It absolutely was a clear and obvious handball incident that the referee missed, and the VAR has failed him and failed Rangers. Yes, the offside would then have been found, but for the referee to not be called to the screen to check the handball while offside checks were being carried out is scandalous. 
They've circled the wagons big time instead of looking inwards to try and ascertain why the incident was missed, and turned the blame onto the party who was wronged. 
It's petty, cynical and It's corruption in plain sight.
