  1. Well that's embarrassing. Common sense should prevail and the SFA board allow a minor alteration for player safety if we seek to make the change
  2. I'll predict now that we will move the touchline in marginally which will be cheaper than extending the grass area. By our first home league tie that touchline won't be aside the astro it will have been quietly shifted a few inches assuming the rules allow and we haven't already had to register the pitch dimensions.
  3. It's blatantly obvious that running on two surfaces at once with different densities, levels of grip, impact on the joints etc is not something a professional athlete would choose to do.
  4. If Stevie G told the players they had all to do shuttle sprints up and down the pitch as a warm up do you think one single player would choose to run on that line? Not a fucking chance and it's blatantly obvious why. It's so obvious I don't think we are even having an honest debate here. I think you are just enjoying taking the counter position.
  5. The technical area ends safely before the pitch, I'm not arguing against astro on the sidelines it's the proximity. I've never seen astro against the line of the playing surface before
  6. Are you stubbornly sticking to your point here or do you really mean that. Come on man, who are you kidding. Nobody with any sense would design it the way it is right now. Just because it's a Rangers fuck up doesn't mean it isn't a fuck up. A player would rather run on slightly worn grass than one foot on grass one on astro at the same time
  7. Which makes a difference. I'm sure you'll have played football enough to know that while the ball is in play along the touchline a player might have a foot over or on the line and be running at full pelt. Those few inches of grass mean the player isn't changing surface. And there appears to be a height difference or a gap in the join at that part of the pitch exacerbating the issue. It certainly doesn't look seemless
  8. We aren't five years down the line, that's your assessment. We are 2 games down the line. It's never been white line then astro with nothing between
  9. Yes, there's no room now to put a foot off the pitch in regular play which happens frequently. It's so close and at different heights that a full back or winger will be wary. I'd be interested to know what Tav or Borna thought of running down that line vs having 6 inches of grass as a buffer. If you stand on the line the outside edge of your foot is lower than the inside edge. Do that often enough and you will turn your ankle
  10. The astro isn't a distance away. It's literally attached to the outer edge of the playing area. There is no distance. That's the issue.
  11. No because that's the surface the game is played on for 90 mins. Much as you are denying it we'd be made to look like amateurs if a high profile player done an ankle on that in competition and everyone was aware of the issue on the friendly. It's just too close. You only need working eyes in your head to see it's an issue
  12. Those things are all obvious and a distance away. When a player is making natural movements in a game as he runs up the wing or stops abruptly to keep a ball in play he's not stepping on those things. He can brace himself and try to slow down as he leaves the pitch. That join is literally on the line.
  13. Now that we have a player potentially having been injured we have a duty to sort it. Imagine we play in Europe and it happened again to some 9 figure rated winger, we'd be leaving ourselves wide open.
  14. I disagree they have. There has always been a distinct gap even it's it's only a few inches. The difficulty is that white line is painted at the edge almost to the mm making it difficult to perceive the change.
  15. The linesmen are running on one surface and in straight lines. A player running full pelt to keep a ball in play or side stepping a tackle while on the wing will have to step on two surfaces at once, one a cushioned grass surface the other harsher on the joints, possible twisting and changing direction at the same time. And because the touchline is practically painted on the join the players cant see it the same and brace for that change in impact. It's fucking stupid
  16. The egde of the pitch and start of the astro have never been so close together. That's the issue, you can't prepare for it coming as there's no overlap. And players keeping a ball in play or dribbling tight down the line will often have a foot off the pitch. Bad idea. A bit embarrassing actually that it was given the ok as it is.
  17. Understudy to Davis at the base of our midfield. Due to age and the amount of games we have Jack will still play plenty of matches, and his attitude is good. I don't rate him as highly as many but Gerrard knows he's reliable.
  18. I don't think that's a fair summary of how his injuries have been handled or how he's handled himself, this isn't an Andy Webster situation. He's wad injured since a year before we took him, we possibly didn't diagnose the cause early or we took the chance that it would clear up quicker. His body didn't take a normal development path and growing pains meany he was constantly getting injured. He's been fit in that sense since last year and was out out on loan to play games because we couldn't nurse him through 20 matches to get him match fit and retrain his body to endure a rigorous playing and training regime. He's gone on loan and shown he can cope with matches at a lesser level but meantime we have moved on and improved and maybe we have left him behind in terms of ability and experience. How do we catch him back up in terms of his actual match experience when we have Davis, Kamara, Aribo and others all fit and firing in the team. My preference would be to let him go for free but with a buyback clause set at a favourable fee. Say a million quid. If he goes off and racks up 40 matches for QPR or whoever and starts to make an impact again we take him back, raring and ready to go. He's a right good player you only need eyes to recognise the natural ability, he just needs a run we can't afford to risk giving him in this of all seasons
  19. Normally I think you might be right, but he's Gerrard and the normal rules don't apply. He's a born leader and a world icon. Zidane at Real? Pep at Barcelona? There are many examples of a player steeped in a club going to manage them early on. We are borrowing Gerrard from Liverpool make no mistake. And sadly that will probably mean half our backroom team too. Our job will be to find the next manager with the correct aura about them to lead us. Gio is my vote for when the day comes which is hopefully a few years away.
  20. Murphy and Polster in already. Brophy and Lowe in on Monday
  21. Morelos is perfect for the right side of a narrow 3, Defoe centre and Arfield left. Goals goals goals
  22. Jakey Micnamaic ex Celtaic difendair. Who cairs?
  23. It might not be his personality but it would do his cause no harm if he snarled a bit, booted a winger out the park and committed the opposition full back one or twice per game to a race to the byeline. If we could see him bursting a gut and playing at a tempo it would be easier to overlook other things. I hope the penny drops because he's a talented footballer but.... I think Gerard's style of blood and thunder might have rattled him a bit. I imagine our manager can be quite forthright and a quiet guy like Barisic might be a bit shocked by the aggression he experiences in matches and from our own gaffer. Long story short...man up.
