No complaints about his off field contribution at that point of time , but no way does getting promoted from the arse end of scottish football with the resources available make amends for some of the shambolic stuff we witnessed on the pitch .

Great first time ball in that causes problems for defenders and invites strikers to attack it , then he reverts to his habit of stopping a moving ball before playing that high looping cross that rarely works , if he even gets it past the first man . Doing my tits in now with this .

Thought Billam-Smith fought a really clever fight there by the way he always brought the holding to the refs attention . Credit to the ref as well for taking the points when we've watched others giving a lot of leeway because it's a title fight .

True with the benefit of hindsight ! When they decided to bail out though , no one could be certain of that . At the time the likeliest scenario was us dropping a division and having points deducted , only later did the eventual outcome emerge .
I've no problem with the players deciding to look after No.1 but save us the guff that they were pushed into it , not once have either of them spoke of regret or gave an apology for some of their actions .
Only difference between those two and Naismith & Whittaker is a press conference .

Absolutely no need to have all three of them on the bench when playing Ross County the other week , I get that young players have to earn the squad place but never going to be convinced that they can't get minutes in home games like these .

Bobby Watson was the third choice goalkeeper in the squad , after Peter McCloy & Gerry Neef . Signed from junior football and played a couple of first team friendlies and one League Cup match , but never featured again after playing in a Glasgow Cup Final loss to celtic .

That was the set up until Souness arrived in 1986 and insisted the players had fresh training gear for every session . Before then , the players used the one set of kit all week , it being hung up to dry overnight . This picture shows Davie Cooper & John Greig training at the Albion in 1977 wearing the old kit from the 60's .

Strange one for me , The old "Rangers da" in me thinks that winning the Scottish Cup while a good way to end the season , doesn't make up for a disappointing title defence and an abject display in the League Cup semi , not to mention the capitulation to a 10 man Malmo .
On the other hand , The Euro nights have given me some of the best nights and memories that will live with me forever . The buzz between the Leipzig game and last Wednesday night has been unreal , just unfortunate that too many of the squad never reached the level of performance that was a feature of the run , because the Rangers that turned over Dortmund , Red star & Braga would have brought the trophy back .
All in all though I think history will probably look back at this season favourably .

Is that basically what we are looking at being the starting 11? Is Jack fit?
Barring any injuries that we don't know about , I think that will be how we start . Gio has shown us that he's prepared to change formations during the game when it's needed (Dortmund away for example ) and the players seem quite comfortable with that approach as well . If Roofe is fit enough for the bench that will be an added bonus .
Feel a lot more relaxed about this match compared to how I was for the Semi-Final but will no doubt get a different feeling as the hours tick down to kick off .

The domestic scene in Scotland is probably at it's healthiest for a few years with a decent amount of good matchups being made , although not too many of them will be troubling any of the top class boxers any time soon .
