  1. If you look at the vast majority of Le Guen's signings - Sionko, N'Diaye, Sebo, Svensson, after their brief flirtation with a big club such as Rangers they have returned to the anonimity of their home lands. These players were not good enough for Rangers and similarily Le Guen was not good enough for Rangers. He hit a hot streak with Lyon. Since he has left Rangers he has failed at every club he has been at, most spectacularly in the last World Cup where he was described as tactically naive by people who knew the game. Le Guen was ill prepared, was unable to adapt tactically to the Scottish game and incapable of succeeeiding at Rangers. He was an unmitigated disaster and Murray was right to sever ties before he cost us more. In comparison to Smith, Le Guen is nothing. He can only dream of the success that Smith has had as a manager. It's all very well looking back with rose tinted specs on now. In the years since he left we have had Manchester, two league triumphs and cup success. We would not have had this under Le Guen. He tried to play a brand of football in Scotland which could not work with the players he signed. And before anyone says that he did well in Europe. He was marginally succesful and Rangers play in Scotland and first and foremost we have to win in Scotland.
  2. At least the Rangers staff showed dignity and class after the game unlike that wee rhat. They couldn't even send him out to speak after the game in case he said something he shouldn't.
  3. Are the tims the only team in world football to benefit from scoring from an indirect free kick awarded under this rule? I remember it was a European game but can't remember who against. I've never seen another team beneift from this rule. On a side issue I often think Alexander pushes this to the limit a bit with how long he holds the ball for.
  4. I've read his book. To be honest I can't really remember any talk of us being bigots. I remember a bit about the old Firm game after which he was prosecuted where he said it was a disgrace that he was being prosecuted for what happened on a football park. I don't recall him saying we were bigots just said it was a disgrace that he was prosecuted and it could only happen in a city where there was a cauldron of bigotry which is fair enough IMO. What I do remember from the book is that the guy has done a hell of a lot of drinking and appeared to spend half his acreer wasted and also that he taught himself to be two footed when he fractured his left foot one summer and spent his days kicking a ball of the wal with his right proving in his words "that all professional footballers if they show dedication can teach themselves to be two footed" (which is a lesson a certain J.Ness of Rangers could do with taking from that book. Maybe I'm mistaken it was about 2005/06 when I read it.
  5. It's an absolute joke that our game is on Monday preventing a midweek fixture. I'm sure ours and Celtic's ties could have been swapped round for TV with us on ESPN and the beggars on terrestrial on Monday. I presume ESPN pay bigger money anyway and our game is clearly better than Celtic -v- Berwick Rangers. Our game on ESPN would get tims tuning in watching and hoping for us to lose and the tims game on the Monday would allow their fans that couldn't get in to see the game. Celtic will now play midweek and go three games ahead of us in matches played. The fixture secretary here must either be exceptionally stupid or have an ulterior motive. Given that I don''t have a chip on my shoulder i'll go with the former.
  6. Will the 700K which is being banded about plus Webster not be enough to get Goodwillie to Ibrox. Particularly seeing as the boy's a bear and will most likely pull the old "I'm not playing any more til you let me go" stance. Only thing worrying me is - Is this boy another Riorden seeing as he's been in the cells already? We don't need that. Good player though.
  7. Based on Sunday the sooner the better. Was trying to google different articles online for a return date but can't see anything since November when the Old Firm was a possibility. Obviously we don't want him rushed back but the guy looked different class in the games he played before injury.
  8. I don't know if you're looking for a bite or not but you really have no idea do you? Titles aren't a barometer on coaching expertise? Success is the barometere of anything. Smith has beaten Celtic these last two years despite having a far smaller budget than them. Arsenal are widely considred the best footballing team in England. Manchester United beat them on Monday and will most probably go on and win the title. Who's has the more coaching expertise there? - Wenger or Ferguson. Ferguson's team plays poorer football yet wins. I know who's got the most coaching expertise in my eyes. You enter competitions to win. You play sport to win. You win by any means necessary - if you want entertained go to the circus. Embarrassed in a European Final? I was at the game. Were you? I seriously doubt it. We were beaten two nil with a second goal coming in the dying minutes. Minutes prior to that Novo and Ferguson passed up excellent chances to equalise. Aye but that's right - we were hammered and our run to the final against teams with far bigger budgets were an absolute embarrassment as well. In fact i'm so ashamed of my club I might go and tear up my season ticket now.
  9. 1. Peter Lovenkrands 2. Majid Bougherra 3. Wayne Rooney
  10. Why are we playing at home on a Sunday anyway? For TV? When I signed up for the continuous credit card scheme I was under the impression that the games were Saturdays 3pm unless its an old firm. I play Sunday League and it shuts down for Old Firms. The SFA can shove their cup up their arse if they're going to put games on at stupid times.
  11. Been away from Rangersmedia for a wee while and then come back to be hit with the most homoerotic thread ever. Sort yourselves out lads.
  12. I worry about whittaker's inability to cross although he is the Scottish messi so I'll let him off
  13. Thought thomson was the best player on the park yesterday. Only player who consistently wanted the ball and looked to make things happen cfair play to him because I've been his biggest critic in recent times
  14. I agree with JimBeam up to the crucifying of Walter Smith. At the time, I enjoyed the spending, the players we were able to bring in. He took a gamble and it didn't pay off but I enjoyed the ride. I don't agree with lambasting the guy for chasing the dream and I doubt at the time D'Art would have either. Noone could have predicted the financial situation and recession we face today. You look at clubs like Man Utd who are in ten times the debt we are. It's very easy to criticise given the benefit of hindsight. What if we'd managed to win the Champions League in the late 90s. Sky invite us to England and we're sitting pretty at the top of the Premiership today while Timmy are out of business having been left stuck in the SPL. I won't lend my voice to the angry mob as the guy stumped up a lot of his own money to help the club. Many will say his motives were only for himself but I don't believe he hasn't put in more than he's made from Rangers.
