In the last few games, our midfield and team in general have been god awful. I can't understand why individuals are constantly picked out when we should be worried about the whole lot of them. Edu did well in the first half last night as did others (he's done well in the odd game here and there but equally been posted missing in others). Does that make him any better than Barry? Our captain should be ashamed of himself for the last few weeks, but certainly not since he came back from Blackburn (as Traynors' propaganda would have us believe). Consider the dross he's been used to in the last few years and you can potentially understand why he sometimes takes too much on himself. At the moment I don't consider either of them 1st choice. However, Mendes and Davis have just as much, if not more, to answer to (in that they don't have Barry's history to fall back on). The lack of stomach for a fight combined with (at times) a worrying lack of skill beggers belief. Consider what we've had in the past (on a budget might I add) and it could actually be laughable where it not so tragic. We can see obvious flaws in our defence/midfield/attack, yet I worry that the sometimes scapegoat attitude of both journalists and fans disguises the real problem. Our team is suffering from complete mediocrity and certain high profile individuals seem to blind us from this simple fact. We are sitting behind a Celtic team who are there to be crushed, but we don't seem to have the balls to do it. Although I don't post on here, I always read what other fans have to say about the club I pay to watch every week. It worries me that we seem happy to argue the case for certain players who wouldn't even have gotten close to a game 7 or 8 years ago. Maybe, instead of always blaming the same few names, we should look at a far more complicated and worrying problem.
