  1. yes Souness did it, and we got a hefty fine for doing it!
  2. watching these memorable highlights of Jimmy truly a great Ranger ,I was reminded of another (not a striker) but big Sammy, another great.
  3. Zelalem's problem is he has a football brain, to say he hides is total rubbish. he passes the ball and moves to receive a return ball which never comes, players too greedy trying to score impossible goals. Law runs about like a headless chicken ,Miller as well,. getting in the road of players in their own positions, Zelalem will be playing for Arsenal in a couple of years time against the top teams in Europe, where will Law Miller etc be? All great teams are built from the back, like a triangle, we are like an upside down triangle! this is why teams like Morton and livvie can compete,
  4. I was thinking about Millars contract having the Jig clause, playing if fit, too old and getting in the way. Zel is a good player, trouble is he is a move ahead of the rest, how many times in every game have you shouted "shoot". this trying to walk the ball into the net plays into the hands of the opposition and makes their job easier, we could easily have ten plus chances from 18-20 yds so what if we get deflections, they all count. that's why I can't watch Barca, all this tip-tap nonsense every game gets annoying, as for the defence! they play into the opposition's hands every game, still can't believe livvi got a point against us, next two games will let us know if we are ready to go up or perhaps the next round of the Scottish cup. Time for King to put up or shut up. Ashley is making him look toothless.
  5. number of shares wasn't the issue, but the fact that his deceased wife was rc , the man was in tears when he left that night, not because of the board position, but his late wife's memory . Matt Taylor and his brother were not bad people but at that time and later the religion thing was strong. and dominated much of the clubs tradition.
  6. Harry Davis, he epitomised everything that was rangers, strong and true, all that is asked,(still true.)
  7. when the team returned from the Russian tour there were thousands at the airport to greet them, sensing a new beginning away from the old iron curtain, they were not disappointed. Scot Symon had transformed them into a football -playing team extraordinary! Jimmie Millar, surely one of the most under-rated Scottish (never mind rangers) players, only dodgy knees stopped him from gaining many Scottish caps, transformed from an average mid-fielder (right-half)to a brilliant centre-forward he led a legendary forward -line, it was a dream watching the team in those days playing brilliant football. only bad luck with injuries prevented them in Europe in the early days.
  8. not so dumb. has he not got a champions league winners medal? " one of us." ?
  9. going back a bit,(as usual) but the iron man big Harry Davis was overshadowed by slim jim but was a rock in defence for us, all heart, I'll never forget him chasing that wee specky Belgian c**t ,the length of the pitch, hilarious.
  10. Ally indeed was ridiculed for the same thing, I would have loved to see us go in without the two loanees ( Nathan & gedion) I feel they slow us down in breakaways , giving teams time to get back to cover up, great watching them but we should have gone without them, big Nathan was a marked man against them last time, I'm sure it was pre-planned as they were careful not to get double booked against him, safer away on call-up duty.
  11. "a pillar of integrity when everyone was trying to kill us" ? the way this is going the chant of "super ally super ally" will soon be ringing out again, lets hope that everything will come out in the washing and those silly comments that come out ,he did this and did that for us will finally cease , for me the only he did do for us , be it inadvertently, is we have the present management team in place, I shudder to think that had he achieved even modest success he would still be in charge with kings blessing and we would be brainwashed to believe the five years to catch up and £30,000,000. statement we were told at the beginning of the takeover, five years? let us see what five months and possibly £ 3,000.000. brings us.
  12. was I dreaming or did we really thrash the germans 8-0 in a real game? beginning to doubt my memory now as everyone is bringing up part-timers we've bullied, I am sure this season we will give a few drubbings out, can't wait to stuff raith's mckeowns words down his throat,( "bheasts" 10 times better than us? ) must still be suffering from shellshock, ah well.
  13. all very well drubbing Valletta & stenhousemuir etc , I was at Ibrox when we thrashed the German champions Borussia Munchengladbach 8-0 in a European cup tie ! and the crowd were shouting "nein nein" one of the great nights.
  14. us hanging on under pressure in the closing stages against part-timers, now we are simply blowing them away on fitness levels, as well as pure football, could we have got someone like MW back then? where would we be now if we had ! they say "revenge is a dish best served cold " ours has had plenty of time to cool down, so enjoy.
  15. can't see the "bigger" teams playing with ten men behind the ball, so we will have more space to use our pace and skill, just now the players are trying too hard to score and when the manager gets it into their heads to use the wide areas all the time then beware all teams, it is uncanny, even surreal what we are witnessing and we will get even better, I'm beginning to understand the managers philosophy " you score two and we will score four" not getting carried away but can't wait for the next game now.
