NixonRFC got a reaction from The No.9 in Cantwell
A bit too over-reliant on set pieces and crosses is a very polite understatement mate, our play is archaic at times, long diagonals, crosses, play for fouls/corners,
I get that's where we were getting joy against them and sometimes you just need to acclimatise to a certain environment when the time calls for it but I'm looking for us to do a lot more in possession in terms of hurting them.
Our game was all about containing and stopping them, when we had the ball we created very little outwith set pieces, that needs to improve quickly, I doubt it will before the summer so I'll not be overly critical if we do the same thing at Hampden but moving forward we need to show our desire and determination to dominate a game against them again.

NixonRFC reacted to SonicWill in Ross Wilson Joins Nottingham Forest - Confirmed
Nope, it's imperative in modern football - particularly for a club like us who don't have huge amounts of money.
With managers in football staying in jobs for shorter periods of time than years gone by, we can't afford to chop and change players solely based upon a new manager's tactical preferences and desires.
Done properly, a DOF ensures that the team has a coherent tactical approach and philosophy that spans beyond the reign of one manager and ensures that when a new coach takes over the players there will generally be suitable to his needs. Obviously a manager may have individual targets and the club can choose to pursue these if they fit the team's overall philosophy.
Football has changed and there's a reason basically every top club operates like this.

NixonRFC got a reaction from graeme_4 in Kevin Clancy
As much as I don't trust Clancy, I think it was one of those ones where there wasn't enough in it either way for VAR to suggest there was an error.
If the ref gives the foul there's just about enough in it that VAR can't say that's a clear and obvious error and if he gives the goal then there's not enough in it for VAR to say I think that might be a foul, so you're just at the mercy of the on field ref's decision.
Think it was a bit like Morelos goal in the cup final, another ref would've gave a foul against him and VAR wouldn't have overturned it but Walsh didn't think there was enough in it for a foul and VAR couldn't disagree.
That being said, I'm all for putting as much pressure on the SFA as possible with this semi final coming up.

NixonRFC got a reaction from SeparateEntityMyArse in Souttar
Davies is 100% to blame for the goal, no matter Souttar's movement or lack of it was all on Davies, to nit pick like that just takes away from the real issue, Ben Davies flaws.
With that logic we should blame Tav for Souttar's shite back pass too as when Ryan Jack plays it to him he automatically distances himself from Jota in anticipation of getting the ball off McGregor.
Sometimes it's OK just to call it as it is, no need shift or share the blame, Davies was solely to blame for the second goal, same as Souttar was solely to blame for the third.

NixonRFC got a reaction from googglebot in Europe 23/24
The Europa League is our level and I think winning games regularly in that competition helps us maintain our form in the League, getting spanked in the Champions League does nothing for us as a club, it demoralises the players and the fans.
The money is a factor though, we can't be letting the tims get double the European money than us just by being in a different competition, it's not just the prize money, the TV share and the 10yr coefficient is also huge and that would all go to them if we don't make it.

Seen it far too many times on here this morning and yesterday. Acceptance of mediocrity.
Morelos had a good game, apart from fluffing his chance to score.
Cantwell had a good game, apart from not creating anything.
The CBs had a good game, apart from costing us 2 if not 3 goals with shite defending.
Cunts even defending Kent and Tillman’s gutless performances.
Beale better have the baws and the funds to rip this squad to bits in the summer.

My mate lost the plot with someone today in the boozer when they said Souttar and Davies had a good game apart from the goals they cost us.
"Apart from the goals they cost us", fuck me man how low is the bar if costing the most basic of goals that cost you the game doesn't automatically mean you've had a shocker.
What I will say though is if Souttar is going to be a success here, he has to show he can overcome this kind of adversity.

Just seen it confirmed that Hatate is definitely out for them, he's their best player, always seems to hurt us, I'm quietly confident now, we'll have our strongest midfield while they'll have a weaker than normal midfield 3.

And that's wrong too, you don't level things up by taking away half the accessibility, you level it up by making it available to everyone.

NixonRFC got a reaction from Moody Blue Legend in Gazza Visiting Ibrox
McNee was such a prick, called Gazza number 8 and called Larsson number 7, as much as I hated larsson playing for them he was pretty vanilla in terms of personality, McNee just loved annoying fans, he always wanted to be the talking point.
Glad Gazza got it up him against Aberdeen

Wonder what the occasion was, you'd think if it was a club invite they'd do it over the weekend to get him up for the game.

NixonRFC got a reaction from MurrayWilson in 2024 Euro Qualifiers
I was only young that night at Hampden in the Scottish Cup, think I'm still drying out from it, wettest game I've ever been to, everything since is held against that to pass the test if it's too wet or not. 😄

Are you maybe thinking about the France game in 1989? Beat them 2-0 and Mo Johnston scored two that night too.

NixonRFC got a reaction from J-Maestro in SoccerAM to be cancelled at the end of the season
Between 97-02 was the glory years, the attitude and personality wasn't unique for the time but it fit in perfectly with the whole Brit Pop scene in the 90s and managed to carry that on for a few years after the Millennium.
I've no idea the last time I watched it, must be about 15 years, after Lovejoy left it just felt completely different, guess who it appealed to in it's pomp all just got old, Tim Lovejoy is probably the proof in that pudding, a loud cocky and cheeky guy to a now reserved host of a Sunday morning show aimed at housewives.
