrying out their work without fanfare or trumpets, Ive already given you a signpost to the kind of work they are involved in. Here's another from today..
  9. Why would it be odd - only a few posts back you were telling us it was widely condemned in the media. PS still waiting for the link to the Record condemnation article.
  10. You continue to miss the point Dude. Not one person from Rangers, speaking on behalf of the club, sought to minimise or justify such action by suggesting that the player's conduct was the catalyst to it. There is only one catalyst to racial abuse - the ethnicity/skin colour of the victim.
  11. Widely condemened ? Show Racism the Red Card Scotland had to be prompted into action whilst the only journo Ive seen condemn it on twitter is Ewen Murray from the Guardian. He also went onto state his timeline was depressingly full of persons seeking to either justify, minimise it with posts which continuing the depressive theme - look very familiar with some of the stuff which is posted on here. Spiers & Tom English so often the moral crusaders of the press pack have suddenly lost their tongues. Please feel free to post a link to the pubication you work for condemning his comments, as in keeping with the boycott - Ive not read them I dont normally indulge in fan behaviour whataboutery - sets of fans jousting for the moral high horse position is to me, akin to the crowd wishing to stone a young lady who are then challenged "Let him without sin cast the first stone" But this situation is entirely different and dangerously regressive. This involves an official spokesperson from a club seeking to minimise racial conduct allegations by firsty citing an engineered internet poll followed up by an assertion that the player's conduct contributed to it. Should we change the mantra to "Show Racism the Red Card (Unless theyre ask for it)" ?
  12. Remind me when did Rangers or a spokesperson, on behalf of the club, seek to justify or minimise the racial abuse of an opposition player ?
  13. Well, I cant comment on your opening line as I dont have the access to the abuse scaleometer which you clearly have at your disposal. But to clarify something which you appear to have missed... Logan doesnt get abused - he gets RACIALLY abused. You appear to be agreeing with Rodger's horrendous notion - to paraphrase in your words - being a wank means you are fair game to be racially abused.
  14. Personally, from a writing sense Graeme - I disagree with that. I dont necessarily believe "more is better" - my rough draft for any article always starts with the basic 5 paragraph essay format and although I dont stick to that religiously - its always my default starting point. I know I would struggle to include all types of content you refer to - particularly embedded video. I feel a well researched, well documented, well written article requires little to supplement it. Having done various writing courses & freelance journalism - which focussed solely on style & brevity - I feel I would be "selling my soul" so to speak.
  15. Im not surprised if you place a self-imposed ban on yourself from reading their articles. Perhaps were you to contact the likes of Twaddell and Woodvale Residents Association in Belfast you would alter your opinion. Just because someone doesnt shout from every roof top nor seek publicity for good work - doesnt mean to say they are not active.
  16. "May all who look upon the old club with a friendly eye stand prepared, by precept and example, to protect its interests and its good name" I'd say highlighting the utter hypocrisy of a football club & and their fans, who constantly attempt to besmirch our club with lies & accusations - fulfils that brief.
  17. You think ? I would suggest otherwise - if the standard defence is that someone brings it upon himself - what hope is there for young lassies on a night out who dare to wear a mini skirt and suffer unwelcome male advances. Is she asking for it ? Furthermore it highlights the considerable double standard celtic are operating to - given the conduct of the likes of Lennon (at both celtic & Hibs) Boruc and more recently Griffiths. The majority of gesture behaviour involving the aforementioned occurs when facing Rangers and has always been the source of considerable debate on here. celtic are atempting to minimise racial conduct by (1) Suggesting a player's own conduct or behaviour was the catalyst to it (2) While offering such a tawdry defence - ignoring the fact their own players regularly involved themselves in similar conduct particularly against Rangers. To be honest, partisan feelings aside, its an absolutely unedifying & scandalous line of defence, I only wish Id read such scathing criticism of it in the MSM rather than from a Rangers fan site blog.
  18. Sorry that has not screenshotted very well because it included a link to the OO statement. The bottom of my tweet had Including you@John Hannah given his outburst the other day.
